Beautiful cook's kitchen stocked with all you need to make your stay special.
Over 1/2 mile waterfront on the property with mountain and pastoral views.
An 80-year old restored farmhouse, nestled in the mountains on the outskirts of the town of Burnsville, North Carolina.
This artistic home is situated on 18 acres and over a 1/2 mile of River frontage on the famous Cane River that is stocked with trout.
Experience this home with river rock showers, full chef's kitchen and warm colors and lighting throughout. The area is rich in history and local culture. Make sure you make some time to visit local museums and walk along the town square in downtown Burnsville.
An incredible farmer’s market is held on Saturday spring-to-fall and is rich with local produce and organic products.
Pass through the town, you will continue to drive along country roads and pass picturesque cows and old barns. We guarantee a smile will cross your face and your shoulders will begin to relax.
The worries of life somehow will be forgotten. Often parked along the sides of the road are trucks where local fly fisherman and their sons are fishing for trout. Make sure you wave and say hello.
Some mornings as you drive, you will see a herd of deer cross the misty road as they come to the Cane River to drink or look for berries. Often, you will cross paths with roosters and chickens as they search for food. Watch too for small bears along the river, but please just observe!
As you turn onto the driveway, cross over the Cane River and enter the property, make a mental note of the local swimming hole on the left. It is a favorite watering hole in the summer and locals call it the “rope hole”. Good for cooling off in the summer.
Pass the entry gate, and you will see an old cattle barn. In summer months, grapes grow on the vines up and along the top of the roof of the barn. When they ripen, make sure you pick a few.
After you settle in, take some time to sit on the rocking chair porch with a glass of wine or sweet tea. The rockers are hand-made by locals. You can listen to the water as it flows over the natural rocks and giant boulders and the water passes along the shores of the pristine Cane River.
Mornings are great for walking along the path of the river located just outside your back door.
Wading in the river is a must for the summer afternoons. We suggest wearing old tennis shoes or such for traction. Unlike swimming pools, cut-offs and old t-shirts are preferred!
Dinner out with “people watching” is fun in downtown Burnsville. But most like to cook in our state of the art “country” kitchen using local produce and fish. The kitchen is a favorite of most and is equipped with a double oven and nice cookware. There are plenty of plates and utensils for families. The chilly water from the tap is from a hand-dug water-well, so please use what you need conservatively.
There will be plenty of room to serve your meals from our antique 12-foot long table from an old-local country-store. Everyone will enjoy dinner as they pull up a bench round the dinner table. Entertainment optional….talk and get to know each other again.
FYI - Driveway could be icy/snowy in winter months - please have adequate vehicle. Driveway is level but there are some turns. End of Dec - end of Feb mostly. Driveway is gravel and maintained.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. We will be back when its warmer
Brown trout caught, evenings enjoyed under the Edison lights by the waters, floats down the stream were enjoyable, and super
This is one of the best river cabinets i have ever stayed in. Located in the northern part of NC right in the mountains its the perfect fall experience. Plenty of fishing and river activities..swimming and tubing for sure in the summer. We will book this again.
We will be a return guest for sure. Great house and property!
This property was more precious than the pictures even show. Bob & Lisa communicated everything we needed to know, and the place was perfectly clean. We had the perfect stay and will definitely come again.
Great location to explore Western North Carolina.
This house was so amazing. The pictures were great, but it was even better in person. We can't wait to return in the summer and get in the river. Such a beautiful home and property, hard to explain in words.
This is our second trip back and we had a great time tubing in the river as well as hiking and relaxing on the porch. The location is close to everything in downtown, yet very private and quiet. A true gem!
I can’t say enough about this home! This was our second time staying here and we have enjoyed it every time! Bob and Lisa are super friendly and helpful! The kitchen is amazing, especially if you like to cook! We spent evening chatting by the Cane River, lighting campfires, skipping stones, telling stories, and making memories! Do yourself a favor and just book it!
We absolutely LOVED this property. We have stayed at a lot of rental properties on our vacations, but this one wins above all. Plus we were allowed to bring our thirteen year old fur baby. We stayed in January 2022 when it snowed almost a foot and it was AMAZING. We will be back.
We enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. Usually we go hiking and sightseeing during our vacation, but the property was so wonderful that we rarely left. We caught enough trout for dinner, enjoyed the fire pit most evenings, paddled in the swimming hole, explored the river, birdwatched, and even spotted a hellbender. The downstairs bedroom and bath were perfect for my mother with mobility limitations, and the kitchen was well stocked. We'd definitely stay again!
Perfect place for quiet and relaxation. The home has been thoughtfully restored and the furnishings are comfortable. The property is stunningly beautiful. Close to town, but you feel as if you are away from city life. Thanks for providing such comfortable bedding. Not all vacation rental properties do so. Plenty of towels provided for two and a high-end washer/dryer if needed. Love the long gravel drive way to the house along side the river. Two deep swimming holes right in front of the house with beach area for those who just want to sit and watch rather than participate. We did have issues with the internet. Our cell phones (ATT & Verizon) would not connect (even as a hotspot). Contacted the owner, and she responded quickly with some suggestions to solve the issue. Turns out the router cord was loose, so their internet worked afterwards, but only briefly because the breaker box kept tripping and shutting off the power to most of the outlets in the living room including the window air condition unit. The house does not have central air. Downstairs, it wasn't needed for most of our stay (last day it got very warm). The window unit upstairs was also not working properly. Noticed a filter light was showing. Despite the additional fans provided and opening windows, it was really warm upstairs. Shutting the doors to that bedroom and running the fan helped keep the master bedroom relatively cool for sleeping. Check out Burnsville. So cute! Great eating establishments for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plenty of neat shopping and their was a farmer's market on Saturday morning. The people are warm and friendly. We really liked The Garden Deli and Cast Iron Kitchen, and Hog Hollow Wood Fired Pizza. Plentiful hiking in the area too.
We had a great time! We love the area, and really loved the location of the farmhouse…beautiful spot on the river…perfect spot to relax with our pup!
We so enjoyed our time at this property. I don't think I've ever stayed in a rental that was SO clean and well organized. The river and beautiful surroundings provided for the perfect environment to relax. Burnsville is about 15 minutes from the house and has a great local brewery with live music and we sampled a barbecue restaurant that was great. We also drove to Mount Mitchell - which took us about an hour one way. Overall would definitely recommend this property!
Talk about a dream location! This farmhouse has so much charm it is breathtaking. It’s secluded and you have the perfect location to fish! This home has everything you need. I always pack everything, but I didn’t need to! They truly take the time to think of all the details. While remote, it isn’t far from town. Ingles is only about 12 minutes away. Hog Hollow Pizza was wonderful, too. Highly recommend the Java place! Ask for the Orange creamsicle smoothie. You won’t regret it!
