We want your family to make memories at our family's secluded cabin located at the intersection of the Chattahoochee National Forest, Fort Mountain State Park, and the Cohutta Wilderness. This cabin was built on the side of a mountain to the specifications of its original owner for his wife's dream home. The cabin has a whole house generator, mountain spring water, and propane for heat to make it capable of being totally off-grid if necessary! There is utility-provided electricity, but there are not any power outages with the whole house generator!
The cabin location requires a drive of 3 miles on a recently re-graveled, mountainous road. The owners and service technicians drive 2WD vehicles routinely on road, but guests who do not travel on gravel, mountain roads regularly are often more comfortable with 4WD or AWD vehicles.
The cabin sits on over 20 acres of explorable land with a beautiful waterfall visible from the porch and a crystal clear swimming hole located just a short hike down the creek.
The cabin itself is peaceful and luxurious. The main entrance to the cabin does offer a no step option with a ramp off from the driveway. (Please note the driveway and ramp are still at a decent incline.) A smart lock is on the main entry door for convenient, contactless check-in. The spacious bedrooms, located on 3 different levels for added privacy, can accommodate up to 12 adults. The main living area is great for entertainment and flows into the dining area and kitchen for a very open concept. You can also cozy up by the gas fireplace with a good book or conversation.
Don't forget to challenge your friends or family to a game of cards, billiards, or foosball in the game room!
Whether it is hiking, swimming, exploring or relaxing on the back deck overlooking and listening to the sounds of the creek, this cabin is your getaway spot!
Other things to note:
We have over 20 acres of explorable property, and there are many hiking destinations just a short drive away. there are also multiple property owners along the road, so please only hike on our property when in the neighborhood. The road beyond the cabin is private, so please do not drive, walk, or hike past the cabin.
The cabin is located in the wilderness and you’ll likely encounter some of the local wildlife during your stay.
Black bears are common in the area and have been seen frequently. We have a 'bear box' for Trash on the far side of the driveway should you need to take trash out. Our cleaners take trash from here at cleanup. However, if you are an extended stay, there is a trash drop-off 3 minutes from the bottom of the gravel road going into town. Please DO NOT leave trash outside!
Another important note is that shooting firearms on the property is not allowed. While the cabin is tucked away with lots of mountainous landscape, there are permanent residents/other guests, as well as propane tanks, trails, etc. within the proximity. It is a safety measure for our guests.
Our luxury 36" gas range has a safety feature which requires the timer to be set for the oven to operate. The stovetop works without a timer.
We have recently upgraded the internet services at the cabin. We used to have other satellite, Internet providers with data limits and slow speeds. We now have Starlink, and it has, so far, proven the be much better! We are the first cabin in the area to provide Starlink internet to our guests! We can’t wait to see what you think!
The cabin is equipped with a generator that will kick on and power the whole house if you happen to lose electricity during your stay. If you hear the generator running then no need to worry as the generator doing it’s job and powering the cabin!
There is a wood heater downstairs that is off limits. We have central heating, so this is not needed. Also, our insurance prohibits use of a wood heater in a log cabin, as this is a fire hazard. This does not apply to the gas heater in the main living room space. Please use and enjoy it to the fullest!
There is a propane grill available on the upstairs balcony. There is an ACE hardware in Chatsworth that will fill the propane tank for you if you find the tank empty.
The property is located back into the mountains, so all groceries and personal supplies will need to be brought in from Chatsworth/Eton (10 mins drive once down the gravel road). Located there includes an Ingles Market (Chatsworth), Food City (Chatsworth), Super Saver Cost Plus (in Eton), and more. The closest Walmart is in Dalton.
Waze or Apple Maps will take you directly to the address. Google Maps is not recommended.
The nearest airports are Chattanooga, TN at one hour away, and Atlanta, GA at two hours driving time. The cabin includes plenty of parking, but the driveway is steep.
The closest hospital is AdventHealth Murray in Chatsworth.
Any requests to the property manager should be made between 8:00 am-6:00 pm unless it is an emergency.
The property is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. The house is on point with all the amenities and the kids had a great time exploring the area and hiking. The owner was easy to communicate with and provided excellent directions!
