Norway, Maine
Spacious four-season cabin with one hundred feet of private waterfront located directly on beautiful North Pond in Norway, Maine. Sunrise Point Lodge is a nature lover’s dream. Sit on the elevated, expansive deck watching the sun rise over the pond as you sip your coffee in the morning.
Take our canoe, the pedal boat, or one our four kayaks for a paddle to explore the pond. To the left from the private dock you will find the entrance to the North Pond marsh, with an extensive system of watery trails through the islands and lily pads. You will very likely encounter loons, osprey, bald eagles, beavers, deer, frogs and other wildlife, especially at dawn and dusk. Or paddle to the right and enjoy the main pond, taking in the sun and surrounding views of the Western Maine foothills.
If you are feeling less adventurous, you can relax in the hammock or light a fire and sit by the outdoor fire ring in one of our Adirondack chairs looking out onto the pond. In the evening, toast some marshmallows, watch the fireflies float around the backyard, or head back out to the dock for stargazing.
The bass fishing in the pond is excellent, and sizeable largemouth are often caught right from our dock! The pond also holds pickerel, sunfish and white perch. The cabin is ideally located for fisherman and boaters alike. The North Pond and Pennesseewassee Lake boat ramps are a few minutes away by car. Launches for Crystal Lake, Long Lake, Thompson Lake, Highland Lake and Kezar Lake are between 20-30 minutes by car from the cabin.
There are many hiking trails located nearby, along with Lake Penneseewassee Park, which has a sandy beach and playground for the kiddos if you want to take a break from jumping off the dock.
Downtown Norway is only a 10-minute drive, with wonderful shopping options, antiquing, a local brewery, several fine restaurants, a chic coffee shop and one of our favorite pizza joints in Maine.
Norway Country Club offers tee times to the public and includes a driving range and pub on the grounds.
The cabin is located on a quiet, private, dead end country road that is often used by the local deer population.
The foliage in the fall is picturesque. There are many agricultural and other fall fairs in the surrounding area and the cooler weather is perfect for a hike or an evening around the fire ring with friends and family.
In the winter enjoy skating, ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing around the pond. There is easy access to Maine’s snowmobile trails at the end of the private road. Sunday River, Pleasant Mountain and Mt. Abram are all within 30-40 minutes of the cabin for world-class downhill skiing.
The house was perfect for me and my children. It was very clean and comfortable for all of us. The backyard has a great fire pit for roasting marshmallows while looking at the lake. It is very peaceful and quiet. I will definitely be going back to this house.
