Rustic, cozy, clean Northwoods cabin on a beautiful lake. The lack of stair railings might be difficult for people with mobility issues.

Great location in the northwoods! Mercer is a great little town, Echo Lake is beautiful, clean and relatively quiet. The Shack was very clean and well appointed with dishes, linens and other supplies. The beds are ok, one’s very plush the other is very firm. It’s an old house, so all the smells and creaky floors that go with old homes are present… which we loved. No AC… can get hot but they have lots of fans in the property. There is WiFi and a smart TV. But you will probably just sit in front of one of the big picture windows looking down at the lake! Loved the screened in porch for outdoor meals as well! The beach/lake frontage is ample! We found sand rakes in the shed and were able to clean the beach area for our kiddo (was a fair amount of washed up vegetation) and we really enjoyed that area all weekend. The Dock is sturdy and was a great tie-off for the 16’ fishing boat we brought. There’s also an extension cord running from the shed to the dock for charging boat batteries overnight. Appreciate the rocker at the end of the dock, was a great place to watch sunsets. I think the path down to the beach from the house could use some TLC. The pavers move under your feet and create a hazard for older and younger folks making their way down. Overall great stay!!!

We had a wonderful time at The Shack on Echo Lake. Kitchen had everything- utensils, appliances, dishes, etc you could ask for to feel right at home. Spacious living and dining area, cozy bedrooms, and the outdoor area is a dream. Private beach and pier with plenty of driveway room to ride bikes. The screened porch is an added bonus to have meals outdoors but no bugs! The property manager was fantastic. Super responsive and helpful with all our questions. Highly recommend and will stay again.

Great location, near town and on a nice lake. Kichen was outdated, but clean and usable. We will go back

Very nice rental in a good location. Our second rental here. The walkway to the lake is a hazard with rotten timbers and shifted bricks. Sent an email to the property manager regarding a forgotten pepper mill. No courtesy of a reply.

This cabin is a north woods family cabin. A cabin with many generations that have passed through it. The morning and evening views were exceptional and the screened in porch was perfect for hang out time with family and friends. The interior is a north woods cabin that has been around for years. Exactly what a Wisconsin person would expect in a family owned cabin. No high end frills and expensive decor, just a place that has all the amenities that a person needs with the quietness and the views to relax every day. Both bathrooms seemed to have been updated with everything working correctly. Contact with the rental group was a minimum with no issues.

Beautiful property with everything that is needed for a lake vacation. The view and privacy was great and the closeness to town was very convenient.

We spent 10 days here. Cottage is very old, dated and the kitchen needs a complete remodel along with pots and utensils. It all fits with the cabin name of The Shack. The interior was tidy. Location was great. We liked the screened in gazebo and double rocker on the pier. Exterior was rough as well. For us, it was a little too rustic.
