Stayed Jun 27, 2025Great rustic cabin in a secluded location. You really feel a part of the mountains. The cabin and its layout are great for family and friends. Even our large lap dog was made at home with the use of a large doggie door. We loved the large porch to sit and admire the surroundings while visiting.

No cell phone service No internet 3 Adults… 1 Double bed… second bed upstairs but upstairs was blocked off and no sheets, pillows, blanket anywhere in house… guess we were supposed to sleep on the floor! Stayed Aug 20, 2020Fine for a short disconnected vacation. Pros: -Private, secluded, beautiful area and views from the patio - great place to relax -Lots of wildlife in the area -Patio had plenty of comfy furniture to put your feet up and enjoy the outdoors (take bug spray for evenings) -Lots of space and open floorplan - plus the furnishings complement the cabin in the woods feel - leather sofas were uber comfy -Comfy bed -Dog friendly with dog door and fenced area -Friendly onsite hosts -Plenty of movies and board games Cons: -This is not a private place. The upstairs, where the host stays, is connected by a staircase but no door separates the two areas. So, we could hear and see them if they passed the stairs at the same time we did. Additionally, the host used the down stairs laundry room several times a day, which is connected to the kitchen and only has a thin curtain separating the areas / no door. We were expecting the living areas to be a significantly more private get-a-way. Moreover, it's Aug 2020 and COVID-19 is still spreading and I was counting on the promised CDC cleaning procedures, which would include at least 1 day without anyone living there; however, it appears the hosts were not included in the promised isolation. -Dirty - many items and counter tops were dusty or sticky, so much so, we felt it necessary to clean the dishes, glasses, and counter tops -No AC and the bedroom has no outdoor facing windows so we could not cool it down easily -Although it might be a temporary problem, the intended guest Internet (DSL) did not work while we were there. Thus, if you plan to work, you should contact the host to check on the current Internet performance. Fortunately, the hosts graciously shared their alternative Internet connection (via satellite), which at least enabled us to browse web pages and check email. - No cell service for ATT - The TV is 3:4 standard definition, if you plan to play video games or watch saved movies you should have an HDMI-RCA converter. Make sure you hike Opal Lake (very close). It provides many beautiful views and a nice workout with some uphill trails.

Stayed Jul 3, 2020This was a pleasant, secluded hideaway on the mountain side with dense forest and nearby hiking trails, scenic water falls and numerous outdoor activities. The cabin itself was not as advertised in the website. The property managers reside in the main floor of the cabin and when we arrived they were absent except for their dog, which was old and crippled. The door was unlocked and we were told (via email) by the managers that the dog would be there and that we could just move in when we arrived; and that they would return later in the day. With our occupancy the managers moved to second floor. A stairway beside the dining table led the the second floor; and, the managers told us they would not need to use it while we were there as they had access to the 2nd floor from the outside rear of the cabin. Their household supplies and some clothing were where they normally kept them on the main floor; but they had made room in the cabinets and refrigerator for our food supplies that we brought with us. The main floor was spacious with a dining table and chairs that seated 8, a large den area, and a bedroom with an adjoining small bathroom, the only one on the main floor. Outside the cabin was a fenced dog kennel area, home to 19 sled dogs all chained to their individual dog houses.

Stayed Dec 20, 2019First of all! You would think staying at the home of a dog musher a loud, furry experience.... quite the opposite! The home is very cozy, warm, clean and well appropriated. Joy, the Host and leader of the pack, has a happy pack of true Alaskan Huskies who are well kept and quiet. We were constantly entertained by dogs and were well instructed by Joy when we wanted to join in and help with the huskies. My kids are 12 and 9 and we all enjoyed helping out with the dogs. Sometimes we preferred to rest, ski, sled or explore the area and Joy is so organized operates so smoothly that we didn’t even know they were there. Joy and Michael have a perfect hosts and they have the best sled collection and we had the BEST TIME SLEDDING!! the ski hill and Pagosa Springs are easy drives from the house. We were there for a big winter snow and Michael helped us learn to put on chains like a pro. The quiet of the home is wonderful, the area is VERY PICTURESQUE AND DREAMY. Do not miss this AMAZING vacation spot!

Stayed Jul 8, 2017This is such a great place to stay. I am very late with this well deserved review. This place is Awesome and a rustic treasure set in a picture perfect place. The Mountain View’s are spatacular. The owner is so sweet!!! The place is warm and cozy with so many cabin decorations. The house was stocked with all the right essentials. We stayed for 10 days and we were very sad to leave. My husband and our Jack Russell enjoyed our stay. We took Daily walks and saw deer almost every time. Easy trips into town where you travel down the beautiful dirt road. You truly feel tucked away from everything. The last day there we even saw a brown bear. If you are looking for a great peaceful place tucked away but still able to get into town. This is a fantastic place. Oh and there is a creek near by and a great hiking trail to a peaceful lake. I am hoping to stay here from years to come.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Snowbird Lodge is a peaceful getaway nestled in the Colorado back-country. The Blanco Basin is as pretty as it gets. Nearby trails into the South San Juan Wilderness are plentiful and provide an amazing amount of country for hikers, photographers, etc. The cabin has everything you need and is in a very remote yet accessible area only 20 minutes to the beautiful little town of Pagosa Springs.
