Stayed Jul 20, 2025The house, location, and views are stunning, but the property’s condition was disappointing. When a listing starts with “LUXURY” in all caps, certain expectations are set—few were met. Within minutes of arrival, we saw cobwebs in the great room ceiling, crumbs in and around the couch, and unswept floors. The main deck hadn’t been rinsed in months; the table was sticky with food, drink rings, and layers of pollen, requiring multiple scrubbings before use. The lower oven was caked with grease, nearly triggering the smoke alarm when preheating, and the “well-stocked kitchen” lacked basics like a pizza cutter. Showers were slow due to heavy limescale buildup on showerheads. Bedroom linens were fine but far from “luxurious.” No basic bathroom items were provided (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, blow dryer)—we relied on leftovers from prior guests. The game room had no shuffleboard “soap,” no darts, and a messy game closet. This property has incredible potential to match its description, but it needs attention and upkeep to deliver the luxury experience promised.

Stayed Jun 26, 2025Let me begin by saying this cabin is a stunner. It’s more of a mountain mansion than a humble cabin, a sprawling retreat with a theater that made us feel like we’d stepped into a private cinema perched among the pines. The views? Sublime. The rooms? Palatial. The potential? Limitless. But luxury is in the details, and those details left us wincing. The outdoor decks and furniture were blanketed in a thick layer of pollen, and a simple hose-down would have fixed this. The corners and eaves were dotted with cobwebs, just spooky enough to make you feel like you’d wandered into a German horror film if you forgot your broom. And the jacuzzi. Boy oh boy. One envisions sinking into bubbling bliss after a day of mountain adventures. Instead, we were greeted by an aroma best described as “musty basement meets questionable pond.” I suspect this tub hasn’t been properly drained, scrubbed, or chlorinated since… ever. For the price of this place, a fresh, clean soak shouldn’t be too much to ask.In summary, this is a gorgeous property that almost hits the mark for a top-dollar luxury stay, but the devil, as they say, is in the dirty, pollen-dusted, cobweb-draped, stale-smelling details. We loved the grand feel and cinematic nights, but this property regretfully revealed itself as Robin when we’d paid for Batman.

Stayed Nov 26, 2024I have stayed in many cabins over the years. Some have been really good, and some just photographed really well. This place was everything it claimed to be! It feels like it has just been built or remodeled because everything is very current. The listing was accurate, the place was perfect for our large family with six little ones who enjoyed the bunk room, the movie theater, the game room, and the jacuzzi! They even stocked it with humidifiers, which was very thoughtful considering the elevation and baby gates, which was helpful for the many stairs. The fenced in yard was ideal to keep our kids safe and let them enjoy outside playtime. The living room was cozy and included a beautiful view of the area down to the lake. The kitchen was perfectly well stocked for Thanksgiving. We loved that we could take the kids and walk into town for an ice cream. And it’s dog friendly! We had a great Thanksgiving and our little ones built a core memory for sure!

Stayed Sep 1, 2023We were a party of 13, three families, staying over a long Labor Day weekend. The house was so beautiful and full of thoughtful spaces, we never wanted to leave. The kids loved the game room, the parents loved the large living room with a view. We all loved the theater. We have stayed in Big Bear homes for over a decade and this is the nicest place yet.
