Get away from it all and come explore! This 3BR cabin has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Located on an ATV-friendly country road and just 20 min from the New River Gorge National Park. Bring your ATV and ride from the house to many popular off-road trails. The cabin sits on 10 acres with a babbling creek and woods to explore nature. Unplug with limited cell service and no wifi- go hiking, rafting, fishing during the day, and hang out on the porch at night. 15 min from Fayetteville, 25 min to Sommersville Lake.
A true WV rustic mountain cabin getaway!
This cabin is nestled in a remote / secluded WV "holler" (small valley between mountains), where a creek flows and is surrounded by nature. The cabin is perched on a hill that overlooks the babbling creek in the front, and has acres of mature wooded forests to explore in the back.
As you enter the cabin, you immediately get a comfortable, homey feel. The interior was hand crafted with all rough cut lumber, the stone fireplace was built with stones from the property and the large living spaces make for a comfortable family night. The two story living room is open to the Dining and Kitchen. There is a main level bedroom and bath with claw foot tub, and 2 bedrooms upstairs with a shared jack and jill bath, with shower. The wrap around front porch will be your favorite place to relax after a busy day. Kitchen is stocked with Keurig coffee pot and essentials.
With no wifi, this is the place to UNPLUG and relax. Go hiking, white water rafting, biking, fishing, 4 - wheeling , and hang out on the porch swing, read a book , build a fire in the fire-pit, soak in the claw foot tub, and count the stars at night. Let the kids play in the creek, explore the woods, and get back to the basics!
Located in Fayette County, WV, amenities and activities are within a short distance.
NOTE: Rich Creek Rd is a one lane, windy - curvy, gravel (your car will get dirty) road that goes up and down the mountain. 4 Wheel drive is a must in Winter. If pulling a trailer, message us so we can tell you the best way in. This is an old coal miners town.. you will see abandoned houses.
There are lots of pamphlets, maps and info in the cabin.
If you’re looking for an off-the-grid cabin, but within 20-30 minutes of town, this spot is for you! The cabin is well stocked with the basic kitchen necessities. The cabin was super cozy with plenty of room for our family to stay, plus some! There are two porches to enjoy your morning coffee, plus the outdoor fire-pit where we cooked all our meals on the built-in grate. We couldn't have been happier during our stay- will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our stay. The fire pit was inviting and well stocked with kindling wood and firewood. Would recommend for anyone looking to unplug from technology and enjoy the outdoors.
This property had everything you would want in a home away from home. It was beautifully decorated, super clean, and had many extras like bottles of water, teas, snacks, a complimentary s'mores kit, etc. The fire pit area was very nice, and had a removable grate which could be used to cook meals over the fire. The location of the home is close to New River Gorge N.P., Hawk's Nest St. Park, and Babcock St. Park. We had a great stay at this property. Be aware that in order to get to this property you will have to drive some dirt roads, which can sometimes have ruts and bumps. Dirt roads aside, we loved staying at this home away from home!
What a great cabin! Off the beaten path but close to all the great adventures the area has to offer! Everyone in our group, from kids to adults, were so impressed by everything this home has to offer. Upon entering the property, you are greeted by an absolutely amazing porch, which is one of my new favorite places. The inside is so warm and inviting and the extra touches provided by the hosts, make you realize you made the right choice booking this property. None of us wanted to leave and we were barely off the property before our children started planning our next adventure in WV, which we all agree must include the Cabin at Rich Creek!
The property was amazing. Getting of the grid was exactly what we needed. We had 7 adults and were very comfortable. It's secluded, but still close enough to Adventures on the Gorge, Fayetteville, and other attractions. The hosts were very accommodating.
Went with 3 families on a whitewater rafting. The house is beautifully set up with nice wood work, the kids had a great time exploring the place. The kitchen is so well equipped. There was a lot of accessories for the firepit (logs, skewers, etc.). The house was mad cozy with a lot of small touches. As someone else mentioned in one of the reviews, loved the window seat. We had a great time & created a memory for life. Would love to come back!!
We had the very best time. The cabin was picture-perfect. Our hosts thought of everything & we only wish we could have stayed longer to explore all the charming nooks & seating areas the cabin has to offer. Our young adult children never missed the Wi-Fi or the tv and we had great fun playing games and around the fire pit. The whole house in charming and we highly recommend this spot for a rustic mountain retreat!!
The cabin was perfect. We loved the window seat, the fire pit, and the little touches that made it feel welcoming. We wish we could have stayed for longer.
We rented this beautiful cabin for an annual family gathering. Tucked away on a country road away from bigger town, the cabin was a perfect escape from the city. The house features amazing wood work and a cosy setup. Vacationing there does take additional advance planning or a spirit of adventure, as you would not be able to use your phone to research your next trail to hike while sitting in the cabin living room. There are plenty brochures and maps though to look over.
The cabin and property were fantastic. Just as the title suggests, we were able to unplug from the world and decompress for a few days. The cabin is well situated as a base camp to enjoy all of the outdoor adventures the area has to offer during the day, and relax to the sounds of nature at night.
I am not sure where to even begin with this beautiful place!! Four of us packed up the truck and headed from SE Ohio about a 3.5 hour trip. Plenty of room to be together but have our own space when needed. Coffee on the porch is a must! After long days of sightseeing and hiking we were able to come back to the cabin and relax! The fire pit area was the perfect addition to this property!! I loved learning about the story of the Cabin at Rich Creek. Photo albums to share with guests is a nice touch of the property throughout the years. If you want to be nestled deep in the hills of WV this is the perfect place for you! Cannot wait to visit again!
