Our driveway is at steep incline you may park in the space at the bottom of the driveway if preferred. Don't forget to use your parking brake! An approximate $47 guest/ amenity fee is charged per car at the Pine Mountain Lake guest entrance. This pass is good for 7 days.
We stayed primarily to visit Yosemite and it worked out well. Town of Groveland and it's restaurants and bars were a pleasant surprise. Very comfortable beds and nice hot showers were very much appreciated after long hikes in the Park.
Not only are the owners easy to get a hold of, but this home is roomy enough for a family of 8 and has full access to the lake when you're not visiting Yosemite National Park. The National park is only a 30 minute drive to the entrance from this location, and the park and lake WERE STUNNING this year from all the record snow fall! We'll be going again next year! The kitchen and dining is just perfect for cooking breakfasts and dinners... we love this house. We couldn't be happier, and you just need to be aware of the high sloping driveway. It's perfect if you have 4 wheel drive and if you don't, there's parking at the bottom! Deer all over the place, wild turkeys, tons of birds for you bird watchers!
Great location and cabin was excellent with plenty of space and well equipped throughout. Steep driveway leading up to door but parking bay at bottom if this worries you.
Areas, streets, lake, etc etc
We had a great stay. The cabin has a nice open feel to it that we really enjoyed. Believe the reviews when they say the driveway is intense., especially if there’s ice or snow. Luckily for us the weather was perfect. The beds were mostly comfortable. Ours was just fine, but my dad complained a little. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner, so we really utilized the kitchen. Its stocked fairly well, we were able to do a lot, but a few things were lacking. Sharper knives and a working can-opener would be at the top of my list. The trash can container at the bottom of the hill could use some attention. It was busted and I think a bear probably got in there because when we arrived, trash was everywhere. Overall though our needs were met, the host was friendly and quick to respond. I would stay again.
Really great for me and my friends.
This property was the perfect jumping off point for Yosemite. Grove land is a cute little town with any amenity you might need, including a grocery store. The house was clean and had everything we needed, including streaming!
Everything was as advertised. Cabin was super clean, plenty of towels provided, easy access to the house, kitchen essentials were available. I highly recommend it!
This was a lovely property. It was spacious, clean and lots of wildlife. We loved the fact that there was Keurig coffee and creamer ready for us in the morning. A couple suggestions: The door is really hard to open, even with the code the deadbolt sticks. Dishwasher was full of clean dishes. It would be nice to have name on the lake entry the day of arrival. We knew we couldn’t check in until four but we planned on going to the lake. It was easily resolved with a call to the owner. Lastly there are lots of birds pecking every morning at the back window. Maybe hang some of the silver reflectors there as well. All that being said we would definitely come back those are just minor suggestions!
Our family loved the house with plenty of room to spread out and relax after long days in Yosemite. The location and amenities were lovely. We enjoyed swimming at the lake and watching the wildlife.
A good place from which to explore Yosemite
Our host laid out such good instructions from the entry fee to the resort home, to the details on what to do when you run out of paper towels. The only down side was that we didn't have enough propane in our BBQ and the extra one was empty. We let her know and she thanked us. That was the only 'negative' thing - very minor. The house was perfect for our family, and having the full kitchen with use of the dishware/cookware was an automatic plus. I would rent again from this homeowner in a heart beat!
Clean property with comfortable beds and AC. Located in a nice resort property that is gated. Located toward the back of the property boundaries in quiet neighborhood. Fun watching the deer in yard. Comfortable with basic amenities.
Overall, we were very pleased. We've stayed at dozens of owner-hosted places and usually have some pros and cons to list, but any negatives for the place itself would be petty. We did have no power from 8am to 5pm one day, but that was for scheduled work, and I assume a fluke. We also lost power for about 2-3 hours the following afternoon - not sure how often that might happen. Beware about the $42/car charge, which was a little annoying (even our sons who only came for a couple of days during the week had to pay it) and we had a little trouble getting through security, though the owner was easy to get in touch with and resolved it fairly quickly. Note that whatever google maps tells you, it will take an extra 10 minutes to drive the maze of roads between the security entrance and the house. The house itself was very comfortable and well-equipped and the outdoor areas were very enjoyable. Access to Yosemite was pretty convenient (about 30 minutes to the big oak flat entrance), but a lot more after that depending on where you are going. It was also nice to be centrally located between Tioga Rd, Hetch Hetchy and the Yosemite Valley.
Everything here was great. House was lovely and clean. Only complaint would be the hole in the driveway. Otherwise a great house.
