Lakefront 3-bedroom cabin on Fontana Lake with stunning views and a private dock

First off the view was spectacular! Amy and Eric were quick to respond which was a plus. Cabin was nice, but a few things that could use attention: Mildew on outdoor cushions, broken umbrellas, broken ping pong table, kitchen cabinet doors & drawers broken. Pictures online must be from years ago as decks, playset, etc are very worn. I would not even mention these things typically, but for the price point per night, these items need to be addressed. In addition, the path to get to lake is TREACHEROUS. The ATV is handy but the path has washouts and ruts that need to be addressed. The online description needs to be clear that it is a HAUL to get down to the dock. Also, I would not rent the pontoon boat for the week or you will get stuck like we did paying for the entire stay and only being able to use for 2 days, due to inclement weather. In addition, you use more gas driving 45 minutes to get to a marina to fill up the boat then we used while actually boating. This place is pretty but in the middle of nowhere. there are no stores and no dining closer than at least 30 minutes away. If you are seeking solitude than it is perfect.

Amazing view, had everything for the kids, it was a perfect family vacation. Don’t forget to stock up on food it’s about 20 min from the nearest shop but it’s quite a ride;) Definitely coming back

Everything was perfect!! Best family vacation we have ever had! Eric and Amy are wonderful to work and communicate with. Amazing view, beds were comfortable, had all cooking utensils you would need for family dinners. Kiddos enjoyed the pool table and games provided. Adults enjoyed cornhole and relaxing. We are already planning our next vacation stay here

The cabin was very peaceful and quiet, surrounded by beautiful scenery and relaxing views. It was exactly what our family was looking for to enjoy a calm and meaningful New Year’s celebration together.

We spent Christmas here and it was amazing. So much to do at the Cabin. Pool table, hot tub, incredible views, fire pit, and the lake to go fishing. Our host was accommodating by letting us book an additional night. The beds were comfortable and they have WiFi which helped us stay connected with family and friends. We spent Christmas Eve snow skiing in Maggie Valley and took a Christmas Day hike on the Appalachian trail at Fontana Dam. We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away.

What a wonderful cabin with all the amenities you can imagine! We even had an apple pie waiting on us when we arrived! Very clean, very well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, highly recommended!!!

What an amazing stay! Certainly a little slice of Heaven carved into the Smokey mountains. My wife and I were blown away with our visit. We will be back!

Serene. Beautiful views. Incredible star gazing. Lazy Elk is 4-5 miles from the nearest through road. The last two miles are on a well maintained gravel driveway. This guarantees privacy and quiet. We spent hours on the deck without hearing a man made sound (except for occasional hot tub and air conditioning). At night we counted satellites and watched shooting stars. Mornings we watched the clouds form and rise right in front of us. At first we had trouble slowing down to natures pace but by the end of our stay we were ready for another week. The dock is fun but it is a steep winding trail to get there. The ATV is a must. The only negative is it does takes a while to get to hiking trails. We hiked Lake Santeela Lake Nantahala and various hikes in the Smokey Mountains and it was always 45-75 minutes. Bryson City is about 45 minutes away.

This was an AMAZING WEEKEND stay! The owner/property manager decorated the cabin for our friend's 50th birthday and even provided a cake and flowers...how super thoughtful and kind. We all so appreciated that surprise!!! THANKS YOU SO VERY MUCH! The cabin has such awesome comfort and every amenity to relax and have fun! I no longer have to search for the perfect cabin for next vacation NC cabin. We'll definitely be returning. Truly appreciate all you did to make it very special! It really was over & beyond!

The view from the deck is absolutely amazing, this is where we spent most of our time. The house was larger than we expected with plenty of room for the 8 of us. We rented the boat for the week, The kids and adults all had a blast tubing and looking at the gorgeous mountain view’s!

My friends threw me a 40th birthday with a camp theme. This cabin had every game and every amenity that we could have asked for. The boat, the house, the location all were perfect! Thank you for a memorable trip.

The Lazy Elk cabin was a beautiful home that provided an amazing view of the surrounding mountains and lake below. We appreciated all the lovely amenities provided in the cabin. I would also mention that the owners were very responsive to questions and requests. Our family had a wonderful week exploring the beauty of the area by both car and boat.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the property, very quiet, the patio view was stunning, we even drove the 4 wheeler down to the lake, will stay there again.

