About this space
Just what everyone is looking for, a cozy home in the hills, private and quiet. It lives bigger than big, the deck alone will keep you amused, looking down over the world. There is a large "side" yard with a fire-pit for all of you who have missed real flames, now is your chance.
Easy access to WNC and Lake Glenville.
Everything is new, clean, and perfect for 2 couples, or a couple with children or even a weekend getaway for two.
Quiet and private setting, not a soul around but you.
Everything you'll need is on the main level, great room, kitchen, dining, bedroom and bath. Upstairs is a very private master suite, the whole floor. Huge (king) bed, private bath, walk-in closet all with plenty of light.
Very clean and well laid out cabin with modern amenities. Close proximity to both Franklin and Highlands. Beautiful drive in on Walnut Creek. 3200' of elevation at the cabin. Fantastic mountain breezes.
This cabin is as advertised. The cabin is very clean. We definitely enjoyed our stay. The driveway is steep but as long as your vehicle isn’t very low to the ground you should be fine.
Locust Flats was the perfect retreat we were looking for to escape the Florida heat and enjoy some peaceful, relaxation in the cool Smoky Mountains. Modern, new, super clean….this cabin was well-appointed and conveniently located between Highlands and Franklin. We enjoyed sitting outdoors and reading , or sitting by the campfire. We made several easy day trips to Highlands, Franklin, Sylva, Cherokee, the Great Smoky Mountain Nat’l Park, and Gatlinburg, TN. Thank you for sharing your beautiful, comfortable, welcoming mountain cabin with us! We loved it, and we’re already looking forward to a return visit soon!
First, the good-to-great. The cabin was exceptionally clean, extremely well appointed and appeared to have been recently renovated. The owner has put a lot of thought into the amenities and toiletries available. The property is well maintained with a variety of outdoor seating areas on the wrap around deck. Now the not-so-good. The mattress in the master bedroom is sorely in need of either a replacement or a thick mattress pad. Access to the cabin is a drive through a small creek and then up a steep, narrow gravel road. My truck was able to make the climb, but I suspect lighter passenger cars could have problems with a couple of sharp turns onto 45-degree inclines. We made a point of not going out or coming back to the cabin after dark to avoid driving the road. A warning about cabin access should be pointed out in the listing.
Very nice property. We wanted for nothing. Very well appointed.
This cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the mountains. A short drive to the towns of Franklin, Cashiers and the Highlands and surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscape in the region. The property manager, Kristi, provided exceptional service from our last-minute check-in to our extended stay. The cabin is well-appointed, clean and spacious, and the grounds were perfect for letting our Golden explore. We didn't have any trouble with the driveway or crossing the small creek in our Toyota Highlander and would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway to the mountains.
My family of four stayed in this charming little cabin in the woods throughout snowstorm Izzy. Overall we ended up with around 7-8 inches of snow. We had so much fun building a large snowman, walking the beautiful property and having many snowball fights. This snowstorm got pretty rough at times with strong winds and we lost power for 30 hours before we were able to leave safely when the roads were plowed. The great news is that the gas fireplace in the living room kept the home very warm…we actually had to sleep with it off so we wouldn’t get too hot. The propane grill on the deck also has a cooktop eye so we were able to grill and cook so many things. The home is very comfortable and even had a landline phone we could use to call from when our cell phone batteries were low. The owners were so kind and continued to check in on us. I would suggest having an AWD or a 4WD vehicle especially during the winter months. To access the property you will drive through a shallow creek and make two sharp turns on your assent. Overall it’s not very difficult but if you think you will have ice or snow you will need to park down closer to the creek so that you don’t get iced in. Through the storm we loved our family time together playing in the snow, reading by the fireplace and playing card games. Sometimes being forced to unplug turns out to be a huge blessing! We can’t wait to come back when we can do more exploring!
This was our first time in North Carolina. We traveled with our two small kids and our dog and by far one of our best trips. The home was perfect! The view of the surrounding woods was wonderful, the sounds from the creek and the birds in the morning were very relaxing. I found myself getting up early every morning, before my family got up, to make myself a cup of coffee and sit out on the deck in rocking chairs and read a book. It was really great to find a beautiful and comfortable home that allowed our pet, and boy did he enjoy every minute outdoors. We all enjoyed the outdoor space very much. This is the perfect home to get away and relax!!
April’s home was so clean and cozy with plenty of space. The driveway up does require AWD as it is steep and needs enough clearance for a small creek. I think this needs to be noted in the listing. I had some issues communicating with April because I was replying via email, and didn’t realize she was trying to communicate via the VRBO app! No ones fault there, just a miscommunication. The house features amazing fire pits (gas and wood!), gorgeous views, all the appliances needed. One suggestion would be to have more blankets during the winter months. Thanks again to April for a lovely stay!
The property is beautiful!!! Loved using my new jeeps 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway. The cabin was so clean and everything in inside looked new. 64 is an amazing drive… beautiful colors in the mountains and waterfalls. It was a peaceful trip.
