Stayed Nov 26, 2025We traveled as a couple (no kids) with 2 dogs - and this cabin was exactly what we were looking for! Secluded, peaceful, perfect yard for the pups, awesome nearby hiking, and the fireplace/hot tub were so cozy. Very kind and gracious host, would book again!

Stayed Nov 7, 2025Cabin is secluded and nice. Nice outside fire pit area. ***Be advised cabin water has a STRONG Sulfer smell to it, makes it tough to shower. Also, cabin rate is listed for 4 guests, so you will be charged EXTRA per guest to the listed 6 person limit (extra charge to approx a night stay at a hotel).***I rented this back weeks prior to coming up, and put in my wife and I and my 3 of my 4 children (one wasn't available to come at the time). The amount that I agreed to was equivalent to high end VRBO properties that I've stayed in, so I was fine with the initial quote. The day of checking in, the owner sent a list to include ensuring everyone in the party is listed on the agreement and that they are there when you check in (Cameras are on AND they will go back and check them). I went back in to VRBO to Modify my agreement and add my additional child, but the VRBO website will NOT allow you to modify within 24 hours (Error code message it gave me). So I didn't think much of it given the website wouldn't allow modification and because we were within the limits of the cabin's occupancy limit of six guests. However, a week after we left, the Owner went back in and checked the tapes and contacted me directly and worked with VRBO to get my rate updated, increasing my total by twenty-five percent from the originally agreed upon value. Cabin is nice, but could have rented four rooms/night at the Courtyard Marriot in Blacksburg for the rate I got.

Stayed Jul 27, 2025First, let's talk about the wonderful:I went to Mountain Creek Lodge for the specific purpose of seeking isolation, and I got exactly that and more. The setting in the mountains and meadows is breathtaking. The internet connection was strong. Be warned: I'm not all that tech savvy, but from what I could tell, your TV viewing is Roku dependent, and therefore very limited unless you subscribe to streaming services.I chose to sleep in the second floor bedroom and found it very comfortable once it cooled down. (See below.)The most wonderful surprise was the pair of donkeys (maybe mules) at the edge of the driveway. I named them Robin and Pat because I wasn't sure how they identified, but they're very curious and beyond adorable. Now for the could-be-better. (To be clear, I'd come back in a heartbeat.) In no particular order:1. The Mountain Creek Lodge is clearly designed for the cooler months. I was there in the heat of July. The first floor bedroom that I would have preferred never got cool enough to sleep in. Fans would be nice.2. The burners on the stove are not level and the pans are not flat.3. I caution elderly or handicapped guests to be careful. The stairs here are very steep and the floors are not level.I can't wait to come back to Mountain Creek Lodge when the nights are cold and I can light the firepit.

Stayed Jun 23, 2025We really enjoyed our stay. Had everything you needed and also little things like snacks, stocked coffee bar. Also enjoyed the fact that we could have our dogs, the big yard was great for them to run and play. Misty the cabin owner was also very nice and a joy to talk to. If we are ever in that area again we will definitely rent this cabin again. Oh, and the donkeys across the driveway were a joy also.

Stayed Jun 15, 2025My son had an event at Radford and I had a wirk meeting at Tech - so I decided to stay local for the week rather than travel back and forth to Richmond. This was the perfect place! As pictured and described - with everything working properlyBesides peace and quiet, I got to know the young deer that frequently crossed the road or stood beside the road in the field. My little doggie and I fed the donkeys some fruit - which also helped the overall feel of enjoying the country. Although the roads are windy (not a problem for me as I myself live off rural, windy roads), it was a fairly short drive to get to any of the cities: Christenbug, Radford - with Roanoke being a bit further. The hosts were great - clearly available as needed but not bugging me as some hosts do by frequently messaging just to check in Definitely recommend staying here if you're looking to stay in this region!

Stayed Aug 19, 2024The host thought of every little detail to make your stay a breeze, down to wrapped toothbrushes! The fridge was stocked with juices, water and even milk. Coffee station with cereal and snacks. The bedrooms were comfortable and the home was very clean and so nicely appointed. Only minor want for our family would be a dishwasher. Other than that a wonderful place for any family to stay and recharge.

Stayed Aug 17, 2024It was a terrific stay. The place is very private. Everything is very clean and comfortable. The check in was easy. The host was very responsive. The coffee and snack bar in the cabin was delightful and appreciated. The place is very isolated - 2 miles down a gravel road. There is minimal to no cell service. Keep this in mind and print out the door codes or write them down - you may not be able to access email or messages from your phone when you get there.

Stayed Jun 17, 2024After a struggling morning and afternoon with rental car we finally got to our little cabin in the woods. When I say what a quiet relaxing environment this cabin offered I'm not exaggerating. We drank our coffee on the porch in the mornings and talked with the donkeys. I named them Fred and Ethel lol. We watched deer , bunnies, birds and chipmunks. We cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner outside and enjoyed a breeze with the sunset. We would relax in the hot tub and listen to the frogs . We would watch Little House on the Prairie and eat our Eskimo Pie and then out like a light. We will be back because in all honesty didn't want to leave. Thanks to our host Misty. You have a wonderful place and thanks for sharing it with us.

Stayed May 29, 2024I was looking for a place to getaway for a couple of days and disconnect from all of my distractions, and this cabin offered everything that I was looking for in my get away. The location is great, not too close but not too far from Blacksburg and convenient to good hiking trails in the area.
