Romantic River Front cabin,Close to Luray

Way better than expected!

Wonderful weekend get away quiet and peaceful! Loved the isolated location but close to attractions! We can’t wait to go back!

The cabin was cute, clean & very peaceful. We really enjoyed the hot tub & the fire pit. Plenty to do nearby in town. Host was super responsive. We will definitely be back!!

Excellent location, and easy check in. Love the availability of kayaks, canoes, and tubes. I wish we would have had time to use them. The hot tub was nice and clean, but unfortunately most of the jets were not working. We enjoyed our stay and are planning to come back again with our kids.

Well maintained, fairly clean, one lamp flickered a lot and had to unplug. The windows could use a cleaning and some spiderwebs need to be removed. Everything else very nice and clean! The hot tub was wonderful!

Enjoyed the river and hot tub! We grilled and set up a fire for smores! Nearby grocery store was great for things we missed bringing! Excellent experience!

Very relaxing stay. My son enjoyed fishing on the river. Located close to hiking, caves and other activities but still felt very secluded.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful July 4th weekend stay. The host was very helpful with updates on the river with rain the week before. We enjoyed the river, grill, cornhole boards and sitting on the rocking chairs and around the firepit. Even though the other 2 cabins were occupied there is enough privacy between them that it's a peaceful stay. We also liked how close it was to downtown Lurary, local shopping/ restaurants/attractions, outdoor adventures, and Shenandoah National Park. While also feeling away from it all.

We came for the weekend and it was wonderful. Close enough to town to make a grocery run because you forgot to pack something, but far enough away to be isolated and enjoy nature. We will definitely be back.

I had an amazing stay at Gander Island Cabins! The cabins were very well kept and comfortable, making for a relaxing retreat. The view was absolutely stunning—perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature. Plus, the location was fantastic, close to all the local attractions including some incredible caves. I also loved that there were some great food trucks nearby, which made dining easy and delicious. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful and convenient getaway!

We arrived with our 9 year old son and dog Tuesday and stayed til Friday and what a great stay we had. We experienced a little bit of everything within the area, from grilling, sitting by the hot tub, floating and fishing in the backyard river. We also went to Lurray canverns as well as Cooters. We had an amazing and relaxing stay, it was just what we needed!

The bed was way too high to get in. The place needs some sprucing up. No towels and sheets. That should be provided.

It was a great little cabin, and very comfy for its size. Lots of great things about the place. Right next to the river so you have that wonderful sound all the time. Super close to Luray and ability to get onto Skyline.It rained most of our stay, so we didn't hang out too much outside in the chairs, but the fire pit looks awesome. The hot tub was excellent.A couple pieces of advice to make things extra great:1. Bring ALL the types of towels you need, including kitchen towels and washcloths. The kitchen is tiny so there is no drying rack. You'll want to have towels to dry your dishes.2. There is no oven so don't buy anything you would expect to bake. There is a grill, though. There is a small two burner stove and microwave.3. There are enough pots and pans and utensils to cook simple meals.We would definitely stay there again Hosts are great and very, very communicative.

Thoughtfully well-constructed, remote in all the right ways (but still accessible with a family style sedan), clean, quiet, and with a ton of character—we enjoyed the Goose cabin immensely. HUGE plus for items like WIFI and an absolutely cozy couch. Excellently maintained grounds and lawns. A short drive to MANY of the Shenandoah trails and Skyline drive. The location feels ‘super remote’ yet is only a few minutes from a grocery store if you find yourself needing anything. While there is no conventional oven in the Goose cabin, the kitchen features two electric burners (similar to what You’d find at extended stay hotels), and there is a charcoal camp grill and fire ring outside so you can grill the way nature intends. There’s also a microwave we used to reheat some travel meals my partner made ahead of time. It was great to wake up to coffee on day one to view a couple of anglers down in the river casting and catching. When the weather turned poor, the roof of the cabin extends over where the two rocking chairs are so you can sit outside sipping more coffee and enjoying the sound of the rain on the trees.Few things feel like mornings in the Shenandoahs…and even fewer I’d think while being in the Shenandoah River. This cabin gives you both. —we needed a break from work and the world…and Gander’s Island delivered. Nicely done!

Good location , the owners offered to clean coffee maker and microwave but we declined .

The Gander was the perfect stay away place for solitude and proximity to great hiking. Will go back again.

We love to hear the river next to the cabin, we had a campfire, grill outside and enjoyed the hot too after a nice hike on the many trains around the area.

Very clean cabin! Enjoyed the evenings in the hot tub and sitting by the fire. Our Zoey loved laying on the deck and her walks to play in the river! We would definitely come back! Thanks for a relaxing break we needed!
