Custer, South Dakota
Enjoy the rustic beauty of this log cabin that offers modern kitchen and bathroom amenities. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin sofa sleeper, and the common area has full sofa sleeper (sleeps 5) and is nestled in a beautiful valley surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest. The cabin is secluded with only one other rental cabin on the property (Cabin 2, VRBO # 2325869).
Your morning view will often include white tail and mule deer coming down the hillside to graze in the meadow. Within minutes of Custer State Park, this cabin includes amenities of a full kitchen with eat in area, newly renovated bathroom, internet and TV, gas grill, and can sleep 5 guests with a queen bed, full sofa sleeper, and twin sofa sleeper. After a day of enjoying all the Black Hills has to offer, spend your evening relaxing around the fire pit.
The Cabin is located at 12554 Hazelrodt Cutoff which is 3 miles from Custer, SD, 1.2 miles south on Sydney Park Road, county oil, 1.9 miles east on Hazelrodt Cutoff, county gravel, then left at the HIDDEN VALLEY CABIN sign, follow the driveway to the first cabin on the right. Great cabin for a couple or a family up to 5. This cabin along with cabin 2 would be great option for two families to enjoy their vacation together.
We have a trail camera, when it is turned on it only covers the parking area and the fire pit (not the cabins or the area around the cabins). We generally turn the trail camera on to see when our guests arrive and to monitor the fire pit since the property is in the middle of the Black Hills National Forest.
Great cabin in private area. Quick drive to amenities and activities. Great place to spend our 20th anniversary! Very clean!

You can tell owners do try to take care of the place. Clean and most of the amenities you would have at home. Nice firepit area was a huge plus. Secluded valley surrounded by national forest land minutes from Custer and main attractions of the black hills.
If you're looking for a cozy, QUIET, centrally located cabin to stay in while visiting the Black Hills area... this is it! This cabin exceeded all of our expectations. It was clean, and equipped, with all the comforts and necessities for a week long visit. It worked out wonderfully for our family of 4. Highly recommend!
This cabin was perfect to meet our needs. It was myself, my husband, our 9 year old and my mom. We loved the seclusiveness of the cabin and it was only minutes from town. We even got to meet the owners and they were super friendly and kept us informed of some possible workers being on their property. We will definitely recommend this cabin to anyone we hear of coming to the area.
This is a great place to land after a day in the hills. Hot showers, soft beds, a well equipped kitchen. We were warm and comfortable throughout our stay. Thank you Jim and Mary.
Our family really enjoyed our three nights at this property which borders the Black Hills National Forest. It was easy to find a few miles outside of Custer, SD. The cabin was fully equipped with everything we needed, including in the kitchen. Met Mary, the host, when she was prepping the other cabin onsite for new guests and had a nice time talking to her. We used the fire pit on our last night (there is a separate fire pit for each cabin) and had a great time together. There was even a container of water present to put out the fire when we were done. It was nice to have the conveniences of home (including Wifi) while being surrounded by such a beautiful natural setting.
Our family of four stayed here and it met our needs perfectly. The cabin was very clean and organized and the hosts were communicative and left detailed information about all aspects of the property. The location was amazing and it was so easy to access all of our Black Hills adventures from the cabin! We also enjoyed the peaceful, quiet surroundings.
Loved the cabin, very clean and fully equipped, amazing location in the Black Hills area. Hosts Jim and Mary were friendly, gracious and easy to reach out. Would definitely stay again if we revisit the area.
We enjoyed our stay here. It was the perfect place to unwind each night after exploring the hills. Quiet, peaceful and away from it all. Great communication with the property owners!
This was a cute little cabin surrounded by the Black Hills. Very quiet!
The cabin was exactly as advertised. Close to hiking trails and sightseeing. Hid Away in a peaceful wooded setting. Loved our time there.
Clean, Quiet, We would stay there again.
We loved getting off the beaten path to this cabin. It was quaint and cute. We enjoyed all the trees that hugged this cabin, the bunnies out in the yard and walking around. In the evening we had a campfire with smores and stared at the stars in the sky. The place was clean (but did have some dust under the bed) and provided the needed necessities.
Very convenient to all local sights. Very friendly hosts. Cabin was clean and comfortable and had all items needed. Very secluded location with a grill and fire pit. Would definitely stay here again!
