Spend a quintessential summer in Maine at this darling lakefront cottage on the shores of McGrath Pond. Once featured on Magnolia Network's 'Maine Cabin Masters,' this home has been lovingly restored as a family gathering space.

This picturesque abode sits near the northeastern corner of McGrath Pond, a spring-fed body of water that flows into Salmon Lake and the five other interconnected Belgrade Lakes. It's a beautiful setting for swimming and kayaking, taking afternoon naps in thehammock, and roasting marshmallows around the firepit at the water's edge. Two kayaks and two paddleboards are provided, so feel free to have adventures on the water and the home's boat slip. Oakland is two miles east while bustling Waterville and renowned Colby College are about four miles beyond.

Enter through a beautiful side deck, where you can barbecue in the afternoons, dine alfresco at sunset, and relax in the evenings while listening to the call of the loons. Inside, the cottage was renovated in a way that kept its charms intact, offering lofty ceilings, exposed crossbeams, and natural wood at every turn. Central heat and air-conditioning ensure comfort all year long.

The living space is lined with windows, allowing you to admire the view of the lake whether you're cooking in the open kitchen, chopping vegetables on the island, or kicking back on the sofas to play cards or stream movies. Two inviting bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and complimentary WiFi, are also provided.

This camp was very comfortable and well equipped will just about everything you would need to enjoy this camp. This little camp would sleep 5 but was good for just the 2 of us. The loft has 2 single beds but would NOT be good for people with mobility issues. We used the kayaks and the pond has beautiful clean water. If you eat indoors, there is not much room except for 2 people. More eating places are available outdoors with the picnic table and adirondack chairs by the pond/lake. Queen bed was very comfortable and the evenings are very dark and quiet except for the occasional loon calls. There was an eagle nest in a tree next door and you could see the nest from the kayak being on the water. There was always hot water and even though it was potable water, there was bottled water to be able to use of drinking and cooking. All-in-all, we would stay here, again!

This camp was perfect for what we were looking for! We loved having our coffee at sunrise and soaking up the sun throughout the day. While it’s close to other properties and there were plenty of kids outside and in the water out front, everyone was very respectful, and it never felt disruptive. The camp itself had everything we needed and felt modern and comfortable. One thing to note: small flies were a bit of a nuisance indoors—especially in the kitchen and bathroom. We recommend washing dishes before and after meals, as we noticed both live and dead flies around those areas. We really appreciated the provided water fountain since the tap water isn’t potable—they had plenty of clean drinking water ready for us. The hill leading up to the camp is quite steep, but we didn’t mind—it gave our calves a little extra workout! The view is absolutely breathtaking. We highly recommend staying here for your Maine getaway

The cabin is clean and well-kept, with plenty of amenities. There is lots of light, and a great view of the lake from both the cabin and deck. Kayaks and paddle boards are available to use, as well as a gas grill, hammock, and awesome fireplace for evenings outside. The camp is located in a nice little cove, where loons frequently swim, and you can also hear their calls at night. There is currently a Bald Eagle's nest nearby so there were plenty of sightings. Had a wonderful stay!

An added bonus was the eagles nest with youngsters fledging next door. Also the loons.

Loon Cove is an exceptional retreat that offers an unparalleled escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We were captivated by the stunning views and the enchanting sounds of nature, including the majestic calls of nearby eagles and loons. This cabin provided the perfect sanctuary for my husband and me, allowing us to unwind and recharge in a serene environment. Nestled at a convenient distance from town, Loon Cove feels like a true oasis. We relished our cozy evenings by the lake, gathered around a crackling fire, and had the delightful option of dining in nearby Oakland or Waterville for breakfast or dinner. Our stay was filled with adventure—kayaking, fishing, paddleboarding, and exploring the picturesque hiking trails in Rome, Maine. I wholeheartedly recommend this charming cabin. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway for two or a tranquil retreat for your family, Loon Cove is sure to exceed your expectations. We couldn't have imagined a better escape!

Had a wonderful time. Loon Cove is exactly that, the Loons were everywhere. The cabin was comfortable and well appointed. I really enjoyed my stay. I have one criticism, the sheer curtains in the bedrooms and bathrooms need to have a privacy/darkening option. The sun comes up at 4:30am and the trash guy, landscaper and nature viewers were on and around the property throughout my stay.

My family of three stayed at this cabin for 5 nights. First, the view of the lake was gorgeous! There is a nice firepit with chairs outside, which my husband and I used every night! It was so relaxing to sit by the water and the fire, enjoying the fresh air. The stars are absolutely beautiful at night, and it was pretty quiet and peaceful. Also, the cabin was well appointed with items you would need to store and prepare meals during your stay. There was plenty of sleeping space. The loft has two beds, and the floor space is up there is quite large. I slept very well, the mattresses and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was a decent size, with plenty of towels. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and would return again!

We were traveling through New England and were looking forward to spending some time exploring the pond. We’d already been at the coast and were headed to more mountains and hiking inland over the rest of the week. We arrived and found they had put the paddleboards and kayaks away for the season. The neighbors on the cove still had lots of water toys set up. When we called, we were told that they put the Paddleboards and kayaks away October 1st. There was no mention of that in the listing and this was the reason we chose this property so we were very disappointed. We then realized that there were dryer sheets scattered all around, under couch pillows and cushions, in kitchen drawers. It anppears they were closing up for the season. We also had no hot water in the shower for a time period. The property managers send someone out late that afternoon to fix the hot water issue. I had to call the property manager back for updates instead of them reaching back out to me. We were given a small credit back on our rate. I will be cautious renting properties from this property company again. I’ll probably give them another chance somewhere else but only one.
