This piece is great to enjoy and relax inside and outside, sit by the river and the fire pit play horse shoe lay in the hammock and many other things.

Host were great. We appreciated meeting the host him showing us everything. All the amenities were great. We loved the privacy and peacefulness of the place. The property was awesome our dog loved every bit of it. Love to come back in the early fall.

We had a great two day stay at the Shadowland River Lodge. We wished it was longer. The hosts, Jason and Nicole greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour with quick easy intructions of the property. They also gave us historical insight of the cottage which made us appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere even more. This is truly a relax and unwind cabin with amazing views both inside and outside. The owners have done an outstanding job with maintaining and cleanliness the property. The ammenities check off all of the boxes. This was exactly what we were looking for in a Northern Michigan getaway. Thanks again Jason and Nicole!

We had a wonderfully snowy weekend made cozy by the fire reading and playing games while looking out at the beautiful river views and relaxing in the hot tub after cross country skiing nearby. Everything was perfect. All the little touches make a huge difference. Hot tub was amazing. Whole experience was comfy and very cozy. The hosts Jason and Nicole were so helpful and nice to deal with. 10/10. My only advice would be to stay longer than 3 days because we didn’t want to leaveCan’t wait to stay again! Hello Fellow Travelers. Unless you have like major issues or something you will Love this place. There is a calm and comfort here that's hard to find. Loaded with stuff. You only need to bring clothes and what you want to eat. There was popcorn and coffee too. And all the wood you can burn. Be assured of that. Fun and lots of it. Even had educational things like Game of Thrones. I learned a lot when I was there. The Netflix channel is 302.

The cabin was amazing. We enjoyed our stay with family. And took advantage of the hot tub and lots of fly fishing. The hosts were wonderful!

Love the location and cozy comfortable home. Hosts are top notch and go above and beyond to ensure we enjoy our getaway vacation.

Another Perfect Fall Getaway! Just returned from my 5th year in a row at Shadowland River Lodge and as usual, it was the perfect experience! Jason and Nicole are the absolute best hosts, and this year, the new hot tub just added to the total relaxation and zen of the property. We ventured out this year to do wine tastings on both peninsulas as well as one of the local cruises on the water to enjoy the beautiful October scenery. The best part of venturing out during the day is returning to the house in the evening for the hot tub, fire pit and cozy fireplace in the living room. My dogs seem to sense when we are close by on the drive in every year and start howling in the car with delight. The feeling of peace and relaxation keep me coming back every year! Thank you again Jason & Nicole for your warm hospitality. Looking forward to returning next year, already!

Lovely stay again. It is so obvious how much pride Jason and Nicole have in sharing this remarkable cabin. Hot tub is a great addition and each year gets better and our trip gets longer. Cabin has all you can ask for and amenities you don’t expect, paper goods, soap, toiletries, trash bags, laundry detergent. They have it all covered. And…the river.. so peaceful and relaxing. You feel as though you’ve left it all behind. I’ve never seen my dog and husband so happy!

Shadowland River Lodge exceeded our expectations. The pictures don't quite capture how truly special the entire property is. We were reminded of our stay at the Lake Placid Lodge. The property and cabin were everything we wanted and expected, the host were great people and gave us lots of good information at the beginning of our stay! The cabin was stocked full with just about everything you would need. We highly recommend this as your next place to stay!

Fantastic property!! It was very helpful that Jason met us on arrival and explained details of the cabin and the area. He is super helpful, responsive and very kind! Thank you Jason! The kitchen and dining area are stocked completely with anything needed for cooking and prepping meals. There are lots of coffee cups and wine glasses . Lots of spices. It’s so nice to have an adequate amount of paper towels, TP , napkins and dish soap. There was bug spray and lots of wood for the firepit. The laundry room was a great place for the dogs to stay in their crates when we went out.

This was our first time vacationing on the Boardman River and the Shadowland River Lodge was the best of everything. The location, the feel of a true log cabin, and all the amenities that anyone would need. The lodge and kitchen were stocked with everything we needed. The new hot tub was amazing. We spent most of our time just relaxing on the lawn next to the river, tubing on the river and walking the property. Upon arrival at the lodge the owners greeted us and showed us everything that we needed to know for our vacation. We would definitely come back to the Shadowland Lodge and highly recommend to anyone that enjoys peace and tranquility.

This is our fourth time staying at the Shadow Lodge and it just keeps getting better. Great experience from start to finish. We love the vintage decor and the history of this wonderful home. Each time we come we appreciate it and its owners even more. This will be the first time when it was actually warm enough to soak our feet in the river and watch our rescue dog catch a fish! Shadowland River Lodge is a hidden gem. The cabin was so charming and cozy. Jason the host was so informative about the cabin and made our time there more enjoyable knowing a little bit about it's history. It exceeded our expectations!

