This was a comfortable, well-stocked base for our visit to the northern Adirondacks. We had several days of rain, so we spent more time in the house than we expected. The house is nothing fancy, but roomy and cozy. Baseboard heaters are really effective. Beds were comfortable. Wifi was strong and reliable. Kitchen was well-stocked, in both kitchenware and spices/sundries. Lots of puzzles and games in the TV room. The basement had a ping-pong table, but we did not use. We had a few questions for the owner, and got a prompt response - within hours.
Every year my family and I head to the high peaks area with our dogs for a long weekend in October. This is our 2nd year in a row at this property, and it felt like coming home, in a way. It's a beautiful, quiet place, and it has all the comforts of home. Rebecca is a caring and attentive host, who is always a quick text away, if needed. The kids also enjoyed the new ping pong table, which came in handy during the monsoon-like weather we had Satuday! We hope to return again! Thank you!
This was the best stocked home that we have ever stayed at. Perfect ranch home with ramp for easy accessibility last house on a dead end street. Fully stocked kitchen, working grill with utensils, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, lots of blankets, towels, you name it they have it! Lots of games for the kids to play with, Wifi worked great and so did the cable/smart tv. Very cozy and definitely a place we will be coming back to no complaints at all. The owners are very nice and responsive. Some of the pictures may look outdated but don't let that fool you the house is very cozy and a place anyone would be happy to stay
Spacious Adirondack-style house in clearing in forest - amazingly well-equipped and well designed for a comfortable stay. We have friends close by, so we ate out for two of our 4 evenings there - but it was a cinch to prepare food and eat in on the other two evenings. Might be best to bring some basics as nearest big grocery stores are in Lake Placid or Plattsburg. Great breakfast place in Upper Jay - Adirondack Mountain Coffee Cafe - as well as Sugar House Creamery. For a self-catered vacation, house can't be beat - and we didn't even use the games room with big TV, or the large gas grill on the porch, or the fire pit, etc - get the picture?
It was the perfect location for the region, the house and the check in process was smooth. Only complaint is lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms and could have been problematic had the weather been hot and humid.
Nice property, perfect location. Close to food & hikes.
Very nice house clean
We are a group of 6 old friends who meet each year for crosscountry skiing in the Lake Placid area : this was our first stay in this property. We spent 4 nights. The chalet is situated between Jay and Wilmington at the end of a dead end street that is also trail head for a x-c trail system. We could not be more pleased with the setting or the house. The high points are many, and begins with the kind and welcoming attitude of the owners : we felt at home, and do did our pooch. You enter the house from the parking through a sliding glass door that opens into a big, bright living room flanked with with a big picture window, a large kitchen and the best fireplace I've ever seen - super duper draw and no smoke. The kitchen pantry contained much more than the essentials if like us Montrealers, you consider maple syrup an essential, and capers a nice addition. Culinary equipment and utensils are complete ; the collections of coffee cups, mugs and bowls are particularly cool. The three bedrooms (two adult king or queen rooms and one kid's room with two single beds) were comfy, and the master bedroom had a bed large enough for my friend who is 6 ft. 2. He really appreciated that ! There is a laundry room and a separate tv and game room with a fold-out bed that would be great for giving kids a place to hang out. I just appreciated the fact that the conversation of old friends around the fireplace did not have to compete with a game on the TV. We lacked for nothing and appreciated the abundance of good quality and good taste in decor, furnishings, and consumables. If I have to find a a low point I would say that because there is no mud room entry we had to carefully change from boots to indoor shoes at the sliding door threshold to the living room to keep from tracking snow and dirt into the living quarters. In short, nothing lacks and we enjoyed the abundance of good quality and good taste in decor, furnishings, and consumables.
I can't say enough about this gorgeous cabin or the wonderful people who own it. We spent our honeymoon here and it was the most perfect week. We were so charmed by all the antiques and impressed with the very-well-stocked kitchen pantry. Everything we needed, or might have needed, was all right there, and the location is very accessible to some incredible hikes. Rebecca and Wayne are thoughtful, appreciative owners, and their genuine passion is written plainly in everything they do. We are so thankful to have found this place. We will long remember our morning coffees on the porch and evening fires in the living room. This was truly the best honeymoon retreat we could have asked for.
This property was just what we needed and advertised. It was comfortable and clean. It had all the amenities for a super short getaway.
My family and I travel to the area every year for a long weekend in October. This house was the perfect place to feel cozy and make memories with my two kids, ages 5 and 8, my husband, my mom, and our dogs. It's so charming, and we had plenty of space! The fireplace in the living room was fun and cozy. The kids loved the tv and game room. We made smores in the backyard firepit. All of the bedrooms were comfortable, and the kitchen suited all our needs. The location is perfect! We like to feel remote, and you definitely do here, but you're a very short drive to Wilmington, Santa Claus, Lake Placid, and Keene. We would love to return!