This property was amazing and definitely exceeded our expectations! The cabin itself is fully stocked. The kitchen is perfect! We cooked everyday, including using the grill. The setup of the bedrooms is perfect for a large family/group. The 4x4 recommendation is no joke as the road leading up is a bumpy one! But it was an added adventure for our family. It is such a wonderful place!!
We made many wonderful memories with our kids and grandkids. The house is spacious. Plenty of room for several cooks in the kitchen. Several places to play game’s inside and outside. The family enjoyed playing in the stream and hiking. We saw several animals including a couple of bears in the woods. Be prepared for weak internet. There is a dvd player available for movie night. Listen to the warnings about the road. It’s a beautiful home. A great place to relax and unwind.
Great location, so away from everything. Could be tricky get to the house if you drive sedan or some car with low profile tires because road all gravel and lots of rocks, but we have 4x4 suv and was even more interesting. Water fall and creek was also amazing, spend some time at Creek playing. House was comfortable and everything what you need. Only kids was complaining that no wifi internet :))) it was but barely usable. But fine more time outside. Only one think what I would like this property would have is fire pit. Our group love be by fire and we missed here.
Love the home and the surroundings. Location was misleading as it said “Prayer’s Mill”. This was very close to our destination. After booking, the location was 45 minutes away. The home was phenomenal, but the road to access the property was somewhat difficult to maneuver. Only after booking the rental did we find out it is only accessible with a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Now that we know why to expect, we will probably what to stay here in the future!
Great house. Nice holiday memories. The house has everything you need. Gorgeous view and wonderful nature around. We used a 4x4 SUV and got home with no problems, but for a low-slung or front-wheel drive car, I think it would be problematic to get the last 3 miles. I recommend leaving all your affairs at home, there is no mobile connection at all. Internet sufficient for messages or mail…. the first day was a little annoying, but then we began to enjoy the nature around, waterfalls and communication with children. In general, we really liked it. a great place for a family holiday away from the usual hustle and bustle.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin! We enjoyed all the sights and sounds of nature at its finest, while sitting on the back porch, which overlooks a beautiful creek. The hiking trail was great, too! The cabin was clean and well-stocked and accommodated our crew of 11 perfectly. We plan to visit again!!
Enjoyed the sounds of nature away from it all. Cabin held family and friends for a complete get-away prior to the wedding. Low key, but wonderful.
Good visit with family
I wanted a cabin to hang out with my close friends with quiet surroundings and not be distracted by anything else. This cabin was a perfect location to do that. The road is bumpy, and does require an SUV. The kitchen is wonderful to cook in, and the house has all of the amenities we were looking for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Love this place. Would absolutely take my family here again. Spectacular house and views.
Wonderful cabin, great views and trails. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a mountain getaway.
The cabin was exactly as it is pictured with beautiful scenery. The check in/out process was seamless and it had all the basic necessities in the kitchen. The beds and pillows were comfortable. We did not have a 4WD vehicle and were able to make it back/forth to the cabin a few times with no issues. I do warn you, the hills going in are very steep and on a gravel road. They seem kind of sketchy if you are not familiar in driving in that type of terrain. The only down side to this rental is that there is not a flat area for the kids to play around in. The property is all on either a steep incline or in the woods. There were a LOT of snakes in the immediate area and we even saw a bear right below the deck. Being in the woods, this was expected but the amount of snakes we saw (some poisonous) was a little unsettling for me with young children. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful trip.
This place is exactly as advertised with extras! The cabin is beautiful and well kept with great views of the creek and waterfall. It is spacious enough and plenty of quiet spaces to relax. The swimming hole is less than an 1/8 mile walk down the trail that starts right off the road just a short jaunt from the driveway. We enjoyed our stay as it had everything we needed to cook all our meals and clean up after ourselves. The game room was a hit with all of us and the sounds of the creek and waterfall were so relaxing. The only complaint would be the number of carpenter bees on the upper deck, however they do not sting or chase you around, they keep to themselves. The hosts were very informative and very friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. Definitely a 5 Star cabin. Thank you!!
