Anchors A-Way is a classic 1965 A-Frame. The original owners have been using it as a family getaway since they purchased it in 1976, and it's now been passed on to the second generation. It's a time capsule of mid-century modest. With only 600 square feet it's a darling little gem. The living room, dining area, kitchen and bathroom are all downstairs, and it includes 2 built in twin beds that also serve as sofas.

This house is for the young, or young at heart as it has a ladder-stairway to the loft, where you'll find the queen bed. It's super close to the beach, but in a marvelous wind protected location so you can enjoy the deck in the morning, afternoon and evening. It has as much outdoor living space as there is inside. There is a picnic table for outside dining as well.

You'll find 2 rattan swivel rockers, and a 40-inch TV on a rolling cart. It has streaming internet TV with Sling. The built in twin beds are perfect for children, or taking a quick nap in the afternoon, while curled up with a book.

I have a thing for A-frames, they've been disappearing, right and left in Florence and on the West Coast in general, as people rip them down and toss up more practical housing. I blogged about this A-frame and Helmsman's Hide-A-Way in January & March of 2013; little did I know I'd wind up with both of them in June 2013 as vacation rentals. While these 2 represent opposite ends of the spectrum, they're both fantastic pieces of history, if you enjoy rustic, funky, and fun historic houses you'll love them, as much as I do. If you're really into A-frames and oddities, ask me and I'll provide you with a self-guided tour list, to see in the neighborhood.

Since we took on this house the owners have passed on this house to their daughter. I loved hearing the family stories, telling me about swinging out of the loft (before we put in the new loft rail - it's amazing any of us survived ;-) Since we took it on 7 years ago, we have replaced all the windows, siding and re-built the deck rail benches, plus replaced the refrigerator and range. In the fall of 2023, we replaced the exterior deck.

Enjoy Burgers & Brew where the locals hang out at Jerry's Place within walking distance or Anchors A-Way is a short drive from the Historic Old Town Florence gift shops, the Antique District, art galleries, wine bars, coffee bistros, and fabulous seafood restaurants. Explore some of the best fishing on one of 17 local lakes, or play on some of the finest sand dunes, and state parks that Oregon has to offer.

This was such a unique experience, and it made my trip to Oregon extra special. The walk to the beach was so easy I was able to go down there every day to relax and enjoy the sunset, even after a full day of working and seeing other sites. Plus the rental company was so friendly when I had questions. I would definitely stay there again.

Small A frame .with late 60s early 70s theme. Would not recommend it for people with problems climbing steep stairs. Close to beach (nice hike) and well within a nice bile ride to old town and food.

Cozy cabin! My only complaint is that the foundation was definitely leaning on the south side. Husband and I had a great vacation. Super close walk to beach!

This is a fun stay in a bygone decade - namely the 70’s. The location is wonderful. We spent time on the sunny quiet deck watching birds and squirrels and listening to the ocean waves. It’s a short walk to the beach. My only complaint is after 2 days I was in need of a comfortable lounge chair.

My husband and I arrived at our little cabin on Sunday, Property is as described. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone having issues with climbing. As you have to climb steep ladder like stairs to get to the bed to b the loft. Besides the neighbors yelling at night and the neighborhood dogs barking often, everything was peaceful and quiet with the neighborhood. Five minute walk to the gorgeous beach. Close to town and close to the local shops. This isn’t really a secluded cabin as it looks in the photos. It’s like it’s in someone else’s backyard. But still in a nice area. Would stay again!

I enjoyed my stay at the cottage and liked the close proximity to the beach and other interesting view points. However, the upstairs bedroom was too much for me , being 79 years old. I could handle the stairs in the daytime, but was afraid of a fall during the night , since older persons often need to use the bathroom during the night, and that was downstairs. You might mention this when you advertise! Otherwise I enjoyed my stay! Thank you for the experience, Elke Longbottom

Me and my fiancé came down to Florence with our 2 dogs to celebrate our engagement and this cabin really made it special! Small and cozy for our little family and extremely close to the beach 5 min walk later and you can have your toes in the sand with your pups running around living their best life! 100% we will be returning in the future!

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. We appreciated the privacy the trees on the property provided. The bed in the loft was comfortable, but the sleeping areas provided downstairs were not ideal. A thin pad on plywood benches. A very dog friendly beach was a short walk away. Overall it was a great experience for the cost.
