Escape to a magical mountain getaway at the Cabin at Squirrel Creek. Cascades, waterfalls and 1200 feet of hatchery supported trout stream make this cozy cabin a unique experience. Unplug and recharge as you listen to the bold rushing creek from the two-level deck. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the proximity to hiking, skiing and waterfalls, including the Appalachian Trail and Elk River Falls. Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and Sugar Mountain are all around 20 minutes from the cabin.
This rustic, charming cabin has modern amenities like Smart Frame TV, Keurig coffee maker and gas logs. WIFI is available via Starlink satellite. Cell service can be spotty in this remote location, so take this chance to relax, unplug, and enjoy the soothing sounds of the creek.
The kitchen is well stocked, and the cabin provides games, playing cards, puzzles and books for your enjoyment. There are two queen bedrooms upstairs, one full bath upstairs (connected to master) and one full bath downstairs. The downstairs living room has a new pull out couch with a queen mattress.
The Cabin at Squirrel Creek was lovingly constructed 30 years ago from 150+ year old reclaimed Virginia barn wood. The interior wood paneling was reclaimed from a South Carolina farm house and a nearby general store.
Whether you're looking for an outdoor adventure or just want to get away from it all, the Cabin at Squirrel Creek is the perfect getaway.
Guests will have access to 8 acres of a magical mountain oasis including 1200 feet of a bold rushing trout stream to explore, moss covered boulders, numerous rhododendron, a small waterfall and cascades, and even a rock outcropping with small cave across the street from the cabin. The location is remote and off the beaten path, yet very accessible on a well-maintained state road. The gravel driveway is flat. 4WD/AWD are recommended in the winter during inclement weather.

The cabin was just what we were looking for! We wanted a mountain get away and that is exactly what we got. The coziness of the fireplace and the sound of the stream were a dream.
It was a spectacular cabin & grounds. We ate 2 meals outside on the deck looking at the creek & it was 30 degrees but was just so beautiful! We will definitely return & experience different seasons. It is a great location to get to many attractions and towns. Absolutely a wonderful find!
My husband and family stayed here for a week in the fall. The cabin is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The property rivals a lot of scenery we’ve seen in the Blue Ridge area. As soon as you get out of your car, the sound of flowing water is all you hear. The position of this house amid the forest and flowing stream is perfect. Extremely relaxing experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
