The owners have lovingly and thoughtfully set this house up to maximize comfort, usage flexibility, and year-round fun for guests of all ages. We are thrilled to offer North View to our guests.
>Located just a few minutes from downtown Banner Elk, the lodge sits between Sugar and Beech Mountain Ski Resorts, about ten miles to either one. Grandfather Mountain is also about ten miles away. The property is convenient to Boone, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Hawksnest, Linville Falls and Caverns, Valle Crucis, and everything you want to do or see in the NC High Country.

The property surrounding the driveway and parking area is all wooded, private, and available to walk and explore. The driveway leads through a wooded approach to a generous gravel parking area. The lodge has an expansive deck wrapping around the rear and view sides. The front door leads into a generous entry foyer where you can shed wet winter jackets and boots or take off muddy clothes.

To one side of the foyer is a master suite with a king-size bed, an HDTV, a BluRay player, and an ensuite bathroom. A nearby second bedroom has a queen-size bed and a full hallway bathroom. The kitchen is open to the dining and living areas and offers granite countertops, stainless appliances, and beautiful hickory hardwood floors. The dining table is impressive and can seat 12 to 14 guests. The living room has a central wood-burning fireplace, a large screen HDTV, and upscale leather furniture. Glass French doors open to the rear deck from the dining and living areas. Enjoy the view in handmade, custom furniture constructed from live-edge wood and wine casks.

On the other side of the foyer is a big family room with a window wall. Large comfy sofas, a round game table for chess, checkers, cards, and an HDTV with a BluRay player furnish the room. A long, impressive L-shaped, English tavern-style bar with granite countertops and wood finishes has a refrigerator, microwave, convection oven, dishwasher, and coffee bar. Off the family room is the hot tub room. The two exterior walls have paneled sliding glass pocket doors that disappear, allowing guests to open the hot tub room to the outdoors. Accessible from the hot tub room and the family room is a unique tiled bathroom with a shower, changing room, 8-person sauna, and steam room. Outside the hot tub room, the deck has built-in benches, a long outdoor dining table, a gas grill, and an outdoor stone gas log fireplace.

Upstairs is the game room with an 8-foot slate pool table and dartboard, a comfy reading chair flanked with built-in shelves stocked with books and games, a half bath/powder room, and a daybed with a trundle. The first upstairs bedroom suite has a king bed, a custom built-in desk, and a private full bathroom with a custom tile shower. The second upstairs suite has a California king bed, a vaulted tongue-and-groove ceiling, and a nice window framing the view. It has a walk-in closet and a private bathroom with a double granite vanity and an oversized tile shower. Off the game room is an open-style bedroom with a twin-over-twin solid wood bunk bed and a twin daybed with a trundle bed.

The movie theater room, warm and intimate with vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings and plush carpet, features a 120-inch HD projector screen with digital cable programming, a BluRay player, and an Xbox One. We stayed at the Vacation Lodge with Mountain Character (also known as North View Lodge). Our family of 16 stayed at the cabin, and we found there was plenty of space for everyone. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, playing pool, the big-screen TVs, two living rooms, and taking in the beautiful scenery. During our stay, we spent one day skiing at Sugar Mountain and another day snow tubing, which everyone loved. On a particularly cold day—when temperatures dropped to nine degrees, and there was snow on the ground—we returned from skiing and discovered there was no hot water when everyone was ready to shower. We appreciate that someone was sent out the following morning to resolve the issue. That same day, a van carrying several family members took nearly two hours to make it up the snow-packed hill to the cabin, even with chains on the tires. Four-wheel drive and chains are suggested during winter. Be sure to bring a few essentials, including potholders, trash bags, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, dishwashing soap, a sponge, and kitchen towels. We also found there wasn’t enough silverware for our group’s size, and had to purchase plastic utensils. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the rustic charm of the cabin and our time in the Banner Elk, NC area.

We had 3 families, 10 people staying for 6 nights in our party. We could have easily had 4-6 more to stay without being crowded. We really enjoyed all of the spaces, the hot tub, the pool table, the movie room and the other common rooms were well used. The second kitchen came in very handy as some of the children have allergies and this accommodated them. We were able to separate as families for privacy but still stay together. If there were needs, the manager was fast and efficient to get help for us. Banner Elk itself was enjoyable and close to many places we saw---Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock. But there were all kinds of places that aren't as well known about along the roads.

We so enjoyed our stay! There was plenty of room for families to have their space while still utilizing the comfortable group lounging areas and prepping food to enjoy for a crowd. Ample sleeping areas for multiple families or friend couples. The amenities are top notch - very roomy jacuzzi tub and nicely appointed shower and sauna area. The parking is roomy and well laid out. The mud room is perfect for coming in from a day of skiing to take of boots, snow jackets, and bibs. Plenty of storage and hanging space for outerwear!

The home is beautiful and secluded with a lot of privacy. It's about 5-10 minutes from downtown Banner Elk but it seemed much further, which was what we wanted. The property manager communicated extremely well so checking in was very easy. If I had to complain about something, then it would be the cleanliness of certain areas. The deck has a rotted table sitting on it which could be a concern if you have kids. The floors had areas where dirt and dust had collected in corners but nothing too concerning. It just looked like no one had stayed there in a few weeks or the cleaners didn't do a very good job after the last guests. Overall, I would definitely stay in this house again and would highly recommend it. The jacuzzi and sauna were awesome and a nice touch for adults while the upstairs area is perfect for kids.

We rented North View Lodge and hosted a family reunion with 34 people over 11 days with family coming and going. NVL was a perfect choice for our group as the number of bedrooms (4) allowed for couples and the various other sleeping areas allowed for everyone else to have a comfortable bed. Adolescents enjoyed the lofts. Plenty of bathrooms. Kitchen appliances, grill and cookware were adequate. Bar is nice and allowed us to keep all drinks out of the kitchen and refrigerator. Outdoor fireplace was a nice gathering place in the evening. Would rent NVL again.

We had a really great time at this property! It was large enough for all of our family units to have a great time doing what they wanted to do. LOVED the hot tub area! We also really enjoyed the outside deck with large table - we spent many hours playing games as a family out there! The kitchen is lovely! A lot of time was spent in the movie theatre room playing video games on the large screen. The table in the kitchen was big enough to fit us all. We saw deer in the back yard, loved being in nature. We did some day trips to Boone, the local winery and hiking! Wonderful trip, wonderful home!
