I've noticed this unusual property last year when we already booked our stay in Vermont. This year we really wanted to give it a try, and it was great! Getaway from it all, very private and quiet, amazing views from porch and - especially - from the tower! Owners are super nice people, we had a minor issue with the heating and they came in in 5 mins and quickly fixed it.
Cabin was neat and tidy and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The tower is awesome - views breathtaking! The only sounds were of the birds chatting. Property manager made sure we had all we needed. Absolutely recommend a stay here!
The Slateville Retreat was everything I hoped it would be! The setting and views are unmatched, and the living spaces were spotless and equipped with everything we needed for a peaceful, joyful stay. And our dogs loved it just as much as we did! It was truly hard to leave and I hope to visit again one day.
Heather might just be the nicest person I've ever met. Her and her husband were really down to earth, hard working people who are as kind as they come. They did not hesitate to make us feel welcome. We couldn't thank them enough. Communication was clear and forward from the start and we undersood what was expected, which I appreciate. The property itself is indescribable, it was a captivating view on a quiet mountain. The tower was truly unique. We look forward to going back with the kids next time!
A beautiful getway in the mountains. Cozy, clean, with spectacular views. The lookout tower is a fantastic hangout place, and there is nothing better than waking up to the rising sun after sleeping above the treetops. Looking forward to future visits.
The property and views were beautiful. We were provided with all cooking, cleaning, and sleeping essentials. The farm fresh eggs were an awesome extra.
This is a really special location - we love staying in places that are a little bit different, and this ticked all our boxes. We stayed as a family with two adults and two teenagers - the adults took the lookout tower, and the teenagers the cabin. There was plenty of space, there are many places to sit inside or out, whatever the weather, and the site is secluded but close enough to nearby Granville that going to the store wasn't a chore. The property has amazing views - on fine days the layers of hills fade slowly to the horizon, on cloudy days the valleys are filled with ribbons of mist that swirl around. The night skies are very dark too (unfortunately we had more cloudy nights than not), it would have been great to have brought binoculars! WiFi/internet is excellent at the cabin, but doesn't reach to the lookout (that wasn't a problem for us). At least in the summer when we visited, the temperature of both the lookout and cabin was very pleasant (the cabin has AC, the lookout has the breeze!). Heather was a terrific host, really good communication throughout - she provided us with plenty of eggs and let us swim in the old quarry at her farm which was great fun. Would love to come back one day!
This retreat was exactly what my family was looking for! I can go on and on about how great this place is but I’m going to keep it simple and point out some of my favorites. if your looking for unplugging from the rest of the world “”THIS IS IT””!!!, The view was amazing, The Tower…. that a whole other list I could get into but I will just say one of my favorite is the nice breeze that comes through the tower. The cabin is cozy and well equipped. Overall this place was amazing! My family and I can’t wait to go back. I like to save the best for last our host heather was awesome super informative and attentive. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with my family!
Stayed a long weekend with our dogs and two teenagers. The cabin had every amenity you could possibly need. Really enjoyed early mornings sitting on the porch listening to the birds, and the views from the tower were incredible. Perfect peaceful getaway!!
This was a great place to relax and enjoy my family. Beautiful views from both the cabin and the tower, which is just super cool in its own right. Everything you need is right here as the owner has thought of everything to make the stay enjoyable. I loved the linens and cozy blankets. Lots of nearby farms and u-pick to get fresh vegies and fruits. We used the spacious lawn for disc golf and the dogs enjoyed the freedom to run. Thank you, Heather.
The property was amazing and the views were fantastic. Unfortunately the weather was rainy most of the trip, but we still enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back when the weather is nicer!
A perfect little cabin on a wonderfully secluded property. The PM is super quick to respond and overall, the stay and experience were exactly what we wanted - 5 stars across the board. Campfires, nature walks, board games, and coffee on the back porch watching the sunrise - a perfect start to the new year and we left feeling relaxed and lucky to have spent 4 nights here.
I accidentally chose peak foliage season to stay in this beautiful location. Wow! I slept in the tower so I could wake up to the views I have never seen before. This really is a destination with the best views.
Heather's place was such a great experience! The cabin was nice and clean and had all the comforts of home, while still being quite secluded on a gorgeous property. The property itself is really well maintained and we couldn't get enough of the views from the tower. We were 2 adults and 2 medium size dogs and were very comfortable in the cabin. Heather was super friendly and very communicative, which made the whole experience very easy. We stayed for 5 days, and the cabin's great location allowed us to cross the border into Vermont to hike the green mountains, and experience some nice restaurants in the Glenns Falls area. Definitely recommend and hope to make the trip back up again in the future!
Beautiful property and well appointed. Fresh flowers, extra blankets/throws were a very nice extra touch. Very clean. Cozy in both the cabin and fire tower. We didn’t think to pick up charcoal for the grill until we were there but the kitchen had all the necessary tools. Wish we had booked a longer stay here, it’s a perfect getaway
This is a great getaway spot for close friends or a family with older children who are looking for a peaceful, pastoral experience without giving up the essential comforts. It was charmingly decorated and clean. The views were exceptional.
