Lakeside cabin on the Central Oregon Coast

I am reluctant to share a review because I want to keep this little gem a secret... but the owners obviously work hard to provide the perfect home away from home, and deserve some praise. The cabin is beautiful, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully stocked with everything you could need or want! The lake front property is stunning, it feels very private and serene. I wish I could live in this cabin forever, to be honest! Judging by the comfortable environment and luxuries provided, I'd bet that the owners are people who know how to host a really fun and elegant party but probably value their privacy too much to do so very often. Perfect place for a romantic couples get away! Highly recommend. Staying here was a real treat, we will absolutely be back for special occasions!

We had such a wonderful romantic getaway celebrating both Thanksgiving and my wife’s birthday weekend. I booked this cabin a couple of months ago, and by the time we arrived, I had forgotten most of the photos—except the lake one—so walking in felt like a pleasant surprise!As former Alaska residents, this cozy cabin brought back memories of the places we used to rent back home, which made our stay even more special. Since we celebrated Thanksgiving here, we were extra grateful that the kitchen had everything we needed to make our meal.The booking process and communication with the host were incredibly easy, which helped our trip start off on the right foot. The cabin was in wonderful condition, and we felt truly welcomed from the moment we arrived. It was a peaceful, cozy stay—we appreciated every detail.Our furry babies absolutely loved exploring the outdoors and enjoying all the freedom. Thank you for creating such a peaceful and memorable space—we’d love to come back!

Very quiet, relaxing, comfortable stay.

This was our second stay at Heron’s Hideway. The location is wonderful on a peaceful, beautiful lake and yet close to Florence a charming town with good shopping and many great restaurants. The hosts are very accommodating and ensure your stay is perfect. The provided kayaks allow you to get out onto the lake.We hope to return and highly recommend!

We were met with a vase of flowers on the kitchen counter. The home was very clean and lots of essentials were included (spices, sugar, condiments, tea, soap, shampoo) Instruction sheet on counter was complete and helpful. We were a little surprised at the lack of privacy between the two sleeping areas. Probably my own fault for not reading all the reviews. The driveway is very steep and might be difficult to navigate parking wise, with a large vehicle. The bed was very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you

We loved staying at Heron's Hideaway! The cabin was perfect for three adults and our water-loving dog. We paddled around the lake in the canoes and kayaks, swam off the floating dock, watched birds, read books on the sunny deck overlooking the lake, cooked in the well-equipped kitchen (love a rental that comes with a salad spinner!), played cards, and did a 500 piece puzzle. So relaxing! The cabin was clean and tidy, with helpful labels on things so that we could find things easily and know how things worked. Joan's special touches like fresh flower bouquets, guest slippers and robes, and a little basket of tasty snacks and assorted teas were delightful. Highly recommend!

Peaceful and beautiful spot just outside Florence. Cabin is well stocked and cozy and we didn’t want to leave! Enjoyed an early morning paddle in the canoe on the serene lake.

Everything about the stay was perfect including the cabin and local opportunities to explore. Started the day with yoga on the lower deck and breakfast on the upper deck.After a long hike, our bluetooth connection provided soulful jazz in the evenings with mezmerizing views of the lake.What's not to like?

Amazing lakeside cozy cabin! Perfect for a weekend getaway. Close to the coast but also nicely tucked away.

We had a terrific time at this lake cabin. The lake is beautiful and the cabin has everything you need along with a great view of the lake. It is so quiet and peaceful.

Was a very short stay but just what we needed. No complaints and would come again if we were in the area.

Loved staying in your perfect cabin on the lake. Quiet neiborhood, great for going on walks with our dog. Can't wait to come back in the Summer when we can actually get on the lake

Great place. Lots of wildlife viewing

Our family of three (+ a dog) stayed at this cabin for Thanksgiving and enjoyed the space. All of the necessary kitchen and bathroom supplies were available, as well as extra dog supplies, which was appreciated. The location made it easy to drive into town or to the beach.

