NOTE: Yes, we are open for business.

Our cabins are located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, Yates County NY. Area shop and restaurant owners are abiding by Covid requirements while still providing a positive and safe experience for the vacationer. We have increased our cabin disinfection procedures and hope you’ll consider joining us soon to experience the beautiful scenery of this picturesque area for yourselves.

Now on to our cabin.

The Green, Green Grassof Home is a newly renovated rustic cabin that is similar to many cabins, cottages and homes in rural western NY. Its exterior siding is known as Board and Batten. Board and Batten is a type of exterior siding or interior paneling that has alternating wide boards and narrow wooden strips, called battens. The boards are usually (but not always) 1 foot wide. The boards may be placed horizontally or vertically.

What's unique about our Board and Batten is that the lumber is Rough Cut and comes from a local Amish saw mill and not from a big box store. You'll see this type of exterior siding all throughout NY and the northeast on homes and barns.

The interior of the cabin has new flooring throughout, either bamboo or vinyl. New lighting and a new kitchen counter top, along with new internal and external paint and a fresh new front and back deck for your sitting pleasure.

The cabin has two bedrooms (sleeps 2 each) and also a pull out couch which can sleep up to two (2) additional adults.

Once you step inside the cabin you'll see and feel Country. There's pine ceilings and a custom made island for sitting around and discussing the days events or for just sipping coffee first thing in the morning. The island is adorned with drift wood and wooden limbs from our property behind the cabin, which gives the cabin a very rustic, and comfortable feeling of relaxation. This replaces a traditional kitchen table and chairs in the cabin.

The Green, Green Grass of Home is actually the last home on Emerson Road and just beyond it, the road becomes Seasonal. What seasonal means is that from November 1st to April 1st of each year, the road beyond our cabin is not maintained by the township but the portion of the road to our cabin is maintained year round. Therefore, you'll find the location very peaceful, quite and relaxing.

Our cabins are accessible by all vehicles, not just trucks or SUV's. The road is gravel and can have ruts and holes in it during the spring and fall rainy season but anyone driving with normal care will not have an issue traveling to the cabin. It’s approximately 2 miles off the main road.

At night, feel free to sit around the fire ring and stare up at the millions of stars above you after hiking many of the local trails to see the beauty of our Finger Lakes region.

The location is very quite and private. If hear a noise, it’s probably one of a local farmers' tractor as they work on one of the many area fields getting them ready for the spring planting or the fall harvest.

Growing up on a farm literally just down the road with my parents, four sisters and brother, the only vacation our family ever went on was during winter recess from school. My grandparents were Snow Birds and they traveled to Florida every winter, so during the school break, my parents would load up the Kingswood Station Wagon and we'd head off to FL counting telephone poles and looking at the different license plates along the way, trying to find a license plate from each state.

It was a long 20 hour car ride with complaining kids who wanted to stop at Reptile World or at South of the Border, so it was no wonder that on our way home from visiting my grandparents, as soon as we made it back in to NY my mom would start singing the song The Green, Green Grass of Home. This country song originally was made popular by Porter Wagoner in 1965, when it reached No. 4 on the country charts. That same year, it was also sung by Bobby Bare and by Jerry Lee Lewis, who included it in his album Country Songs for City Folks (later re-issued as All Country). Next, Tom Jones learned the song from Lewis' version, and in 1966, he had a worldwide No. 1 hit with it.

Whenever we heard our mother start to sing that song, we knew we'd be home in an hour and whatever ruckus we were causing would stop and we'd look out the window quietly reflecting on the past several days and just waiting to get home to sleep in our own beds.

Nice secluded cabin. Clean and well stocked. Only complaint is the birds and bees both had homes on the back porch under the grill and they did not enjoy us visiting! Grill is in needs some fixing (ignitor and plates), but it was doable! Otherwise, everything was great and as described.

Beautiful secluded cabin in a very quiet area. Loved listening to the frogs at night and birds in the mornng. Very convenient to have free Laundry on site. Avoid Bayhill road if possible especially if you have a small vehicle. Come in from the west side as per owners directions.

Mattress was soft. Grass was very long and therefore our feet got soaked after the rain. Spacious cabin. The kitchen and bathroom were highlights. Overall we were pleased.

The ad said the pullout bed was queen....it was a full and the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on, or at least tried to sleep on. You could feel every spring and piece of metal. It did have all the dishes needed to cook. Don’t drive anything smaller then an SUV because the road it’s on is crap, it actually killed my car and I had to have it towed away and to end my stay a day early. Plus if you don’t drink, there is nothing to do. It’s all winery’s and dollar stores in the area. The yard had garbage and junk scattered around it and the edge of the woods. (Which ALL the woods are posted so there isn’t even a quick woods hike). If I was going to stay there with the intent of reading or writing it’s perfect, but a mom with older kids, not much to do. But the cabin is really cute on the inside.

