Brevard, North Carolina
This rustic and sophisticated cabin is nestled on a mountainside near the French Broad River. It is located on nine private acres secluded from the Partridge Hill main house where the owners live. Partridge Hill was once owned by the author Hamilton Basso who was a close friend of Thomas Wolfe. Wolfe and Basso spent many hours on Partridge Hill and would love the inviting ambience of the cabin known as The Partridge Nest. The cabin features two queen-sized bedrooms and two full baths with an additional sleeping area in the cozy writers loft. Amenities include a beautiful and well-stocked kitchen, dining area, wood-burning fireplace, and a full screened porch with a mountain view. The interior design is comfortable, inviting, and mountain inspired.
An ideal get-away spot, the cabin is secluded yet only four miles from Brevard where there are fine restaurants, the Brevard Music Center, Brevard College, and many great shops. The Pisgah National
Forest is just minutes away from your front door and offers some of the finest hiking, rock climbing, and fly fishing in the East. Majestic waterfalls are all around the area as well. The Brevard Music Center is renowned nationwide for it's summer musical presentations and it's students typically go on to major careers in music. Keith Lockhart is the artistic director and principal conductor.
You will forget time as you sit on the old-fashioned porch swing enjoying the mountain view or reading a book in the cozy loft. You will return to the real world rested, renewed and looking forward to your next visit to The Partridge Nest.
The Partridge Nest was featured in the February 2018 issue of OUR STATE magazine in North Carolina. There are several pictures and a very informative story.

We will definitely stay here again. We have been coming to Brevard for a couple of years but branched out to stay in a house this time. The hosts were absolutely fantastic. The house was a home that was well stocked and comfortable. It provided anything we could ask for.
Amazing rustic yet sophisticated cabin. The owners are very welcoming
Our stay was everything promised and more. The house was secluded and quiet yet only a short distance from town so you had the best of both worlds. Charlie and Jean were very quick to respond to any questions we had. I appreciated their help with directions and local information. This was my first time booking a VRBO and I was very pleased. I would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our time at Partridge Nest, we had lots of porch time, fabulous dinners around the big table and evening fires. This place was perfect for our group.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this amazing cabin! Rustic yet classy. So comfy! Awesome screened porch. Close to Brevard and short drive to all the hiking areas. Charlie was super helpful, especially in explaining the driveway up...slow and steady and it’s all good.
Our stay at the Partridge Nest was perfect! The cabin is beautifully appointed with lovely decorator touches everywhere you gaze! Everything is set up for comfort and pampering. What a retreat! We will be back!
My husband and I had an amazing time staying at The Partridge Nest! Charlie was a wonderful host, greeting us after we arrived at the cottage and told us the history of building the cottage. The cabin is very private and has a beautiful view from the screened porch. The cabin is beautifully decorated and provides comfort and respite while only 10-12 minutes from downtown Brevard. Thanks again Charlie and Jean...we will return to this amazing cottage.
Very cute and private cabin. Owner was great and very accommodating. We are definitely planning on making a return trip in the future!
The cabin was everything we hoped for and within 8-15min of anything we needed. Downtown Brevard was very nice, plenty of stores to shop from, we also checked out Mantiques and bought some lovely items. The host Charlie and his wife Jean were the most gracious hosts anyone could ever ask for! We didn't meet Jean but my wife spoke with her otp and they had a lovely conversation. Charlie is the epitome of a gentleman and a scholar. I had brake problems while there and Charlie was more than helpful lining me up with a mechanic and giving me a lift, he even offered to let me borrow his truck, everything went very smoothly! Such a wonderful week long anniversary vacation we had there, and my wife really loved the personal touches and decor of the cabin. I would recommend this rental to anyone and I'm sure we will be back! Thank you very much Mr. & Mrs. Brendle, and God bless!
Our host and cabin were amazing! The cabin was beautiful, cozy and relaxing! It had everything we needed to cook and lounge in. Decor was detailed. Charles, the owner, checked on us and gave us great care. We were fortunate to be there when it snowed and he made sure we had enough firewood. Would highly recommend this cabin. Would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I stayed in this cabin for a quick long weekend getaway, and the experience could not have been better. The cabin is situated on the owners property, but is still very private. It's decorated very rustic, but still comfortable and with modern appliances. My wife is an interior designer and loved all the decor. You just get a really good feeling when you walk in to the cabin. The owner, Charlie was very friendly and accommodating as well. It's nice and close to hiking trails and grocery stores to get whatever you need. Do not hesitate to book it!
I have a beautiful home and an extraordinary kitchen myself, so often I am disappointed by both when I rent a getaway cabin. Not so with this beautiful cabin in Brevard! I was surrounded by interior design inspiration in this cozy, rustic getaway in the mountains. We sat by a roaring fire each night and I cooked wonderful meals. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and we learned so much about the area. A short walk to one of the first African-American churches, short drives to incredible hikes with waterfalls, but mostly the desire to sit in this cabin and read, either in front of the fire or in the sweet window seat. Everything we needed was there and nothing disappointed. Thanks to Charlie and Jean! We even had a last goodbye from a famous Brevard white squirrel!
The property location is fantastic--convenient to the wonderful little town of Brevard--fun restaurants, shopping, & breweries. Great hiking in Piscah Forest--all within about 10 minutes but cabin location feels secluded and private, looking out over lovely little valley.
