Smile Inn Over the River is a cozy, relaxing cabin where you can really get away from all the stress of daily living! Enjoy with your family and friends while grilling on the back deck overlooking the Shenandoah river! Roast marshmallows at the fire pit next in the evening next to the river. Smile as your heart warms watching your kids and dogs running, playing, having the time of their life on the huge wide open field along the river! Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, New Market Battlefield, and wineries are all a short drive away! Make memories to take home and keep forever!

We are a very pet friendly cabin because pest are an important part of your family and should be on vacation with you, we take our dogs on vacation with us, why not you There is an enclosed dog run right next to the deck for those times that you do not want them running free. ($30 pet fee)

There are no hidden fees in our price, everything included. There are no fees for linens, firewood, cleaning, or charges for extra people. We supply all paper products, and the kitchen is stocked for your gourmet cooking. We try to supply all the staples and spices that you may need in preparing meals.

Smile Inn sits on 3 acres, bordered by woods and fields on 3 sides, and boasts 400 feet or river frontage in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The cabin sits near the end of a gravel road in an area we call cabin alley. The nice thing about the location is it is beyond traffic, noise (except for geese), and dust of vehicles travelling on the road. The road you travel is a country road through forest and along the river, 5.8 miles on the gravel road, and is about 17.5 miles from downtown Luray. It takes 30 minutes to travel to town so get your food before you travel to the cabin, but you are in easy reach of enjoying everything Luray (dining and movies) and the Shenandoah Valley has to offer....or just remain at the cabin and relax in the hammock near the river.

The cabin sleeps 6 comfortably, with 2 bedrooms and a loft. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, upstairs bedrooms has 2 double beds and a half bath, and the loft outside the upstairs bedroom has a futon. The downstairs bathroom is divided into 2 separate rooms next to each other, one includes the toilet and vanity, the other a walk in shower and whirlpool bath. (user friendly) The kitchen has updated appliances and includes a microwave, toaster, blender, and combo coffeemaker. The dining area seats 6, and leads out to the screened in porch with another table to dine. There is an open deck beside the screened in porch that also has a table and a gas grill. The living room has a sofa with 2 reclining sides, a separate recliner situated around the gas fireplace. The front porch has a swing and other seating.

Down by the river we have a fire pit and firewood, a picnic table and a hammock. There is a set of stairs down the hill to make access to the lower field easier. There is a canoe and other flotation devices that you may use, but they are use at your own risk.

All the amenities of home are provided including cable TV, WiFi, a DVD player, and phone service.

The area below the cabin that borders the river is perfect if you are planning a small event or family gathering. There is plenty of room to set up tents if you or your kids want to have the full camping experience beside the river. There is an access road that runs along the bottom of the hill below the cabin. To get on that road, travel beyond the cabin 1/4 mile and turn right at the gate, stay on the right hand road until you reach the bottom field. You can use this to bring supplies to the bottom field if you wish.

Again, the drive to town is about 30 minutes on a country road, so make sure you stock up on groceries before you travel to the cabin.

The historic town of Luray, Luray Caverns, Lake Arrowhead, and Jellystone Park are located about the same 30 minute drive. Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive are about a 45 minute drive, Wisteria Vineyard and New Market Battlefield will take about an hour of travel. The cabin is located at the base of Massanutten Mountain and borders the George Washington National Forest. There are many hiking trails nearby including the Habron Gap, and Indian Grave Ridge trail. There are multiple trails located along the Massanutten and the Shenandoah National Park.