We had a wonderful baby moon at the house. Everything was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. We spent a lot of time relaxing at the house, but also drove to a few nearby parks and lakes. We were able to have some socially distanced fun! Also loved how we were centrally located. We have ATT for cell service and were able to get 4G at the road outside the house and LTE just a short walk/drive up the road. No cell service didn’t bother us, but I know it’s important for some. If you’re looking for a quiet place to get away, look no further!

Cabin would have been cozy without the rodent problem. I understand country living, but when you lay in bed and listen to something in the wall chewing, that is not what i was expecting!Gary offered to have maintenance and cleaners stop by. I had already cleaned up the kitchen floor, and stuffed two Brillo pads in the hole at the back door.Cabin was ok. Location was nice and remote.Gary offered an extra night for compensation, but not with the critters!! Hope he can remedy the problem!

Perfect price for an amazing private cabin getaway. Close enough to lakes and things to do but far enough away for the quiet relation we wanted. Would definitely stay again if we return! Enjoyed. Nice fire at night. Never even turned the tv on. Only used the WiFi to plan our day but worked well. Nice cozy relaxing weekend!

We have stayed at this cabin a couple of times (as well as some of their others on Emerson Road) and always find it clean, comfortable, quiet and relaxing. The living room area with the TV is great to relax and the kitchen has all the tools you need to cook a meal.

Not sure I was made aware upon booking that the unit was 3 miles of dirt road away from pavement. Rental car companies frown on 'off-roading', but so far no additional expense.Upon arrival unit was very hot and it took hours to get the temp down because it was very hot outside - 90. The AC unit tried hard; I finally discovered, twice, that the exhaust hose for the AC unit was disconnected so all heat drawn from area was put right back in to the room. I adjusted the housing so this would not happen again and the temps got better. Room AC in one bedroom really helped but the other bedroom is tough to get down to sleeping temp.Unit served our needs. Wifi and TV are great. Location very good to visit Keuka lake area (aside from a lot of dirt roads).Layers of dead bugs on bottom/inside of screens need to be cleaned up and more windows need screens to promote cooldown at night. Unit needs small portable tables to use as end tables with big chairs, and tall lamps to facilitate reading. All non-ceiling lamps are too low and too dim. Globe lighting on ceiling OK for general lighting but a nightmare for reading and TV watching. There is no dining table, but the 'bar' seating works ok.Good info on the general area. If you are into wine tasting you can go crazy in the finger lakes.Really appreciated the access, on my own accounts of course, to Netflix, Huly, Apple and Disney. In summary, if we ever repeated we would seek other lodging BUT this was OK for the price

Overall it was a very nice place. It was very quiet and in the country! The owners are very responsive which is always a plus. The reason I rated this a three are very minor things we noticed that doesn't fit with our normal life. The master bed was super hard leaving us in pain in our back after 1 night. The TV in the same bedroom did not work. It only has streaming available and I assume it didn't work bc we don't have any streaming services. The remote also didn't operate the TV consistently. It worked to turn on but wouldn't turn off. I'm not sure if that was me or the remote itself. The water temperature in the shower was also not very hot but the sink water was scorching (more like how I like my shower). As I said in the beginning, it was overall a nice place and for someone that doesn't care about the minor things, by all means, you should go for it! Thanks for having us!

My wife and I stayed at this location for our anniversary weekend getaway and it was amazing. Gary and Dawn do a great job with their properties as we have previously stayed at the Fox in the Hen house, which is great as well. The Green green grass of home was amazing. Very private. Very warm and cozy. Staying in the wintertime the road is seasonal as listed which was not an issue as we have a 4 wheel drive SUV but plan accordingly if you do not. This location is nice and quiet and exactly as listed. Gary and Dawn really do an excellent job with their properties. It's a short drive to a lot of towns with great antique shops and restaurants which is nice. We look forward to staying again maybe during the summer.

A few of my co-workers and I visited Branchport for a ladies' getaway. The cabin was great! It was clean and cozy. During the day, we visited wineries, shops, farmers markets and restaurants in Branchport, Naples, and Hammondsport. Keuka Lake is gorgeous, and we took plenty of pictures. In the evening, we cooked and ate tasty food, played games, watched movies and had lots of laughs. We did leave earlier than expected, because the remnants of Hurricane Debbie were hitting the area, and we were nervous about getting back to the main roads with all of the rain, tree limbs, etc. Overall, we had a great experience though.
