Welcome to Lissie Wright’s Cabin... Due to the antique nature of this Log Cabin, we do not allow more than 4 people on the property FOR ANY REASON AT ANY TIME, including weddings, reunions, picnics etc.!!

Lissie Wright’s Cabin offers a one of a kind Asheville Vacation in a serene, private setting. The cabin was hand-built by Mr. Newton Wright & wife, Lissie in the late 1800's, using trees from the surrounding forest. Their efforts produced this Very charming home,(and property) which was completely Restored in 2010.

NOTE* The creek banks lost some land and shrubbery from hurricane Helene. We have and continue to restore it 1 section at a time.

Husband, wife & 9 children worked their small farm from this 1 bedroom log home. Out-buildings & barns, (from the farm) remain intact & preserved . (Some buildings are not accessible but provide fantastic photos).

The cabin has been featured in local magazines,
national wedding publications, The Fairview Town Crier & The Asheville Citizen Times,
(chosen as Asheville's 'home of the week' July, 2012).

The Cabin features 1 bedroom (downstairs) with queen bed and a 2nd floor loft with 2 double beds.
*NOTE...Loft is up a rustic wood staircase, totally private, but not enclosed with a door. (Loft is the whole 2nd floor). (See photos of loft and living room for clarification).

Antique chandeliers, reclaimed White Pine floors & vintage furnishings provide authenticity... Top of the line double- pane, thermal windows, modern kitchen, central a/c, and high speed internet make it comfortably-modern year around.

Absolutely perfect 'romantic retreat' for a couple, a family, or a small group of friends. Very easy drive to all area attractions... 11 miles (15 minutes) to Asheville & Biltmore House, 15 miles (25 minutes) to Lake Lure & Chimney Rock,
17 miles (25 minutes) to Black Mountain.

Relax on the leather sofa in front of a wood stove fireplace as you enjoy the ambience of this hand- hewn, (solid white oak), log home. Wright's Cabin features a cozy country kitchen & modernized bathroom. The kitchen features granite counter tops & 1940's era crystal chandeliers. Dining nook was hand-made from 1850's Tennessee church pews.

Outside, (WATCH VIDEO), take a stroll along 800+ feet of Trantham Creek, ( The creek can be heard from the entire property). Walk in the adjoining 3 acre field to enjoy a mountain view, or hike the additional 4.5 acre slopes behind the cabin, (our property extends all the way to the next street above). At night, gaze at the stars from the field or toast marshmallows on the outdoor fireplace. There are a few antique out-buildings, including a wagon barn that has been converted into a creek-side entertainment pavilion. There is a historic double crib barn featuring full dove- tail cornering. This bldg provides GREAT photo-ops, (please do not explore it's interior).

The Cabin is Close to everything...

Asheville, Chimney Rock, Black Mountain & Lake Lure.

Wright's Cabin is located very close to the heart of Downtown Asheville, (15 minute drive). Asheville and the surrounding area offers something for everyone, be it dining, music, shopping, golfing, museums, or hiking. This cabin is located just 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Enjoy a hike or a refreshing drive to an overlook. Come enjoy this conveniently located historic cabin for a memorable vacation.

Absolutely beautiful piece of property. Lots of room to play ball with my son in the yard in between fishing and hiking. Close to everything but still felt as if we had our own private slice of heaven. Thanks so much!

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, historic home. It's such a sweet, peaceful spot. The home and grounds are very well maintained, preserving a snapshot of days gone by. The host was very communicative and the caretaker, Sarah, could not have been more responsive and helpful. We appreciate the opportunity to experience this unique property and look forward to another stay really soon.

The cabin was very cozy and authentic! The historic quality was top notch! The only issue that my husband had was that he is 6’ and he had to duck through the doorways and he kept hitting his knees on the kitchen table. He also mentioned that the pictures of the creek looked like it was more private but it was right next to the roadway. I loved everything about it!

The host Eric and the property manager Sarah were very attentive and extremely prompt with any responses. This little piece of Heaven was beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect place for our honeymoon! Such a wonderful bit of history and we absolutely loved it!

We absolutely loved our stay at this charming 1850s mountain cabin! It truly felt like stepping back in time—cozy, quiet, and perfectly tucked away in nature. We spent evenings by the adorable fire pit, swinging and roasting marshmallows, and mornings sipping coffee creekside while balancing stones. The atmosphere was peaceful, and it offered a true rustic mountain experience without sacrificing comfort (yes, it even has AC!).The cabin was spotless and beautifully maintained for its age—truly a picture-perfect historic home. The host was wonderful, easy check in and providing helpful suggestions and local tips. Thanks to advice from friendly locals, we avoided an unnecessary detour from Helene and enjoyed exploring Chimney Rock and the surrounding area. The whole community was welcoming, with shop owners happy to see visitors as tourism since Helene impacted the area. The Shops opened for the 1st time this week in Chimney Rock in the village. While our larger family size limits us from visiting this property more often, any time we’re down to four famil members, this will be at the top of our list. It’s a dream cabin in a stunning location, with breathtaking views all around. For sleepers who like a breeze, note there are no ceiling fans, so bring one along if needed—I always travel with my own air purifier and diffuser, so it wasn’t an issue for me.If you’re looking for a peaceful mountain getaway full of charm and history, this cabin is everything you could hope for.
