Things to do:

Shenandoah Outfitters is a great place to start in planning your river adventure. It is an easy walk from Deer Forest Lodge. Check out their website or call them to make a reservation if you choose to use them for your canoeing, kayaking, rafting, or tubing adventures on the river.

If you would rather use your own equipment and plan your own river adventure, you can make use of the following boat ramps:

- Bealer’s Ferry Boat launch (about a mile south on Page Valley Road)
- Foster’s boat launch (about a mile north on Page Valley Road)
- Seekford boat launch (4.5 miles north on Page Valley Road)
- Inskeep boat ramp (6.6 miles south on Page Valley Road)

The cabin also provides easy access to some of the area’s best hiking:

- Habron Gap Trail (intermediate/two miles one way), with its trailhead near Foster’s boat ramp: Enjoy stunning views up and down the South Fork of the Shenandoah River until you crest on the Massanutten Trail
- Indian Grave Trail (intermediate/2.6 miles one way): Just beyond the Seekford boat ramp is the trailhead for the Indian Grave Trail, which also summits at the Massanutten Trail.
- Kennedy Peak Trail (intermediate/9.5 mile loop): Don’t give up before you reach the overlook!

You also won’t want to miss the great hiking along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, including the Stony Man, Little Stony Man, Hawksbill, and Old Rag hikes.

Of course, no trip to Luray would be complete without a visit to the iconic Luray Caverns. The caverns are a national treasure and are the most popular caverns in the eastern United States.

Some good restaurants in and around Luray include:

- The Speakeasy Pub
- Broad Porch Coffee
- Watch and Warrant
- The Valley Cork
- Triple Crown BBQ

The Blue Ridge Whisky and Wine Loop goes through Luray. Some locations along the trail that are an easy drive from the cabin include:

- River Hill Distillery (15 minutes)
- Hawksbill Brewing Company (17 minutes)
- Faithbrooke Barn and Vineyards (20 minutes)
- Castle Vineyards (20 minutes)
- Wisteria Farm and Vineyard (25 minutes)

Other area attractions that are worth a visit include:

- Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, with water slides, swimming pools, splash pad, mini golf, ziplines, and more (20 minutes)
- Bear Mountain Adventures, with awesome ziplines and a climbing wall (20 minutes)
- Fort Valley Ranch and Trail Rides (23 minutes)
- Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive (35 minutes)

Guests will have access to the entire cabin and property.

The cabin has keyless, contact-free entry. There is no need to stop and pick up a key. When you arrive in the area, you can go straight to the cabin and unwind.

I will be available at all times while guests are in the cabin, although I try to keep regular business hours as much as possible for the sake of my family. If something needs attention, I will do my best to get it fixed as quickly as possible!

The neighborhood is mostly comprised of vacation cabins full of fellow river adventurers, but there are some full-time residences there as well.

The cabin is on a regular, monthly pest control schedule, but sometimes unwanted bugs may venture inside. This area is home to stink bugs, Asian beetles, wood roaches, gnats, and mosquitos, which may view open windows and doors as an invitation. I recommend keeping windows and doors closed when not in use.

Page Valley Road is a small, meandering backcountry lane that snakes its way along the Shenandoah River, passing campgrounds and cabins galore. A few miles past the cabin, the pavement ends and you will be driving on gravel. Forest Road itself is a dirt road that can be a bumpy drive. I recommend a 4x4 if you are visiting in Winter.

The cabin is in a remote area and there is no broadband internet. We provide Wi-Fi through cellular internet which the best option available, but is not what you would expect to get in a city. Most locals use AT&T or T-Mobile. Verizon is pretty weak.

Check in is at 4:00 pm and check out is at 10:00. These times are fixed. The cleaners keep a very tight schedule and make their plans around this six hour window. Out of respect to them, I cannot make exceptions to these times.

Please note that as a small business, I am not able to grant last-minute refunds, so I highly recommend protecting your investment with travel insurance.

If you do need to cancel and are entitled to a full refund based on our cancelation policy, please be aware that our payment processor, Stripe, may retain a 2.9% transfer fee. We do not retain any money if the guest is entitled to a full refund, but we do not have control over Stripe policies.

My husband and I took a 3 day vacation here , we have 2 children and this is the only time we get to spend just us and i feel like we were robbed of some peace. Let me start by saying the home was beautiful. Upon arrival we went down to get into the hot tub as we had just had a 5 hour drive and it was around 4pm so we wanted to relax before dinner. Not only did the hot tub smell horrendous, it was green and yellow with stuff growing inside of it. We contacted the owner and she called out someone to come fix it. I left note for the guy and we went out on the town because i didnt wanna wasted an hour waiting on someone on my vacation. Upon getting back we went out and it was cleaned but still had a smell . But also had about 5 or 6 chlorine tabs in there that were still there upon leaving 2 days later. So we were never able to use it. Later that night we went to get into the jacuzzi tub ( something to relax together ) even though my husband is 6'2 . We wanted something. We filled it up and got in , turned on the jets and it filled with black gunk and mold. Mortified we got out and showered to get it off of us. Later that night we went to the bed room after watching the World Series in the living room , the TV cord was so loose that emwe had to hold it . So back to the living room untill 2 am to finish it. There were a few other things . I reached out the owner asking her to consider making this right with no response. Almost a month later . Very Disappointed.

We loved this house! Perfect place for my friends and I to have a relaxing weekend. We hiked, went to Luray Caverns and enjoyed the house. The house was perfectly cleaned and had so much space. We especially loved the outdoor area- the hot tub, fire pit, grill and backyard space overall. We look forward to returning!

Dolly, the owner, was wonderful to work with—so helpful, easy to communicate with, and she gave us great tips that made our trip even better. The hot tub was perfectly clean, warm, and just what we needed after paddling 8 miles down the Shenandoah. Our four-legged kids loved it here too!The house was beautifully decorated and had so much space for all of us adults—we never felt crowded. The two jetted tubs were spotless and such a relaxing touch. This stay truly made my birthday unforgettable. A beautiful home, thoughtful host, and the perfect setting—truly a gem!

This cabin was one of the highlights of a girls trip that my friends and I went on! It was very similar to the images posted on Vrbo(surprisingly) and everything was clean and extremely well thought out. We ended up spending every meal together in the cabin on the trip and the fully stocked pantry came in very handy! The hot tub was set up perfectly, so all we had to do was turn it on and jump in! It is located in a nice and quiet area, and while service was spotty around the area, the cabin itself had great wifi! Overall we all had an amazing stay and would recommend this location to anyone looking to do a trip to Luray!!

We enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet while inside, you could hear neighbors talk outside, but not hear what they were saying - sorta like camp. We were allowed to bring the dogs, so that was very nice.

Wonderful cabin, was very clean inside. Outside furniture wasn’t as clean as expected. All the amenities were in working condition, WiFi and Internet connectivity was good. Our favorite was the camp fireplace , hot tub was good but the area needed to be a bit more cleaner for it to be more usable. Overall, we had a fun trip and the stay was good. All the rooms and bathrooms were very clean.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here; it was perfect for our family. The kids enjoyed the games downstairs and everyone enjoyed the luxurious tubs both upstairs and on the main floor. So relaxing after some rafting on the Shenandoah. The proximity to the rental couldn’t be better!!! We could’ve walked there. I wanted to stay longer, truly!
