The property is jaw droppingly gorgeous, we loved sitting next to the waterfall with the outdoor fireplace burning. There were 12 of us and we all had ample space. We celebrated Christmas here and felt equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and loved having the game room as a place for the kids to play. Be warned that you get no phone service or wifi, which we knew going in, but we did have a few people get lost on the way and were not able to contact us so make sure you map your route. There were also only 2 small trash cans for trash and with a cabin this large it filled up quick over our stay. Overall, we would love to visit this cabin again!
Pros; Location , one of a kind property in remote part of TN, waking up every morning was a dream! House is fully stocked with everything you need to cook and just stay there as a retreat. About an hour drive to Gatlinburg or pigeon forge. Space! Traveling with older children , each had their own room and bathroom which was perfect! Beds had comfortable linens and every room had a tv. Perfect his and her bathrooms in the master!!! Cons; no internet and phone signal is very weak. We arrived without power due to wind storm, would recommend an emergency box maybe by the front door with flashlights. Showers water pressure is low. Tried to use the jets in master tub and got covered in residue, very gross! Other recommendation would be throw blanket in the living room. Management company was fast to respond to any issues.
We had a couples retreat at the Black Bear Lodge and the home was stunning. It was clean and looked exactly like the pictures on the site. The only issue we had was that there were several leak in the kitchen. We call about the leak on Friday evening and we never got anyone to come out. In fact the maintenance person called us the following Monday after we returned home. Leaks are under the sink and in the kitchen ceiling from the master bath upstairs.
The whole experience was very easy and everyone I spoke with concerning the rental property was very helpful. Black Bear Lodge is great for a large family!
We paid for a cabin that we did not get. We got relocated because of the snow storm which is fine nothing we can control, the snow was on Monday our trip was Friday they waited until from at 1pm to call and tell us we had to change cabins. Then they gave us a cabin that was over $900 cheaper but didn’t give us any money back.
we rented for 3 days, the 2nd day there was no electricity, no water, no wifi no internet so contacting was very difficult. the first time I called to report the power failure, they said they would contact me again, but I waited and still didn't see it, I called the second time, they said they didn't know or didn't hear the notification, and at that time I decided to leave this house. the weather is cold, there is snow, no electricity, no water, I have written letters and newspapers many times but the customer service department is still not interested and inquired about customers. They don't care what happens to our family. very disappointed, never come back
Cabin was very nice, plenty of space. Waterfall was relaxing and cool.
Finding the place at first was a little hard, definitely recommend showing up while it's still light out. Once we found it, we were blown away by the house. It's so quiet and secluded. The bedrooms were great and everyone enjoyed having their own bathrooms. The beds were a little on the hard end but still pretty comfortable. Loved the steam shower in the master bath also. We had a friend(bear) come up to the house almost every night. And even with the trash being locked up on our last night he managed to break it, somehow. We got so many good pictures of him though.
Location is remote and hard to find but our family enjoyed the seclusion. Needs turn around space for parking area. House had not been cleaned when we arrived, needs a good thourgh cleaning. Master bedroom shower leaks through the floor to the kitchen underneath!! Grill was disgusting! Resturants are a good 30 to 45 minutes away! Overpriced for the condition of the cabin and availability of resturants and activities.
We had a great time staying in the cabin. The waterfall is beautiful and the house is very big and nice. We did have a problem finding the cabin. If you get off at exit 447 off of I40, it is only about 5 miles. But, the ride the cabin is on has a sign saying “don’t follow your GPS, it is wrong”. That toad is Trail Hollow Road which is the road the cabin is on. If you turn there, you will get there very quickly. If you don’t turn there you have to go all way around to go in from the other end. They should put that in the notes for directions. we also had a small leak in the kitchen come in from upstairs somewhere. One of the tubs on the main level was holding water and wouldn’t drain. The cabin needs a thorough cleaning, It was not very clean in the kitchen pods and gadgets for spread everywhere. Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed the cabin and the waterfall very much.