Cannot compliment this property enough. It was absolutely perfect. The hosts thought of everything. We had the most relaxing time and will definitely be back!

This stay was extremely peaceful!! Very clean and precious little Place. Driveway was a little difficult with having a clutch. But overall very lovely. lovley lovely lovelyburiedwonderful

We absolutely loved this place! It’s on older build but has been meticulously maintained and loved that it just feels like home. The owner’s obviously want their guest to feel at home. When we walked in there were flowers on the kitchen counter! Then the windows with the lake view just draw you in and you feel relaxed after your long day on the road. There are two living areas. One you can enjoy on the main level with the comfort of the pellet stove on those chilly mornings while watching the wildlife appear on the deck-squirrels, chipmunks and birds! The host even provided food for them! The other living area is downstairs off the bedroom. Bed was comfy, bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Kitchen had condiments and spices which was great since we only ate out for lunch. We are on a 3 week tour of the PNW and this is our favorite lodging so far! I give it 10 stars!!!

Really enjoyed the cozy setting, the wildlife, and the general area. Sea Lion Caves and Heceta Light are not to be missed!

I was a participant at the Coastal Plein Air Paint Out. This was an incredible place to stay while relaxing and painting. A lovely waterfront with kayaks to play with. A scenic area with deck to enjoy the serenity of the lake. I can’t wait to do it again!

We had a wonderful welcoming committee of little ground squirrels and bluejays upon arrival. Luckily we brought some Critter Crunch with us so we had a little snack with them prior to heading in the house. We ended up dining with 7 squirrels and 5 bluejays the rest of our stay. We had 4 deer that visited in the mornings to have breakfast with us all. We enjoyed watching movies, the beautiful scenery, and the antics of the squirrels the entire stay. The only down side was leaving the fun behind. We will definately return when we have the time. So quiet and relaxing.

We are fortunate to live in Florence, OR, just a quick drive from this lovely, rustic cabin. I've stayed here twice now with family (the 2nd time with one of my dogs) and there is an immediate sense of comfort when you walk in, as if you've returned home. Even my dog sensed this reassuring atmosphere - I've not seen her so relaxed in a long time, it was like she had always live there. The cabin is lake-front with a long staircase down to the private dock with kayaks and other types of boats - lovely for lounging on with a glass of wine as well if you take down a couple of light camp chairs provided by the hosts. You can also feed the critters with critter food Joan, the host, provides - the chipmunks are the tamest I've ever seen in my life and even tapped on the window once to let me know it was their 'feeding time'. Joan, the host, is a responsive communicator if the occasional question comes up. If you appreciate a true rustic cabin experience that is comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully stocked with necessary amenities in a peaceful, serene environment with beautiful views of Collard Lake, this cabin won't disappoint!

Even though the property owners were out of town the week we came, they showed they really cared by checking in before and during our stay! The property was just how the photos show it. It was such a nice and quiet getaway for my husband and I.

Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed our visit. Everything imaginable was provided. A fairly long flight of stairs leads to the water with boats available for use. A really quiet area with just the usual suberbia noises (Dogs, building projects, etc.). Overall a nice relaxing place while sitting on the deck overlooking the lake. It's about a 15 minute drive to Old Town Florence so it's easy to access the great restaurants and shops. Would recommend as a great vacation spot.

We totally enjoyed our stay. The home is set up with everything you need and is impeccably maintained. We watched mother does with their fawns, rabbits and other wildlife. Morning coffee on the deck overlooking the lake. A warm pellet dyove for yoasty evenings.

Roomy comfortable house in beautiful old trees on a lovely lake. Very functional kitchen. Kayaks, canoe and rowboat at the dock. Look forward to coming back.

Cabin just as pictured. Hosts absolutely the best. You are made to feel at home and welcomed. Great place to relax and enjoy the lake view. Wonderful for kayaking with the provided kayaks. A canoe provided also. Bed was comfortable and cabin clean and well stocked. Very close to shopping, restaurants and beaches. Highly recommend. We are anxious to return.
