With majestic mountains, pine-filled forests, and sparkling lakes, Ruidoso is a nature-lover’s delight. When you stay at Mockingbird Cabin, nature’s glory is right outside your door, and the home’s wide decks allow you to revel in it whenever you please. At the same time, the three-bedroom house is just minutes from such indoor attractions as the galleries of Sudderth Drive, the Inn of the Mountain Gods casino, and the Hubbard Museum of the American West.

Looking outover dense Ponderosa pines toward the Sierra Blanca, Mockingbird Cabin’s decks span the width of the home. Furnished with well-cushioned seating, tables to rest drinks, and a glider the kids (and adults) will love, the main deck includes an overhang to provide welcome shade during sultry summer days. You will be able to enjoy the hot tub while you're soaking in the sunshine with the family. You can cook outdoors on the gas grill and dine alfresco at the backyard’s patio table. Chirping hummingbirds will provide the perfect background music while you enjoy time with your loved ones.

The interior of Mockingbird Cabin is equally inviting. The wood-planked sloped ceiling and comfortable leather sofas make the living area of the great room an ideal place to kick back after a day of hiking, skiing, or horseback riding. Watch a movie on the flat-screen TV with cable, surf the web via the free WiFi, sprawl out on the rug with the kids for a game of Uno: In other words, make yourself right at home.

The great room’s dining area is furnished with rustic charm, with seating at the dining table as well as the adjacent breakfast bar. On the other side of the breakfast bar is Mockingbird Cabin’s large, well-equipped kitchen. Even if you eat your main meals out at the numerous nearby restaurants, it’s still great having a refrigerator to store milk and wine, a blender for mixing up smoothies or daiquiris, and a coffeemaker for brewing a cup of joe anytime you want.

The en-suite primary bedroom is on the same floor as the great room; two additional bedrooms and the second bathroom are upstairs. All three bedrooms include a king-size bed, making Mockingbird Cabin as well suited for three couples as it is for a family. An air mattress offers additional sleeping accommodations.

When you arrive, you’ll find the beds beautifully made up, plenty of clean towels for both bathrooms, and extra bedding ready and waiting. You can treat yourself to a nap or a bath as soon as you arrive. What’s more, you can pack light: Mockingbird Cabin has its own full-size washer and dryer.

As you relax on the deck, watching eagles soar over the mountains or deer scamper across the yard, you can easily forget that Mockingbird Cabin is conveniently close to the area’s numerous attractions. Grindstone Lake and Trail System, where you can fish, canoe, kayak, hike, ride mountain bikes, and play disc golf, is less than 15 minutes away. Also nearby are Two Rivers Park, the galleries and shops of downtown Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs horse track, several golf courses, and two casinos. In less than an hour you can drive to Ski Apache, where in addition to skiing you can view the mountains from a gondola or while zip lining. (Because this is snow and mountain country, vehicles with four-wheel drive are strongly recommended in winter.)

No matter how you spend your days, one thing is certain: You’ll love returning to the comfort and serenity of Mockingbird Cabin. Book your stay today, before someone else beats you to it! Maximum Vehicles 3.

Please Note: A pet fee of $75 applies per pet.

Very cozy cabin, beds were comfy, hot tub was a plus. Plenty of patio space and close to everywhere we wanted to go…….in town, restaurants, Walmart.

This was an adorable and comfortable cabin that clearly has had a lot of love and care put into it by the family. It is not the most modern or luxurious if that is what you are looking for, however it is charming and we found the Knick knacks and decorations to be part of the appeal. We realized that years of thought and love went into their acquisition, and it was easy to see how this was a meaningful space for the family that owns it.We also loved the decks and multiple seating areas. The cabin was quiet, private, and clean. The management company was also very responsive when we had an issue with the lock on the hot tub and sent someone out to help us with it right away. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning soon!

The house is nice but somewhat dated. It is perfect for pet owners the fence and front deck both are fabulous for the dogs. The communication with the company that does the booking or management does not communicate very well. The furniture inside the house and on the front deck is very comfortable. However the neighbors behind the house have basically a junkyard in the back which leaves the backyard with not a great view and the fence is broken in an area.

A bit disappointed when seeing the backyard. The fence was falling down and the other side of the fence was a big eyesore. That fence needs to be replaced and needs to be 2ft higher. The house was nice, but we had to sleep upstairs as the bed downstairs was horrible. The tvs only worked with your own steaming, no cable or local stations. We were able to see a nice sunset from the balcony and overall did have a nice time. Elk walking down the street one morning.

The house is old and you can smell the musty odor as soon as you walk up to the door. Hallway fixture is broken, the stove top burners falling out and cobwebs in the house. Zero amenities ( no body wash, shampoo etc). Backyard wood fence is falling over and there is a junk yard behind the house. The master bed downstairs was like sleeping on a concrete slab!! It was so uninviting and uncomfortable that we literally stayed the first night and found a much more comfortable and inviting rental that was not short on amenities and attention to details when hosting out of town guest.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The space was very cabin-esque and unpretentious. Felt a bit like home. We loved having a big fenced in backyard that our pup could explore and enjoyed the hot tub every night! The only thing that could improve is the beds. They were all 3 pretty uncomfortable.

My family and I stayed here over Christmas and really enjoyed it. Good central location. We felt right at home with cute snowmen and wooden bear decor. It had nice sized bedrooms with comfy beds and plenty of extra blankets and pillows. There are really beautiful views of the Sierra Blanca mountain range from the upper balcony. The space has a very large fenced in yard with jacuzzi, great for the dogs. Two small complaints I have are we had to buy a griddle because the stove top doesn't work great and we were charged a large pet fee (75 each) even though the listing doesn't mention one. Overall, I would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was great for what we needed. The only thing that was a little inconvenient was there was no bathroom amenities like shampoo/conditioner/bodywash. I used to travel with those things, but have stopped over the years because typically it is provided and it’s one less thing I have to pack. Not that big of deal - we just ran to Walgreens the next day, but had to make do until then. The hot tub was great after a long day at the baseball fields and it has several nice outdoor areas to hang out. All in all it was a great trip.
