Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Good river view. The river is deep enough to swim in if you can brave the steep bank and submerged boulders. A relatively secluded cabin; no one was in the three other cabins on the short road. We took many walks on the roads without seeing anyone except deer and geese. The pillows upstairs were too thick so bring your own unless your neck is as long as a giraffe's. Drive in is fine except the last 100 yards, which is steep and starting to wash away. Very comfortable cabin, no other complaints.

Deer are everywhere and they will let you feed them corn from just 1-2 feet away. Everything was clean, the hot tub, sauna, everything, which isn’t always the case at others we have stayed. This cabin had everything for the dogs and they had the best time! We were able to access the river like we thought we would be able to, the embankment is too high to fish or swim directly behind the cabin. Also, there was a burn ban our entire stay, so were unable to use the fire pit.

Based on that, we assumed it would be more easily accessible and not located high up in the mountains—but that wasn’t the case. The cabin is about a 15-minute drive up winding mountain roads, which can be pretty nerve-wracking if you’re not used to that type of driving. There are no guardrails and little to no room for error, which made coming and going stressful.The road directly leading to the cabin was another challenge. The listing described it as “moderately steep,” but that felt like an understatement. It’s significantly steeper than expected and may be difficult for some vehicles or drivers.One thing to note is that you don’t receive the exact address or directions until about 10 days prior to your stay, so by then you’re already committed.On the positive side, the rental company was very communicative and easy to work with, which we appreciated.As for the cabin itself, the rooms were smaller than anticipated. The bottom floor stayed very cold and we weren’t able to get it to a comfortable temperature during our stay. Additionally, the shower on the lower level requires a bit of a step up to get into—something to be aware of—and the water pressure overall was fairly weak.Overall, the cabin just wasn’t the right fit for us. The stress of getting to and from the property ended up taking away from the relaxing vacation experience we were hoping for.

The driveway is a little scary at first, but after going up and down it a couple of times it’s fine. The scenery is amazing, we had a bunch of deer come by to nibble on feed bought for them. The fishing was ok, my son caught one bass (I think) and was happy. We wound up not bringing our pup, but I would rate this 5-star in terms of being dog-friendly. The entire bottom deck is gated and the gated area for bathroom-time is more than sufficient for a dog to do its business. We loved it and would love to return!

We built a campfire at the firepit and made smores. We built a fire in the fireplace. The kitchen was stocked with Kerig,coffee pot, crockpot,kitchen scissors and panini maker. The only thing missing was a can opener. There was a nice screened in porch to sit and look down at the river (which has a few rapids just not time of year to be in the water). We saw 4 deer walk right up one morning and one night a buck on the property. There are crows and squirrels also. I would stay here again. 😀

We got a lot of down and relaxing time something we truly needed. I would recommend this cabin to anyone needing a relaxing get away. The cabin was well stocked with everything you need but food.

We read the reviews and knew it would be a bit of a windy-road adventure getting to and from the cabin. That was ok for us, because we wanted to spend most of our time just being and not running around. That said, it no joke takes more than 15 minutes just to get out of the neighborhood.We loved that the whole community is basically a deer sanctuary, and we enjoyed feeding them (a couple even by hand!). The cabin had everything we needed for the relaxing vacation we wanted. What I didn't expect was there to be a campground located directly across the river. Overall it wasn't too much of a detractor but did take away from the serene atmosphere to some degree. (I think there was a scout group there the first couple nights, and there were some rowdy competitions going on one day.) I'm guessing it's less of an issue when it's not a holiday weekend.One other thing to be aware of is the steep grade down to the water. We loved sitting on the sturdy Adirondack chairs down there, but it's a bit of a hike if you forget something or need to make a couple trips.I would definitely recommend this cabin to a family with kids. For us we'd prefer something a little quieter and slightly easier to get to. Again, it was great overall!And of course we will rent from Sliding Rock again and again!!

The cabin is well-equipped, clean, and comfortable and is right on the river. Saw lots of beautiful deer. The owners even provided food for us to put in the deer feeders so we could watch them eat! Great porches. We highly recommend this cabin.

It was our second visit and everything was great with the cabin, well stocked kitchen, great management. And the bonus was the deer who came to the feeders. The weather was beautiful and we visited Panorama Orchard and Chateau Meichtry vineyards. A great second visit and we are planning a third next year.
