Moose Lake, Minnesota
An up north retreat only 90 minutes from Minneapolis. Located on beautiful Sand Lake in Moose Lake, MN. Large level yard with beautiful views of the lake. The lake is over 500 acres with great fishing and even a golf course you can take your boat to. Perfect for families, swimming and boating. Watching the sunset from the dock is amazing. Bring your ATV's or bikes and enjoy miles and miles of trails.
Nice level lot, Couldn't see out the windows or doors they were so dirty & full of spider webs. Back door was broken, Carpet is dirty & stained, Couch has little black biting bugs in it, Steps up to the bathroom/bedrooms are illegal the bottom step is 2 inches taller than the others, jammed my knee coming down the first time, Charcoal grill needs to be thrown away it's broken, deck and picnic table need a good powerwash, retaining wall is rotted and falling down.
It’s ready to collapse. I have pictures. Unsafe. Would not refund my money OR the cleaning deposit that they didn’t need to use. I’ll make sure it is known
Beautiful setting, really nice piece of property, Never received email with check in instructions, Simple note on door would have been most helpful, Cabin was nice and clean, Did notice a few maintenance issues that should have been attended to.(missing battery in smoke detector on porch, hanging, empty light fixture in ceiling,) Definitely on the rustic side, Only heat was provided by multiple space heaters, Would have been hazardous with kids or pets, A listing of tv channels would have been helpful, Did enjoy the lake and outside fire pit.
Honestly, I would not stay there again. The only plus was the kitchen. It had about everything you would need. Entryway was dirty/cluttered. Carpets in living room had large stains. The twin bed just had mattress cover & quilt…no sheets. The outdoor Adirondack chairs were so dirty you did not want to use them. I understand it is just a cabin but you expect it to be clean….. inside and outside around the deck area. Had no problems but isn’t very secure. You only have a storm door to lock. No solid type door there. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the loons. Seeing the beautiful sunsets and sitting by the fire was so nice. With a little cleanup it would be a great place to visit.
We loved our stay. The cabin is very rustic and needs an update but the atmosphere is sublime. Quiet, rustic, romantic and the views are wonderful.
This was the worst VRBO/rental we have ever reserved. The state of disrepair and lack of maintenance was horrendous. The security of the cabin was non-existent as there was no lock on the flimsy back door. All the issues we experienced are too numerous to list, but here are a few of them: 1. Missing bedsheets & blankets. The ones that were available were ripped and seemed dirty. 2. Cobwebs and stains on carpet throughout the cabin. 3.Tub didn't drain and mold/scum on shower liner. 4. Windows so dirty we couldn't see clearly to the lake. 5.Campfire chairs broken and moldy. 6. Broken window pane and a missing one in bathroom. 7. Horrible, almost unusable cooking pans. 8. Rusty and dirty freezer. 9.Cabin smelled awful after we removed the over-whelming room freshener. The pictures misrepresent how bad the cabin really is and not safe or healthy to rent. It should be demolished and removed from the VRBO listing! So very disappointing and we felt taken advantage of on this rental.
Trash can full from previous occupants , had to buy my own towels and toilet paper as they weren’t provided, could not take a bath as stopper didn’t work, no kitchen sink strainer, carpet and furniture dirty, windows filthy, poor lighting, poor locks on doors, not the view advertised. Do not recommend!!!!
Rustic cabin in the woods. What we remember lake cabins were like when we were young. Quiet nights listening to loons sing and during the day fishing from the dock. No frills, but yet everything you need. A getaway from the hustle and bustle and technology of todays busy lifestyle. Kaylee was great to work with…responded to any questions we had quickly. If looking to unwind would recommend!
We had a great time. The cabin was a great place for our family to stay and enjoy the lake, camp fires and area. Owner was responsive and friendly. Basics provided, but no extras. Would have liked to have some water toys, like kayaks available. No A/C, which was ok, but can get warm during the day. Overall good experience.
Kacee was great with everything as always! Very helpful with prompt responses! Let us check in early with everything clean and ready to go! Pontoon ran great and had some great fishing including a couple fish fries and some to take home! Just what the we were looking for! See you next year!
The lake was a big plus. The cabin was rustic and there wasn’t privacy with the bedrooms.
Our week here has been great. The lake house is cozy, the lake, property, and town charming. Friendly, helpful, and generous people everywhere (including our host). This is among the best Northern MN has to offer. Can't wait to do it all again next year!
Really nice stay, comfortable and nice location
It was perfect. Several steps to climb for bathroom and bedrooms. No can opener...other than that, it was perfect!! Would recommend!!
We had a fantastic time. The cabin was perfect. The beds were comfortable, and just looking out on the water was a good time. We hope to be back.
The cabin - nice and rustic. Cleaners could have knocked a few more cobwebs off of the light fixtures. The listing says no towels. And there are NO towels. No paper towels, no kitchen towels, no towels. Bring towels. No biggie, but you should know this. The boat. The listing says that the boat comes with a full tank of gas. We rented the boat for 2 days and when we got into the boat it had 1/4 tank of gas but was told that that was enough. Well, it wasn't. Thankfully it rained most of day two so we didn't spend much time on the water. We were told that there was a 2.5 gallon tank of gas that we could use, but it maybe had half a gallon in it. Also, the boat was incredibly filthy. Grass, mud, bottle caps... it really needed a good cleaning. Also, we brought our tubes for our teens to have some water fun. The motor was super small and the boat couldn't go fast enough to make it fun. Thankfully we have great kids so they tried surfing and doing some crazy things to make it fun. So, the boat experience was a bit disappointing. That said, to leave it on a high note, the communication with Kaycee was great and Joe also replied very quickly. We would totally stay in the cabin again but probably skip the boat. If you don't mind toodling and not going fast, you may love it, though!
My family had a great time! The lake was beautiful and clean- the kids swam every day. The yard was shaded enough to stay cool and out of the sun to play some games. We had some amazing sunsets from the fire pit and dock! The cabin could use some upgrades but had the essentials and that's exactly what we expected. Great stay! Thanks Kaycee!
The lake is really nice, both for swimming and fishing! The cabin is an older rustic cabin, nothing fancy, which is what we grew up with. Kaycee is great to work with, super responsive and easy to reach. The pontoon rental was a bonus. Had a great time!
Had a great stay here. The cabin has amazing views of Sand Lake! Gave 4/5 stars because the back door was a screen door (a screen door lock isn’t strong so didn’t feel 100% safe). The lot this cabin is on was big and felt secluded.
Fishing was great. Place was located 5 minutes from town.
Great lake for catching fish, many right off the dock. Kaycee was great and very communicative. It's a rustic feel the cabin but it brings me back to when I was young and go to a cabin with my parents.
Loved it! Everything from the old rustic cabin to the great fishing from the pontoon! Kacee was great! We will be back!
