Riverfront Cabin on the Madison! 35 minutes to Yellowstone Nat'l Park!!

This was our third year staying at “The Fishing Shack” which says it all. Things we enjoyed most were the location- near to YNP and fly fishing excursions, cleanliness of the cabin, a well equipped kitchen, hot tub, access to the river and breathtaking views. We were fortunate to have a few days of snow which was a bonus, but it was a challenge driving out of the steep graveled driveway. However, that was a very minuscule problem with a Suburban. During previous visits we really enjoyed going to the Grizzly Bar restaurant up the hill, but this year it was closed for the owners who were on a break. Overall we really loved spending time at the cabin. The owner is very communicative and quickly responsive to messaging. We hope to stay again in the future.

What amazing home and location! We had the most relaxing and fun trip! My husband keeps asking when we’re going back! The home has everything you need and the location is great, especially if you’re fishing. We spent a day in Ennis (30 minutes away), and went to Yellowstone which was about 40 minutes. My husband caught a rainbow trout close to the house. You’re not close to much but I think it made for a perfect trip. There is a restaurant in walking distance with great food and service (we’re from New Orleans so we think our food is the best but this was delicious)!Please note there is no a/c in the house but with the fans we were fine. We will definitely go back!!!

We had a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful and has everything you need for a comfortable visit. The kitchen is amazing and sitting on the deck overlooking the Madison river is the best. Yellowstone and Montana did not disappoint, we hope to visit again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

The house was very welcoming, extremely clean, and just a lovely riverfront cabin vibe. It was wonderfully stocked with all the necessities from steak seasonings to toilet paper and paper towels, and things that normally you don’t find. My family hiked in Yellowstone and fly fish in the evenings. And had coffee on the deck with warm comforters in the morning.

There are not enough words to describe how beautiful the setting this cabin has. The cabin inside is amazing, the beautiful deck out back!! Would definitely recommend for sure

We just returned from staying a week at the “Fishing Shack” and absolutely loved everything about this cabin! The pictures of the cabin are great but wait until you see it for yourself, the owners really put their heart and soul into every detail and it showed! The sound of the Madison each night is something special. We loved the location as we could drive into the park or go the opposite way to Ennis and Virginia City. Amazing place!! We hope to return and definitely stay here again!!

Absolutely gorgeous view and beautiful home on the Madison River. Some days my family wanted to leave Yellowstone to spend time at this home, so that says a lot. Easy and pretty drive from the West entrance and a short drive to Historic Virginia City (mining town). Listening to the river and soaking up the mountain views from the spacious deck or hot tub made for a relaxing and comfortable trip. Hands down one of my family’s favorite vacations and this home played a big part in it. Definitely recommend it!

We had five adults staying for a family vacation to Yellowstone This was everything we hoped for and more … right on the river and with the bedroom windows open you can listen to the river and the birds from the bedrooms. Extremely clean and all the towels and bedding were supplied. The apartment was well appointed and very comfortable for our 20 year old son but he was disappointed that there was no internet signal there. I would have loved that as I tried to keep my phone away for this trip The Direct TV and internet in the main house was spot on and never had an issue. Be sure to read the wonderful guide from the hosts. We enjoyed several of their suggestions. Virginia City is a must. We wish we had more time to spend there as we didn’t see it all Be sure to have your grocery list and check it twice as there is nothing around to get milk, eggs ,etc without a half hour drive to Island Park gas station The drive to Yellowstone is about 35 miles and is an easy drive. Ennis is about the same drive time away and was a great fishing town

Absolutely incredible! Our family of 6 stayed in this beautifully crafted cabin and couldn't have been happier. This is the best vrbo we've booked.. We loved the location right on the Madison River with a gorgeous view of the mountain range. My husband visited the local fly shop (Galloup's Slide Inn) which was just a 10 min drive with a wonderful staff who even gave him an impromptu fly fishing lesson! Easy and beautiful drive to West Yellowstone with more food options in town than we were expecting. Make sure to stop by Firehole BBQ and Mountain Mama's coffee house for a huckleberry pie and bison pot pie.Ps we loved the photo book of the cabin. You built such a special home and we appreciate you sharing with our family!

Was extremely happy and shocked that this house was more beautiful than we expected. The house was very well stocked with all our needs. The owner was very responsive when contact them with questions. Definitely have a return visit in or futures!!!!

Beautiful cabin! . Very well stocked. Beautiful views. Loved listening to the river. The beds were so comfortable!! It was a bit far to drive to Yellowstone. It takes about 45 minutes. Ennis was a quaint ittle town with a great butcher shop. Owner was very responsive to an issue that we had. I would definitely stay again!

The cabin was amazing, the river was great, the communication with owner was great. Only negative was online it showed it was IN west yellowstone, its actually 40 mins west of west yellowstone so it was a LOT more driving than expected. The location is misrepresented on Vrbo

This is our second stay at “The Fishing Shack” and overall we were pleased with our trip. The location is very remote so it’s important to stock up with food and other supplies you’ll need ahead of time. The Grizzly Bar restaurant is within a short walk, but requires a reservation that can only be made within a two week time frame. The best review I can give is that we will be back next year!

It was a beautiful house and the location on the Madison River was fabulous!

Our family had the best time staying at The Fishing Shack. We put a lot of miles on the car doing lots of things. Beautiful hikes and scenery! It was always nice to come back to the huge deck overlooking the Madison river. We did not want to leave!

We stayed here while mostly visiting Yellowstone National Park. This is a lovely cabin and we would've enjoyed it immensely but there was a mice problem. In the evening on our first night (and each subsequent night) we spotted several mice running out from under the fireplace and underneath the living room sofa then into the kitchen at one point on the counter top and onto the stove top then climbing into the control panel of the stove. We tried to catch them and looked for mouse traps to set but couldn't find any. I contacted the property owner and after checking said he was unable to locate a company to take care of it. I said we would try to find traps to buy in West Yellowstone but we were not successful finding any in the town. This problem put quite a damper on our evening family game and talk time since no one wanted to sit anywhere while mice were running around. I was hoping to be offered some compensation back for all of this but it didn't happen. If you're alright with mice running through your place then you will be able to enjoy this beautiful place. We loved sitting out on the deck and listening/watching the river.