The house is beautiful. It has a warm atmosphere that made me feel immediately at home inside. I love the log cabin look with the wooden walls and floors, but the high ceiling gives it a much more open and spacious feel than you normally expect from a cabin. The backyard is amazing, with access to the river. I'm actually disappointed that we had such a full schedule while we were there, because we ended up not spending that much time in the house during the day, and didn't have as many opportunities to relax and enjoy ourselves on the property as I would have liked. One thing to note: I know other reviewers have mentioned the distance from town. I initially wasn't worried about this as it looked on a map like the house was located about halfway between Luray and Front Royal. Since we were going to spend some time in both towns, it seemed like a perfect location as we'd be about 20-30 minutes from each. But actually, the house is located near the end of a long dead-end road which can only be accessed from Luray, so if you want to go to Front Royal or other points north, you have to first go south to Luray and then loop back, so the location is pretty remote. But if you're planning to spend a lot of time at the house itself, it's perfectly situated.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cozy cabin. Plenty of towels, linens, etc. The best stocked kitchen I have seen, yet. And what a view of the river. Our only issue (and it could have been us not understanding) was we couldn't figure out how to use the jacuzzi as the buttons didn't seem to turn it on and we didn't see any directions. Other than that, it was like a home away from home. Oh-and we loved that is was so pet friendly and the dogs had a lovely dog fun.

We had a fantastic time here. Andy was super communicative and the house was really well stocked for our getaway. The property was fantastic for our dogs to run around and play while we hung out by the river. We cannot say enough good things about Andy and his property. We’ll certainly be back when the weather warms up!

The host was phenomenal. Great communication and wonderful directions. Everything we used was in working order! Extremely peaceful stay. Stars galore, and little to no traffic. Living in NCR, we hear cars and horns all the time. It was amazing to spend time away from the hustle and bustle, and reconnect with nature’s serenity. Recommend this location for anyone needing a peaceful place to relax, disconnect, and recharge.

The cabin was very comfortable and spacious, even nicer than the photos. It had everything we needed in the kitchen. It was wonderful for our dog. She loved the huge yard area to sniff around. We especially loved the deck and that the dog run was right off it, which made it very convenient to let her out.Andy was a great host, responded to communications, and provided clear directions to the cabin. Thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful cabin!

Andy was quick to answer any questions we had. The cabin was secluded and perfect for our dogs to have room to run. The cabin was clean and offered anything and everything to make our stay a home away from home. It is a trek to get there, but worth the 5 mile drive on the gravel road. Just go slow. It is bumpy!

He makes himself available so he's there if you need him but respectful of your stay as well. We will most definitely return. We are already Really missing our nightly river dock time watching the local Heron, Osprey, Eagles and diving ducks. Thank you SO much for providing such a great place to escape and time I will always cherish with my husband and daughters.

We had an unforgettable stay at this beautiful riverfront cabin in Luray, VA with our family of five, including three teenagers who had an absolute blast! The property is stunning, with breathtaking mountain views and a peaceful setting that made it easy to unwind. Our days were filled with fun—fishing right off the riverbank, swimming in the cool, clear water, and just soaking in the natural beauty all around us. The cabin itself was cozy, clean, and well-equipped, making it the perfect home base for our getaway.

This cabin was a perfect get-away for us and our dogs. We had to travel for a funeral and decided to combine it with a little down time. The kitchen is well-equipped, the bedrooms are super comfortable. We LOVED the fireplace. And the property was great for the dogs to run and play. Our only regret is that we weren't there in the warmer months so we could do more outside. There was a fantastic trail not to far from us that we recommend!

While there was a miscommunication between the owner and the cleaning crew resulting in us arriving to a dirty cabin at the beginning of our stay, Andy was very responsive and got someone out to get the place spotless within an hour. This is a very secluded spot and very quiet. The cabin was cozy and well-kept as well as the dog run. Our favorite feature was the gas fireplace! Just note that there are a LOT of muddy areas on the property near the river due to recent flooding in the area, so we weren't too comfortable hanging out in those spots. However, we had a very nice stay and would return again!

Rustic cabin on the river. We are guessing the cabin is located around mile 21.5 (for those who will kayak/canoe). This was our 4th stay at this cabin and 13th annual Shenandoah visit. The cabin has all the basics and a wonderful view. We enjoy how secluded this house is. Bass fishing directly in front of the cabin is decent. We enjoy just throwing a tube or chair directly into the water and relaxing. Wildlife is abundant near the house. Lots of games and books available. We enjoyed playing games on the screened in porch every evening. Make sure you bring your own hand soap (none available) dishwasher pods (none available) toilet paper (only 1 roll for a week) and paper towels (only 1/2 roll left for a week). The positives of this house definitely outweigh any negatives.
