Walhonding, Ohio
This lovely cabin is a nature paradise located in Central Ohio along US Route 36, halfway between Coshocton and Mount Vernon. It sits on 160 acres consisting of rolling fields, cropland, warm and cool season grasses, 8 ponds, woods, ravines, creeks, wildlife and more! This cabin offers a hot tub, floating dock, canoes, firepit (wood furnished), indoor fireplace and rustic barn for rainy days. Electric golf carts are available upon request at $45 per day to use around the property. We are sorry, but absolutely no hunting or fishing is allowed on premises.
Well-appointed cabin that’s remote, but not off-grid. We were able to ring in the New Year with peace and quiet as well as Netflix. Large kitchen was stocked with supplies- just bring your own ingredients and feed a family with ease. Family Dollar is up the road if you forget any essentials. Hot tub is enclosed with enough climate control options to enjoy year-round. Hosts were readily accessible by text and gave excellent guidance to get us to the destination.
It was the perfect getaway forn our family of 4 which includes our 2 adult children and 2 furbabies. We were blessed with unseasonably warm weather and were able to enjoy the beautiful property and decks. We will have to return for a longer stay in the spring!
The cabin is a great layout for our group of 5, with a large open gathering area. Very clean and well kept, stocked with everything you would need.
We visited in mid October when the leaves were stunning. It's a gorgeous property. Dean was very attentive with any questions or needs we had. Would definitely return!
We were lucky to find this property for our family of four (2 parents and 2 college-aged students) to stay for Family Weekend at Kenyon. Those of you looking for a place to stay know how hard it can be to find a place. The location is just under 20 minutes from Kenyon - just down 229. It is a very easy ride on country roads - you just have to keep an eye out for deer, especially during the fall. There is a Dollar Store that carries a lot of groceries and a Friendly food store that is open during the day that has baked items, a deli, fruit, veggies, and other things. These are about 5 minutes from the cabin. We cooked our breakfasts and one dinner during our 3-night stay. The cabin is well equipped as are the bathrooms. The bedding is comfortable and there is a Roku for the TV. The cabin is located on 140 acres with several ponds, access to golf carts for an additional minimal charge, and a hot tub. The owners of the cabin met us for check-in to show us some things and were available if we needed them. The cabin is well-maintained and clean. There is a full bathroom and bedroom on the main floor. Upstairs there is a large loft with a full bathroom. There are two queen beds on both sides of the bathroom and a sitting area - it is very cozy. There are several steps to get up to the loft area. For families with Kenyon students, this may be just the place for you and your student to reconnect, restore, and rejuvenate.
We had a great time at the cabin! Only downfall was not being allowed to fish.
If you get a chance to experience this oasis in Amish Country, go for it! The hosts are above & beyond! The cabin is comfortable & charming with everything you need, and the acreage & ponds provide plenty of natural beauty & places to explore. We had the bonus of the harvest moon and never got tired of the endless views! Our dog Yogi had the time of his life?♥️
Wow. Beautiful and unique property. Words cannot express. Tons of space to explore. My two teen boys, 16, who are usually glued to their video games, were out swimming, canoeing, golf carting, climbing down the ravine, exploring caverns, building campfires-it was AWESOME! The cabin was also wonderful and was the perfect place to wind down from an adventurous day. The hot tub was great, especially because it is in it's own, separate little building. The location is perfect, too, because it's within driving distance to many little Amish towns as well as Mt Vernon, and Mohican. Although, if you didn't want to travel at all, the grounds of the property itself would keep you plenty busy with things to do. Dean and Kari were wonderful, accommodating and gracious hosts. We had a fantastic time and will be coming back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
