Relax and unplug at this peaceful Alaskan glamping retreat. Stay in your own cozy log cabin tucked along Goldstream Creek beside a quiet pond—an excellent spot for wildlife viewing and Northern Lights sightings in winter. The cabin has hot and cold running water at the sink and, NEW this year, a private heated outhouse for comfort even in subzero temps. Showers and laundry are available 1.8 miles away at Goldstream General Store. Winter stays require 4x4 and proper winter tires. The space
Bring your family, friends, pets, kids and enjoy this peaceful and original Alaskan log cabin away from it all positioned right on Goldstream Creek with its own pond with fish and migratory birds.

This is a Dry Cabin with NO RUNNING WATER, NO SHOWER. There is an outside, partially exposed pit toilet giving you a true Alaskan experience. Inside, there's a sink with a faucet connected to a 5-gallon water container. This setup mirrors the reality for many in Alaska, where permafrost prevents well installation. Water must be manually hauled to the cabin, with a jug stored under the sink and a pump for dispensing.
Guest access

The cabin is situated on 2 acres of huge old spruce trees, with Goldstream Creek encompassing the property line, along with your very own little pond where migratory birds love to come and go.
Other things to note
Getting around
You will need a car (or hire taxis and Lyfts) to fully enjoy the area. There is ample parking, so multiple cars are no problem.

Fred Meyer (groceries, all shopping) and gas stations are only 10 minutes from the cabin, the downtown is 15 minutes away, and you are so close to ski trails and hiking Murphy and Ester Domes (right in the middle of both!).

Damage Protection: Insurance vs. Security Deposit
We offer two options for protecting your stay:

Security Deposit – A refundable amount held during your stay and returned after checkout if no damage is found.
Vacation Rental Insurance – A non-refundable, low-cost option that covers accidental damage up to a set limit.

Why We Recommend Insurance:
✔ Better Coverage – Protects against accidental damage beyond what a deposit covers.
✔ Less Upfront Cost – No need to tie up funds with a large deposit.
✔ Hassle-Free – No waiting for refunds or disputes after checkout.

For peace of mind and a smoother experience, we highly recommend choosing the vacation rental insurance option. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Overall, I would have given the whole property 5 stars, but I was horrified to see the sanctions in the message the owner sent me after renting it. Usually such properties have a separate toilet outside. But the owner put a portable toilet inside the property for the convenience of the guests and sent me instructions to clean it. That is, he wrote that after using it, I should dump the dirty waste somewhere. I don't know how to clean the unit. And he wrote that if I don't clean it, he will charge me a hefty mitar cleaning fee. Unfortunately, I couldn't use the restroom, it's horrible. In all facilities, the cleaning fee belongs to the property owner, he should know that... He also wrote that if the empty water jug melts, he will be fined. He should have built a safe for water jugs. He also wrote that there is no garbage collection service in the Arctic and that we should take them with us. I have stayed in 8 different resorts in the Arctic and I have never heard such frightening demands. He wrote and pasted many instructions about TV, Heater, Air Conditioning and other things. It was a horrible experience. Never again....

This cabin in the woods is magnificent! The area is picturesque with easy access. My favorite stay of the entire trip! These hosts have thought of everything and you will not feel as tho you are suffering in a dry cabin! Lol The bed is extremely comfortable and if you are traveling with a pet, they thought of them too! Clearly the hosts have big hearts, good taste, and a nack for hospitality. I can't wait to book again this winter!

Overall it deserves a 5, mainly for communication. Days before check in, and while there, property owners communicated very well to ensure all needs were met. It's most important for me because it was my 1st trip outside the lower 48 and I'm always concerned.. this property management made me very comfortable. And of course the rest is important also...Very clean, has every amenity you'll ever need..fridge, oven/gas stove, water pump for running water, utensils, ect. It's only about 15 minutes from city, but far enough where you'll feel peaceful.

We loved the cabin, and the hosts were very easy to communicate with. We asked for a few extra towels, and they arrived in just a few short hours - we really appreciated this. There are a few things I would have liked to know before we arrived, but they would not have deterred us from staying - we just might have been better prepared. 1. There is really no closet or dresser to unpack in and we had to leave everything in our suitcases. If I had known that I would have probably packed a little differently. 2. We are campers and no stranger to rustic bathroom facilities, but the very narrow path through the snow to the outhouse was an ankle twister. If I had known that in advance, I might have taken the host up on his offer for an inside camp toilet for an extra fee.If you are prepared for those few things I would highly recommend this cabin. It feels very rural, but still within a short driving distance to town and several landmarks. We had a wonderful time visiting Chena Hot Springs, Fairbanks, and Murphys Dome. At Murphy's Dome we saw the most spectacular full clear sky Aurora Borealis display!

We really enjoyed our stay at the very beautifully decorated cabin in the woods. The host even accommodated us having our dog and needing a late check out. Place was very clean, the bed was comfy. Lots of pillows and blankets, plus a full size fridge and gas stove/oven. It even has an air conditioner, which is a luxury In Alaska. We don’t even have one in our home. Easy to find and conveniently located to lots of shopping and food in just a 15 min drive. Thanks again from the Sutton Family.

My wife daughter and I had a good experience at the Fox and Chickadee cabin. Andy was a great host. Wi-Fi was great, my wife and I were able to work remotely. Kitchen had all essential items for cooking. We filled the 5 gallon water jugs for free with spring water at fox springs (2331 Elliot hwy) brand new facility. We were there for all of June and there were mosquitoes.

Adorable cabin. Comfy bed and couch, stove, microwave and fridge. No running water but plenty of drinking water in large jugs. Great location close to town but feels far away. Be aware there is no flush toilet or shower (outhouse is available on site.) Not a big deal for me, I have an Alaska Club membership and a 10 minute drive gets me to a shower. This is common in Alaska in areas of permafrost (which I know as I’m Alaskan) but worth mentioning to those who might not know. Price is like 1/4 what a hotel would cost and you can cook (stovetop and oven), have a fridge, freezer, toaster, even a fire pit outside it you are there in the summer. Amazing little place that I would highly recommend both as a comfortable home base (electricity, TV and internet included) for Alaskans, and a way to experience Alaska living at a place close to town for those from out of state.
