Lewistown, Montana
Absolute solitude. This end-of-the-road cabin sits on 40 acres to explore. It has no cell service, no TV and no internet, yet is only 15 miles from beautiful Lewistown. The master bedroom has a queen bed, the loft bedroom has two singles. There is a couch with a fold out bed. Large wrap-around deck for great views of the local wildlife. Pets are welcome and there is a large fenced-in yard. The Lewistown area is home to a blue-ribbon trout stream, hunting, hiking as well as shopping and restaurants.

This was a great place to stay.the owners are great too.remote,quiet.hated to leave.
Spectacular location. Remote, quiet; hikes right off the porch. Many deer and other wildlife. Absolutely beautiful. Owners extremely personable.
What a wonderful place, clean , very secluded. Awesome place if you’re looking for a place on top of the mountain. Great communication with the owner Stephen. Can’t say enough great things about the place and people- hopefully we’ll be back
Quiet, comfortable & relaxing. Would definitely book again.
This is a very quaint and peaceful property. We spent 5 days there and enjoyed every day.
Amazing location, stay and property! Thank you!
The cabin was beautiful and the surrounding nature. We also had a really great experience with the host!
We love the seclusion and overall beauty of the house and area! We have have two Bernese Mountain dogs and they are in heaven when up at the South 40 Cabin! The kitchen is fairly equipped. It was chilly when we were there this last time and we used the propane fireplace! It helped to take the chill off of the cabin. The bed is comfortable. We didn’t use the fire pit because it had been dry out but have in the past! Overall it is a great experience and we will be booking again next year!
We couldn't have asked for a better location! Gorgeous views! We loved seeing the deer every morning and evening. Private setting, and so nice and quiet! We will definitely be back!
This was an ideal spot to reminisce about childhood camping trips in the mountains because of the remote location, the wild flowers and a fire pit. At this stage in our lives, it was terrific to have a cabin with all the amenities instead of setting up a tent, sleeping on the ground and cooking with a camp stove or open fire. Another memory was made. Thanks to the host for making this possible.
My husband, our dog and I visited the cabin over the long 4th of July weekend. We went to escape non stop fireworks in our area, and we accomplished that with complete solitude and quiet. The cabin is situated in a beautiful area. This year everything is very green and lush due to the many spring rains. The road to the cabin is very interesting, with many wildlife sightings. Deer, marmots, vultures, squirrels, deer, and even a bear cub. The cabin accommodations were as advertised, and very adequate. We enjoyed the fire pit, and s’ mores. If you want peace and quiet you will not be disappointed!
So nice. Secluded up on a mountain. Saw chipmunks, turkeys, deer, marmats, birds. Dog loved the yard. Very comfy with lift and fireplace. Very clean. Host was available at quickly if needed, but everything was perfect so did not need to call.
We had a great time. I love how far off the beaten path it is. Little to no service was a blessing. We will absolutely stay there again.
We were really looking forward to this getaway! We went up to visit my brother-in-law’s grave, whom we buried a year ago to date! The property was beyond what we expected! We loved the property, cabin and accommodations! We were a little hesitant on how to get to the cabin but our many calls to Steve assured us we were going the right way! Steve was available at any time for any concerns or questions! Highly recommend this place and checking on future stays! We went into town and had coffee at the The Coffee Cup. Visited a Spice shop which had some amazing spices! Before leaving in the morning, we went to the 406 Cafe downtown for breakfast, which was delicious!
The South 40 cabin offered a nice place for us during our MT trip, had everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Very relaxing and peaceful location.
Really cool cabin in a beautiful spot. Great place to get away and relax.
The location was great! I was staying there for work and corporate actually moved me a round and i never spent a night in the cabin. But it was a cool place and the owners were very cool and easy to get along with.
This is a great property to stay at if you're looking for some seclusion in nature. While its off-the-grid you definitely won't be roughing it as the cabin has all the necessities you could want. We stayed here on a hunting trip and the cabin was the perfect place to come back to after a long day.
The South 40 Guest cabin was exactly as expected. Beautiful setting , simple, quiet, comfortable and tidy. My husband & I were greeted by Stephen and guided to the cabin from his yard , which we really appreciated. The road is a straight up & down mountain road, our suburban handled it just fine. Guests will need the right vehicle to access the cabin. There is a picnic table & firepit to enjoy the outdoors. Lots of land for exploring. We hope to return someday! Lewistown is a great place to visit. Small town feel- mom & pop town. Lots of dining, shops and our highlight was the Charlie Russell Chew Choo Dinner Train.
We had a wonderful time staying here. It was very peaceful and quiet. Yard was great for our dog to enjoy freedom to play without danger of running off. Enjoyed the forest view all around and freedom to roam the property. 5 days of absolute bliss!!!
