Location, location, location. Those are the three best things about our historic family home. Meek's Mountaintop Retreat is located at Sunrise Point on top of Mount Nebo within Mt. Nebo State Park. As the name implies, we have spectacular views from the top of the mountain. We are at the end tip of the mountain, with one vista to the East - perfect for watching sunrises, and one to the South, a favorite take-off launch for hang gliders. Relax, enjoying the panoramic view of the AR RiverValley, or get physical on 36 miles of world class biking and hiking trails.

Mount Nebo is a flat-topped mountain, located between the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. It is perfect for weekend get-aways, and Spring, Summer or Fall vacations. Arkansas is 'the natural state', and Mount Nebo is one of its gems. You will see deer daily, hummingbirds in season, flora and fauna of all types. Our mountain is famous for its natural beauty, and lately, the new Monument trails and Enduro bike races. At our cabin, we are more known for R&R than athletic prowess, but don't let us stop you. Some of the trails start right outside our door.

Our two cabins on Sunrise Point are private residences. The Main Cabin is 120 years old, one of the first homes on Mt. Nebo. It has its foibles, but it has been dearly loved by our family for five generations, and we insist that it is comfortable and full of toys conducive to making memories. Our guests can enjoy the comfort of our home, but also can take advantage of the many facilities offered by the state park: outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball field, playgrounds, pavilion for large parties, classes and special events.

Our guests at our Main Cabin love our outdoor seating areas, comfy, premium bedding, full-kitchen and grilling amenities, bike station, herb garden, hammocks and chaise loungers. But they especially love our views!

We often provide carrots so you can feed the deer. Fireflies on summer nights bring sweet memories of childhood. We guarantee an assortment of wildlife - some you will like, and some you won't. Last summer we were visited by armadillos and raccoons. We normally see roadrunners and winged birds of all types in our yard - sometimes even human hang gliders if the wind is right. Other visitors show up unannounced: bunnies, foxes, wood chucks, possums, an occasional field mouse, and once - a skunk. Luckily, the skunk was just passing through - he did not stay.

While Nebo is a forest area, thus rural, nearby towns of Dardanelle (10 min) and Russellville (20 min) offer city services, restaurants and shopping, This tri-peaks region hosts three other state parks. The Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge (25 min) is great for bird watching and hiking; Lake Dardanelle and the AR River (10 min) offer fishing and fishing tournaments, boating, rafting, kayaking, lots of boat docks and a marina; Arkansas Tech University (25 min) sponsors courses, plays, concerts, football and other sports; Altus (55 min) is the heart of AR wine country. Hot Springs and the Oaklawn horse racing track are 90 minutes. The fabulous Crystal Bridges Museum is a 2 hour drive. So, our area provides action or no action, as you prefer.

Our Main Cabin is primarily a wood house, covered with siding, set on stone footing, surrounded by screened porches. It sits on a three-block yard, so we focus a lot of attention on our outdoor facilities: chaise loungers, sofas, lots of cushions, sun umbrellas, beach towels, benches, 2 dining tables (each seating 6-8), two smaller round tables (each seating 4), a firepit for s'mores, an herb garden, tree hammocks, both a charcoal and a gas grill, with all the BBQ supplies and serve ware you might need. We are often asked if we host weddings. Yes! We love weddings. Let's discuss your needs.

Inside, there is a den with game table, dining table that seats 6, TV (with Roku, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Peacock and other streaming services), free internet of course. In the back of the den are books, puzzles and games for kids of all ages. There are binoculars for bird watching and a telescope for star gazing.

Our full kitchen includes tons of pots and pans, dinnerware, serve ware for entertaining, etc. Owner likes to cook, so you should have all the equipment you might need - plus.

The Main Cabin guest bedroom is a large room containing one double bed and two twin beds. Thus, we list the house as having beds for four, but we also have floor mattresses, chaises, etc., plus camping equipment if you group / family is larger.

Note: A second cabin we call Razorback Ridge is our office/ art studio/ laundry area. RR is available on a limited basis if you need a second, private space (VRBO #3371391)

The North and East porches of the Main Cabin include an indoor hammock and assorted chairs, tables and loveseat. The back (West) porch entryway can be used for ice chests, covered bike storage, and we offer hose and faucet outside, plus disposable towels for hike and bike cleaning stations.