This was our third time at Shadowland. It was another incredible vacation that went all too quickly. Jason the host was perfect and we loved our stay. The kitchen is a great delight...everything we could want to cook up a tasty meal. The grounds are so beautiful and spending time by the river with our new adopted dog was so special. The hosts were responsive and made us feel like welcome from the very start.

Our families met up with two kids and two dogs to check out Sleeping Dunes National Lakeshore and the area, we found this to be cozy, cute and comfortable; perfect for what we needed. It was clean, comfortable furniture and beds and has everything you need to cook at home. Well stocked with indoor and outdoor games. The hosts were wonderful. We loved the hot tub, the giant fireplace and the river view! This is a gorgeous private forest getaway and we all would highly recommend it. We will be back!

This was an absolutely amazing stay. Check-in was easy, Jason met us at the house, which was a nice and unique touch. The house is in a beautiful setting, very clean and Jason had everything ready for us. He truly made it feel as if it was our home for the weekend. It was a Mother’s Day getaway and we just lounge around the fire pit listening to the sounds of the babbling river and the crackling fire. We went out to eat a couple times in Traverse City and other than that just relaxed. The hot tub was amazing. My wife enjoyed reading one of the books that was left in the living room about the history of Boardman River.This was an excellent day and we will definitely be back. We loved every minute of it.

Once we explored the cabin and property, everyone agreed that this place was the best placed we ever stayed. Starting with meeting the hosts (Jason and Nicole) for a quick rundown of the property, btw the nicest hosts and very responsive if you have any questions, they showed us around and even set up the fire pit and fireplace all we had to do was light it up and enjoy. Not to outshine the hosts but the property is the real star. From the views, the fire pit/place, the river, the cozy feel and decorations everything is fantastic. This place has everything from interesting books, board games, blue tooth speaker, a hot tub!!!Jason and Nicole make the check out process incredible easy and stress free. I know this place will be talked about between us for a long time and we all agreed that we will be coming back to the property.

Our family had an incredible stay at this rustic yet beautiful log cabin near Traverse City. The cabin has a charming, rustic ambiance that immediately made us feel at home, but it also boasts a newly remodeled and well-appointed kitchen, which made preparing family meals a breeze.One of the highlights was the huge fireplace—it became the centerpiece of our evenings as we sat around it drinking hot chocolate. There was plenty of supplied firewood, so we never had to worry about keeping the fire going. The property itself is lovely for walking, and we were thrilled to find hiking trails nearby to explore the great outdoors.The cabin’s location is ideal, close to major attractions, but it still felt secluded and peaceful. For dining out, we highly recommend a visit to Yankee Boy Restaurant—it's a must!The hosts were absolutely wonderful—attentive but offering just the right amount of space. Communication was easy, and we felt they genuinely cared about our experience, which made our stay even more enjoyable.Our entire family left feeling recharged and refreshed. This retreat was the perfect escape and will remain a treasured memory for years to come. We can’t wait to return!

I just returned from my 4th year in a row at Shadowland River Lodge and it could not have been a more perfect stay! The property itself is so beautiful and peaceful. Sipping coffee by the river in the morning and wine by the fire pit at night is just the best! My dogs love being able to roam freely in the yard and we sleep well every night. There are tons of things to do in the area with wineries, shopping and restuarants being just a short drive away. Jason and Nicole are the best hosts and are a big part of why I return every year. I am always sad to leave but will be counting the days until my visit next October!

Shadowland River Lodge has the perfect rustic charm with all the amenities to make our stay with a 6 month old and dog very relaxing. I honestly don't think that pictures do the setting justice, it's the idyllic scene of cabin on a wooded river. Jason and Nicole have put a lot of thought and care into this place and they were excellent to communicate with. We hope to stay again soon!

We spent a fantastic week with our two Akitas at Jason and Nicole’s charming cabin on the Boardman River outside the hustle and bustle of Traverse City. The property is equipped with every amenity imaginable for outdoor activities and fun. It even has an outdoor outlet that the owners generously allowed us to use to keep our EV charged! They keep the cabin fully stocked with split firewood to enjoy the rustic charm of the indoor fireplace and the outdoor fire circle on the riverbank. Lots of comfy Adirondack chairs on the river to enjoy your morning coffee. Our only beef has nothing to do at all with the owners or the property. Depending on how sensitive you are to it, there is a constant background traffic noise coming from the adjacent busy road. Thank you Jason and Nicole for sharing your beautiful cabin with us.

All the reviews are accurate! Having coffee while sitting next to the river with a blanket on in the mornings and evenings in August was just what we needed! My husband tried to fly fish but not successful even though I saw fish jumping in the river. We spotted 2 deer jumping across river one night! The cabin is tastefully decorated and has everything you need - lots and lots of games and books if you want to stay inside. Secluded property so no close neighbors. We could not bring our dogs but if you have dogs that love water, this is the perfect place! We only slept in main bedroom and the bed was comfortable. Didn't cook at all but kitchen is well stocked - coffee, tea kettle, lots of spices, hot cocoa and Jason and Nicole left us a nice bottle of wine at check in. You will love it!
