Stayed here for our anniversary and loved it!! Absolutely gorgeous. Close to town. Close to Wisconsin, close to Illinois, hot tub is amazing. Cabin has everything you could possibly need. Pots, pans, towels like crazy. I would go back any time.
I booked a getaway for my parents at Lorelie Cabins as a Mother/Father's Day gift. My parents were able to relax in clean, comfortable cabin that overlooked the beautiful rolling hills and wooded landscape of the property. The grandkids got in on the action and we fished, went canoing, soaked in the hot tub, explored the trails, grilled out, and spent precious time just reminiscing. We even found time for shopping and dining out in nearby Dubuque
This is the second time my husband and I rented the Aster. The first time was on our anniversary years ago when cabins were first built and no grass around. This time we rented for a weekend along with our adult children and their fiancés' (they rented the other cabin). Beautiful scenery. Very quiet. Our last morning woke up to seeing 5 deer in the backyard early morning. The boys fished in the pond. We had a little bit of problem with the hot water at first, but the proprietors were right on it as soon as we let them know.
I give this place a 5 star plus. I travel often and rent a lot of cabins around the country and this one is great. The owners were wonderful, prompt, helpful and kind. The cabin is very clean and they are very thoughtful to guests. It is mowed and well taken care of, I went on hikes every day on their miles of mowed trails through field and woods. I hiked up a big hill one evening to get a good view of the sunset, and there was a picnic table up there to sit and watch the sun go down. I walked around the pond and found chairs on the other side to relax and enjoy the pond. Table and chairs on the patio, deck, porch and lawn chairs. Big beautiful fire pit with wood ready to use. Everything was excellent! One morning it was raining so I sat in the well maintained hot tub with the water at just the right temperature really enjoying the summer showers. I finally found one thing that was off, the hot tub lift cover was on the wrong side to it blocked the view of the valley. Good to know that they were not perfect. I loved the place and am coming back.
I and four of my high school friends plan a fall get away every year. We chose the Aster/Lorelei Cabins because of the central location for all of us. We loved the cabin and it was perfect for our group. We went into town a couple of times but it was nice just being able to relax, talk and fix a couple of our meals at the cabin. They had firewood ready for us to build a fire which was perfect on a crisp November late afternoon. A couple of us walked the trails which we would like to do again sometime as we ran out of time and didn't get to explore it all. We definitely would like to go back again someday!
The Homestead was perfect for our girls getaway weekend! The ranch-style farmhouse is tasteful country decorated--the cow pictures in the kitchen are adoreable. Furnishings are top quality and oh-so comfortable! We spent most of our time on the spacious deck with beautiful vistas of the rolling hills,or evenings by the fire. We also wandered along the lush pathways for our morning strolls. I am a Certified Specialist of Wine and write a wine blog. This beautiful, cozy setting was perfect for tasting and writing about wine! When we wanted more company, the drive into Dubuque took only 10 minutes where we had coffee in our favorite little shop (The Naughty Dog) or a great meal (Manna Java World Cafe). The Homestead offers the perfect balance between tranquil country living and the bustling choices of the nearby city.
