Forks, Washington
Hello. At this time of the corona virus outbreak. Here are some reassurances about my place.I am on the West end of Jefferson County. 65 miles from Port Angeles and 110 miles from Aberdeen. The closest town is Forks and that is 15 miles away. There is a large grocery store. I am isolated, with no super close neighbours and in the middle of 27 acres of pristine forest land. I have my own well and I have it tested every year. My crew of helpers are doing a great job of keeping the property clean and comfortable. We get lots of great comments about this. Our favorite comment..."We can't wait to come back". The decks, gazebo, huge yard ,and the wonderful trails are really fun to relax around. And so quiet too.
It was a nice getaway that was very peaceful. The house and property had a lot of character.
Unbelievable place to stay. Wonderful location that was beautiful and so close to Hoh rainforest. Owner made a few trails with labeled plants (with a fun quiz for the kids) that were so beautiful. Fun outdoor shower as an option. Just so far above and beyond what we had expected. I can not recommend highly enough.
I liked that this property had everything you needed. There’s def a lot going on inside, but it’s very well organized! The outside shower was pretty cool, and the fire pit was well nice! Extremely secluded, and it was a great place to get away from civilization! Ha!
We LOVED Kamala's Happy Valley Homestead!! Such a lovely, comfortable, homey feel; a quiet place in the woods, far from people and noises. Two bedrooms and one bath, warm and well stocked with sheets, blankets, everything you need in the kitchen, and TONS of DVDs. There isn't TV reception at all, so keep in mind that you will entertain yourself with games, movies, or books (or cooking & eating :)). The road that leads to HOH Rainforest is only 1/2 mile up the road (~6 miles back to the hiking trails). Note that getting to the HOH EARLY (~7-8:30 am) will give you the best chance to snag a parking space. It'll cost you $30 for the State Forest pass, which is good for 7 days (we used it for Hurricane Ridge in Port Angeles area). And if going to the mainland via the ferry, be sure to get a reservation early (summer). We were visiting the week after Labor Day, and didn't have any issues, If you like the cabin-in-the-woods idea, HVH is highly recommended!
This little home is set on 27 beautiful acres of newer growth spruce, fir, pine and birch trees. Nature trails are marked in the woods (easy walks). Small creek was running. It is so peaceful to wake up here! The optional outdoor shower had plenty of hot water, as did the indoor one. Beds are soft and comfy. We were lucky to meet Kamala, as she was staying in her little cabin by the gate. She had some great hiking suggestions. Location is just a couple of miles from the entrance to the Hoh Rainforest and visitor center, with various lovely hikes. (We saw a Black Bear and cub and elk, all from a respectful distance. ) A short part of the road going to the house is neatly groomed gravel, not a problem. We would love to go back and bring the rest of the family!
So close to the Hoh Rainforest, large private property. So peaceful. The cabin itself has everything you need and more, the owner was so friendly and communicative. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
Wonderful homey space. Great hikes in the rainforest on the property. Excellent communication.
I rented the cabin for a short vacation in November 2017. I can honestly say my expectations were exceeded. The property is secluded and gorgeous with plenty of trails. The cabin was stocked with cooking utensils, rain gear, and other outdoors supplies. Overall it was a very cozy and pleasant place to stay. I especially loved the VHS collection. I haven't watched a VHS in years and it was a good bit of nostalgia. Highly recommended. I know I will be back.
We have 3 young boys and 2 labs, everyone had a blast!! We explored the area by day and enjoyed the fire, stars and games in the evening. Having trails right on the property was awesome! Short trip, would love to have stayed longer!
The place was as we expected. The setting was gorgeous and we enjoyed some short walks on the property. It was a great location...central to Ruby Beach, the Hoh Rainforest, Rialto Beach and 2nd Beach. The cabin was well stocked and clean. It had everything we needed to cook our meals while we were there. Space heaters and floor board heaters kept us warm. Certainly not a 5 star resort, but we weren't expecting that. The description was accurate. Lots of information in the cabin about the surrounding areas. We did lose power in a storm our last day, so we had no electricity, heat (minus a propane heater that said not to use while sleeping), hot water, phone, or cell service. We opted to leave a day early because of this.
We loved our stay at Kamala's little cabin in the Hoh Valley rainforest. The biggest attractions to the place include the fact she has a few miles or so of private trails all around her. The trails are clearly marked so you won't get lost. You'll notice fun monuments strewn about the trails like Nurturing mother, a gorgeous over grown tree with stunning visible root growth. My friend and I were able to meditate in peace within the rainforest in privacy without loud obnoxious tourists all about. The main reason we chose this place was for the privacy and ability to sleep within the rainforest. The other thing I was absolutely sad to leave behind was her all natural outdoor rain shower. There is something very electric and ethereal about taking an outdoor shower in rainforest rain water. Just wow!! The water actually feels electric on the skin, making me contemplate what bathing in tap water might actually do to our spirits/happiness. I took a shower outside at 6:30AM when it was cold, and loved the rush of staying warm in the living water. I've never felt so energized in mind/body/spirit by water in my life. If only I had access to one of these year round. So sad to leave it behind! We were also super pleased with the cleanliness of the home and the kindness of firewood being available outside. We had a fire three nights in a row and roasted bratwursts directly over the fire. Having a retreat so private in the rainforest was all we could have hoped for.. Thanks so much Kamala for everything! What an amazing place! 3 I hope we can return soon!
Second time there. Mostly to go to rain forest. Very well situated. We were most 3 grownups and 2 kids. Worked fine but a bit tight.
Very enjoying stay
Our family loved everything about our stay! The Cabin was so cozy, all of our needs met even toys for our boys to play with. We loved grilling outside and the outdoor shower. It was so clean and comfortable beds. It truly was the perfect getaway for our family. Thank you Kamala and your awesome housekeeper Wanda!
Hoh River Hideaway is an absolute gem! My friend and I went to the Washington coast for a girls getaway. This was the perfect spot. Very clean, cozy, welcoming and fun. There were games and movies for rainy days, fully supplied kitchen and laundry. We loved the natural beauty surrounding us. The trails, fire pit and outdoor shower made it a very unique and special experience. Hoping to return for a longer stay.
We had a lovely 3 nights in this well maintained cottage. It was situated down a very quiet country road, close to the Hoh rainforest road. The large property was itself inside rainforest and the owner Kamala had constructed pathways around the house into the rainforest. Most modern conveniences were available in the cottage, and there was a pergola with a gas BBQ outside, as well as an ouside rainforest shower. There was also an indoor shower if you preferred. With easy access to the Hoh rainforest and Rialto Beach, this was a perfect place to stay while exploring these wonderful places. Keith and Glenda, Australia.
Kamala - I just can't thank you enough for giving us the holiday of our life. This is such a beautiful quaint property, 27 acres to ourself and just surrounded by the beauty of mother nature. We came for a girls trip , 4 of us and we could not be more than happy to have stayed here. We wished we stayed here another day instead of the lake Quinault lodge. This property spoilt us. Cute rustic home stocked up with all the essentials. The beautiful gazebo and firepit and all greenery. The private trail through the rainforest all for ourselves was so enjoyable. Kamala has put a lot of thought into this property and also she told us about how hard she had to work to build this property. It has so much history and I am so in love with this place that we never wanted to go back. I will recommend this to all my friends and also visit with my husband and son very soon. It's very close to the hoh rainforest trails (hall of mosses) and Forks,WA. Stay here for your entire vacation and drive around eveyrwhere from here. Ruby beach, rialto, hall of mosses, forks, suldoc falls... Everything is just a couple of hours drive away...
