Welcome to A Ridge Retreat!
A Ridge Retreat is a 4BR/2.5BA mountain home with sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Experience incredible panoramic views from the warmth of the hot tub or the comfort of the ample seating around the wrap-around covered porch. Walk down to the private wooden swing on a clear night and take in an uninterrupted sky full of stars!
*Winter Weather Advisory: Access is via a 1/4 mile shared gravel driveway. The approach is steep. It is necessary to have 4-wheel drive AND tire chains for ice to navigate the driveway during winter weather. Vehicles must not be left on the driveway as this endangers the neighbors.
Take a step inside and meet the perfect combination of classic elegance and rustic charm. The main living room has a cozy stone fireplace and a large flat-screen TV. Adjacent, you will find the open dining room and kitchen, updated with stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite countertops.
The king master suite, also on the main level, invites you in with its private fireplace and bathroom. There is private access to the back porch from this bedroom, right by the hot tub. Another bedroom with a twin-over-twin bunk bed is also on the main level with a shared bathroom.
Come prepared for a little friendly competition as you enter the game room on the lower level. Enjoy a game of billiards, bring the heat during a round of foosball, or relax by the wet bar - there is something for everyone! Two king bedrooms share a full bathroom on this lower level.
This private retreat provides you a taste of the tranquility the High Country offers. However, if you enjoy exploring, this home is only a 35-minute drive to adventures like Watauga Lake, Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park, Beech Mountain Ski Resort, and much more. Take a stroll through downtown Boone, less than 30 minutes away, and enjoy fantastic dining, unique shopping, and local events.

Very clean and comfortable house. View was amazing. Long and steep drive up dirt road to get to house and long drive to restaurants and stores. Property was amazing, had hot tub which was great to sit in and enjoy view. Would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful home. Plenty of room for the kiddos, we’ll maintained property and excellent communication from management about how to prepare and what to expect. Highly recommend!
I can see the why tje warni g about 4 wheel dr in winter is a must. Even in the summer its long drive up a sometimes steep gravel road and driveway. The property is very secluded and only one other cabin can be swen close by when on the deck. Otherwise you feel completely alone. The decor is great, inside and out. It is definately well maintained. All of the extras worked as they should. Will be going back
Had a wonderful time at our stay. Cozy aesthetic, a wonderful amount of space, and had a great view that we enjoyed from the hot tub. Had very reasonable distance to everything around but still felt very private.
It was a very nice and quiet place too stay. Could have been cleaner. Lights on entrance needs to be fixed so you can see the driveway entrance at night.... Especially in the fog.
We are return customers to this property!
We had a blast and had fun navigating the drive in our minivan. Thankfully it was dry!! Beautiful place.
The road to get to the cabin is treacherous. A snow storm was predicted for the day of our arrival. We rushed our plans to get there on time. We were then snowed in. The house did not have adequate materials (snow shovels, salt, flashlights) to help us dig our way out. Neighbors of the rental told us that other renters have slid off the road and gotten stuck in the deep ditch quite frequently and have then had to be towed out. All of the other houses had a spot to park at the bottom of the steep treacherous hill, all but us, which is what caused us to be stranded. We ended up shoveling the cabin's long driveway by ourselves with a garden shovel. Carolina Cabins never called to check on us even though they knew we were stranded at the cabin. On the third day there was a thaw so we took our chances to try and get down the hill as the weather was forecasted to freeze overnight and we would not be able to check-out at the required time. We called Carolina Cabin Rentals who said we would still be charged for the extra night even though we were leaving to help the agency and not be there past our check out time. It would have been nice if Carolina Cabins would have been more responsive and cared about our safety in some small way! I will DEFINITELY not rent from this company again. You should be able to get to your rental safely. (I own a V8 engine 4-wheel drive vehicle and grew up in New England. I am not a snow wimp. I do know however when it is not safe to be on an icy road.
My friends and I always spend every MLK weekend at a cabin in the mountains and they said this one was their favorite. Great house with a great view!
This cabin was great! The communication was always quick and clear. The only thing I would advise is to let guests know that one of the rooms is very tight in comparison to the rest and to emphasize bringing a car that will not get stuck in ice and snow.
