Polson, Montana
Two cabins, right on the lake and nestled on a cherry orchard, offer an ideal gathering spot for family reunions and large groups. The property was formerly a resort in the 1940s on pristine Flathead Lake in the Skidoo Bay area. The lower cabin was restored from the original 1940's resort cabin with a new addition added in 2017. The new addition provided added living space, another full bath and a kitchen. The upper cabin was remodeled in 2017 and has a large deck overlooking the view. Both offer an excellent location with stunning views of the lake that are unbeatable, and of course beautiful sunsets every night.
Both cabins have a total of three gas fireplaces, three living rooms, fully furnished kitchens, 4.5 bathrooms, two balconies with up close views of the lake, two decks and a large fire pit area right on the lake. The boat dock was rebuilt in 2013. The lakeshore was updated in 2017 with new seawall and improved landscaping allowing more lounging space. There are two washers and two dryers provided as well.
The cabins offer visitors a warm, homey feel to relax. Updated luxuries make this cozy cabin a peaceful retreat. Decor includes antlers and hides native to Montana. The cabins comfortably sleep 16 guests. It's the perfect family stay for visitors with children. During cherry season (end of July beginning of August) visitors can enjoy famous regional Flathead cherries to their hearts content.
Visitors will be challenged to find a location so close to the lakeshore, with so many nooks to enjoy the space inside and outside. The property offers close up views of the lake throughout the interior cabins. Step outside the front door and you are steps away from stairs that lead to the lake. The lakeside patio includes a fire pit, picnic table, lounge chairs and sun umbrella. The lake is so close to the lower cabin that you can stand on the balcony above the patio and boat dock, and throw a stone into the lake. The pristine lake is clear and perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, jet skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding or just lounging around in an inflatable raft by the boat dock. Islands on the lake are nearby and can be visited by jet ski or boat. We have had several repeat visitors who have been renting every year since the property has become available, as it has become their favorite place to get away for a peaceful retreat.
The cabins are only 8 miles from the nearest town and about 20 minutes from Big Fork, a great tourist destination. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Mission Mountains, Mission & Flathead valleys and Flathead Lake on your way to Glacier National Park, The Bison Range, and other Federal & State Parks all within a 2 hour drive or less. The lake is surrounded by State Parks that allow camping and have boat ramps. The perfect retreat for a visit in Big Sky Country. We highly recommend guests purchase travel insurance as wildland fires can affect the area.
No overnight parking of boats in lake. Water toys (e.g. jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards) must be pulled up overnight. Storms come in quickly.
Special events (e.g. weddings, parties or gatherings where more guests are on the property) must be pre-approved. Parking is limited.
Safety: Cameras are on the premises for security purposes. Caution- cement pad, sea wall and boat dock are right on the water without rails. Decks that are high above ground, and stairs in both cabins, and high retaining wall by garage. Children must be supervised at all times.
Front deck on lower cabin closest to water has 15 person max. capacity.

Beautiful place. Lots of room for large familys and very well supplied. Dock area is perfect w lots of chairs and umbrellas.
The location near Finley Point can't be beat! We spent much time kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing, and the water was never crowded. We especially appreciated how well appointed the kitchens were, plenty of utensils and cookware. My family would love to stay here again. John T.
This place is amazing! Not only is the location perfect and the owners super responsive, they have (literally) every possible thing you could need! Honestly, all you need to bring is food and clothes. The lake temperature was perfect, the beds are comfy and the homes are beautiful!
The property was just what we needed to bring together 18 people from 5 families. We had plenty of space for sleeping, playing and dining. The beach area was perfect for kids to be jumping in and swimming. There were plenty of towels and even some sunscreen! We enjoyed picking some cherries and hanging out as a family. Brad got back to me right away each time I sent a message. We would go back in a heartbeat.
This rental has everything provided and more! We were fortunate to have amazing weather, and we spent a lot of time enjoying the lake. The property is close to golfing, boat rentals, Big Fork Playhouse, and shopping. We were able to spend quality time with our family and enjoy the beautiful views from the cabins. Several days we enjoyed watching a bald eagle fly over as we sat in the many comfy sitting areas by the lake. This is a wonderful rental!
We really enjoyed these two cabins. Plenty of space for our group. All three kitchens were very well stocked with all the needed items for cooking meals for 15-20 people. It was a quiet place, and the views each evening at sunset were spectacular. We especially enjoyed a few evenings of cooking s'mores over the fireplace down on the dock area.
We were all amazed at the spaciousness of this place. We all had room to spread out even with 15 adults and three youngsters. The older family stayed in the upper house and that was nice. The lake level was beautiful...really everything was thought of and I would love to stay again...
The property was gorgeous and met our family needs. We had 6 adults, 3 teenagers, and 1 small child in the lower cabin and 6 adults and 3 children and a small child in the upper cabin. The upper cabin doesn’t have a living room located on the main level but does have a great deck where we gathered in the evening. The cabins are much more updated than pictured and decorated beautifully. Our only major complaint was communication regarding the fires. The cabin is located on mile marker 8 and the fires reached mile marker 9. We were following the local fire fighters FB page to get the most up to date information. Initially Brad was very responsive to our inquires regarding our access and then a little less responsive as the uncertainty increased. Overall it was stressful as 21 people were getting on flights and we didn’t know if we would have anywhere to stay. But once we gained access and everyone was settled we had a fabulous week!
This property was absolutely perfect for our 4 generation family consisting of 25 people from infant to 87 yrs old! The number of bathrooms in the lower house was challenging as was the descent to the dock for the older members of the group, but we all managed just fine and made wonderful memories.
I have been planning a family reunion for at least two years, since we haven’t gotten together in so long - as our family is all over the country (and covid). We found this property and it was the perfect location for us - my brother in law brought his boat from Idaho, and we had enough space to have the older generations in one house and my generation with all of our kids in the other. We had a fantastic time. Here comes the “BUT” We followed all instructions (mind you VRBO said check out was noon but there was a sign in the cabin that said 10…) including stripping beds, bringing all garage to the cans at the top of the driveway even though there were not enough cans for the trash, we cleaned all dishes, and we did more cleaning like sweeping and wiping things down. After we left we got messages from the owner stating four beds were peed on, a light was broken, pillows were missing, and there was extra cleaning charges due to some spots of blood on the cement pad by the lake. At one point my niece scraped her leg (the blood) and one night my nephew wet his bunk bed…however that was early on in the trip and we cleaned the mattress & pad and sheets…NOT FOUR BEDS. The owner claimed there was a wet spot on one of the queen beds - which only had adults - and charged us for an entire new bed. Mind you the adults that slept there said there was a stain to begin with. The owner claimed we took throw pillows - we told him we put the extras in the utility closet…and we were flying home so there is no way we could have taken them. He charged us for the pillows. The owner claimed we broke an LED light - we did not…it was hanging down when we arrived. Needless to say this very poor interaction after we left the property left a very sour taste in our mouths. Be aware that the contract states the owner can charge up to $1000 for incidentals after your stay. He certainly took advantage of that. I have rented places all over the world, through VRBO and other rental companies, and never have I encountered this situation - I am still wrapping my head around the fact that this rental owner did this and I had to pay almost $700 extra. Going forward I am going to do a video walk through of any property I rent, before and at the end of our stay, stripping beds to confirm EXISTING stains on beds and noting when there are no waterproof covers on beds (it is a rental, that should be a non issue).