Had a lovely time. Host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The view from the backporch is stunning, and we enjoyed mornings drinking coffee and watching for the bald eagle to fly across the lake. Overall very relaxing time!

Everything was even better than expected. Great views, relaxing atmosphere, and even good kitchen wear!We had a few small issues brought on by cold weather, but the owner connected us with the property manager, who helped us troubleshoot the issues quickly.

My family rented the cabin for Christmas. The cabin was wonderful with amazing views of the lake and mountains. The cabin was furnished beautifully and stocked with everything we needed. It was comfortable and charming. The best part was it was decorated for Christmas with a tree and stockings hung on the fireplace. It was the perfect place for my family to enjoy Christmas and get some well-deserved downtime. The hosts were easy to work with and communicated very well. I would highly recommend this cabin. We can't wait to go back in the summer!

We really enjoyed out time at this house. There are close by small towns that are wonderful and we drove to Cherokee that was less than an hour away. Only difficulty was with the GPS, during the day we had no issue but if you go there at night, make sure you get step by step directions ahead of time.

The Lazy Elk cabin was as presented in the VRBO information. It was clean, and the view of Fontana Lake was beautiful. Our particular GPS kept misdirecting us to the road, but thankfully some kind locals actually showed us the way. We stayed at the cabin almost the entire week, keeping warm by the fireplace and fire pits, and just unwinding.

Thank you for another great stay. The view and amenities really make this such a special place to visit. Hope to return again!

One of the best stays in the mountains! This home is well equipped and beautiful! Amy and Eric were such a pleasure to work with. The gravel road to the property is well maintained and extremely secluded. The use of the ATV was very appreciated, and the use of the pontoon boat was the cherry on top. We were able to see a bear swimming in the lake! The town of Robbinsville is one of the friendliest I have been to. There is not one bad thing to say! I plan on renting this one again in the future if it is still being utilized as a rental property. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Great family vacation! Plenty to do on the lake.

This was our second time we stayed at the lazy Elk. We really liked the upgrades to the back deck and the dock. The views are great and everything in the home was comfortable. We really enjoyed the pontoon. The kids had such a blast at the rope swing heading into panther creek.

The directions were very clear to get to property. Owner was very responsive to the small issues that arised. The cabin is absolutely stunning, and the view is unreal how beautiful it is!! Boat rental went smoothly and SO fun! Everything was very clean, beds were so comfortable, plenty of supplies and towels for our large group, kitchen really is fullt syocked for your needs.

We cannot say enough positive words! The location is spectacular with a wonderful view of the lake and the Smoky Mountains. We especially appreciated the use of the ATV to ride to the private dock, which is on a secluded cove. Swimming and kayaking nearly every day were so enjoyable in the pure, clean waters of Fontana Lake. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. We were pleased to see it stocked so well! We had plenty of paper products, kitchen bags, and even shampoo, conditioner and body wash were supplied. They even had beach towels available for lake use and for the hot tub. We forgot to pack coffee filters (the one item) but were pleasantly surprised to find extras in the cabinet. Additionally, more than enough firewood is provided, which we appreciated the night we roasted marshmallows! The grill was immaculate and both dining on the deck and having our morning coffee there was something we relished. Nighttime was perfect for relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the stars, sounds of nature and incredible views. We were blessed to have communication with our hosts. They were extremely responsive and a pleasure with which to interact. So pleased are we that we wasted no time in booking next summer. We cannot imagine a nicer or more beautiful place to be.

We stopped here after a couple days in the Smokies and on our way back to Nashville. Wanted to experience the South side of the mountains. Although it was only a couple days, the visit was outstanding. Amy and Eric were great hosts. The Lazy Elk had EVERYTHING we needed and the view was amazing. We used the boat on our only full day there and it was great. What is special is that there are maybe 10 houses with any view of the amazing lake and even fewer have boat/dock access. Fontana Lake is huge and we saw maybe 5 boats the whole day. We enjoyed the boat, grilling, hot tub and the outdoor games the two nights we were there. Although a very quick trip it was the most relaxing part of our vaca. A truly special place that is a great getaway for the busy smokies. Lots of hiking right off the lake as well. Highly recommended and 5 stars across the board!!