The bathroom contains a sink, toilet, fireplace, chair and old-fashioned metal shower. We provide abundant towels and toiletries.

For those who want to 'rough it' camping in our yard - experiencing nature part-way, but with the added comforts of kitchen and bathroom facilities - we provide tents, air mattresses, pumps, sleeping bags and camping linens. This option is often favored by teens.

We love Mount Nebo so much, and we love to share it with others! Grab a coffee and experience the glorious daybreaks at Sunrise Point. Or just sleep in. After all, via VRBO, Meek's Mountaintop Retreat can be YOUR secret mountaintop retreat!

It was a pleasure to see the inside of a house we’ve long admired and to feel the history of five generations of ownership. There is not a better view available on Mt Nebo, one of my favorite places on Earth. The house though 120 years old was warm and comfy once we got the heaters going. Deborah was quick to respond to questions and made us feel very welcome!

Thoroughly enjoyed staying in this 120 year old house. I even caught a clear sunrise and sunset the 2 days I was there, beautiful. The owner was onsite and it was a pleasure speaking to her when I checked in, but honestly did not see her after that (unless I needed something).

View is great but house is a dump. Think hoarder type of stuff everywhere. Shower is like bathing in a cow trough. Place is about to fall down in places and steps are really dangerous. Doors don’t work. Etc.

When I pulled up and saw the outside, screened in area, I was a little concerned.. the area could definitely use paint and new cushions, but the rest of the house is absolutely adorable and a great condition for being 120 years old! Even if it was adorable in that front area, I wouldn’t hang out there, because of the view from the back! It is stunning, everywhere you look! You can see a crystal clear view of the east and the south… I was on a journey fasting, praying, and worshipping the Lord and I can’t think of a better spot I could’ve gone close to home. The owner was staying next-door and was so helpful during a storm, making sure I had flashlights and anything else I may need…… But on the final day is where I was blown away by her kindness! She had gone to town and asked if I needed anything. She ended up driving 25 miles to get me a Tropical smoothie. Deborah deserves 1000 stars as a host! I didn’t use anything, but she had everything you could need (besides food) in the house.. literally everything (even carrots for the deer)! I absolutely recommend staying at Meek’s cabin! My time with The Lord was life-changing and the host is precious!

Some places don’t just host you—they whisper to you. This old house is one of those places. The host, kind and welcoming, speaks with the ease of an old friend—one who understands the value of a good story and a longer pause between sentences. She might not of realized I love to chat as much as she did!The house itself… well, it’s no stranger to time. Recent storms have not been kind, as the wind pushed in a few screens. While we were there, it faced some damage from a terrible storm as well. Trees down in the park, and towards town. No show stopper for us by any means! Yet this magnificent old house! The floors lean with age, the corners breathe a little dust, and the screen doors sag from storms past. But there's a beauty in that. A truth. It feels like stepping inside a memory you forgot you had. There’s no illusion of modern perfection here.Only the quiet honesty of a home that’s stood through years of laughter, loss, weather, and wear. The walls don’t pretend—they remember. If there’s anything I could wish for, it’s a larger bed. The full is small, and its springs sing their age when you sit... But that sound… that creak and cry…It transported me.Back to childhood nights at my grandmother’s house. Back to summer air through open windows and quilts that smelled like time.Back to a world slower, softer, and somehow more real. This house isn’t just a stay—it’s a story. And if you let it, it’ll wrap you in its worn arms and whisper, “You’ve been here before.”

Awesome Cabin full of fun. We love hanging out in the Den/Living Room when no out hiking. The sunrise is beautiful from the arm chair, or you can walk 100 feet to Sunrise Point. Trail head is right there if you like to hike. Place is incredibly comfortable given how old the cabin is. We plan on coming back regularly. It is perfect for what we were looking for. And great owner.

Rented the house to host a brunch for my daughter that was turning 18. The outside space was going to be perfect, however the wind and fog did not allow that to happen. But we moved it to the back porch area and it worked perfectly.

This is the perfect spot to view sunrises and sunsets from the top of Mount Nebo. The house is over 100 years old but it's quite interesting and relaxing. We enjoyed our stay.

We certainly enjoyed staying at the Meeks house on sunset point. There were breathtaking views of the morning sun. This was a unique experience, staying in this time capsule,(1905),where history and comfort come together. We would not hesitate to stay at the Meek’s house again.
