Stayed Jun 20, 2026This lake house exceeded our expectations in every way. The property is gorgeous, with thoughtful touches throughout, and the views are simply breathtaking. The lake was peaceful and perfect for boating, swimming, kayaking, and unwinding as a family. Communication with the host was seamless from start to finish, which made everything even easier. We made great memories together and would happily return.

Stayed Jun 13, 2026We were a large family group spending the week together at The Reel View and overall our experience there was enjoyable. The kitchen was well equipped, the house had plenty of space to spread out, and the view from the den and top deck was fantastic! However, with each passing day, the walk from the dock up to the house became more tedious and challenging. Also the master bedroom could use more lighting and installing blinds in all the bedroom windows would be a good improvement. We also had a carbon monoxide detector go off in the middle of the night - waking everyone in the house- and scrambled to find a replacement battery for it.

Stayed Jun 6, 2026We had 4 generations of 16 people who enjoyed a memorable week together with beautiful views and fantastic weather! As others have mentioned, the kitchen was very well stocked with cups/plates/utensils, serving/cutting utensils, pots and pans, and a variety of spices. The under cabinet ice machine was essential for filling coolers and the second fridge downstairs was great for drinks. We also rented the UTV and couldn't have managed the week without it (especially for going up). The owner's pontoon was great for multiple sunset cruises by all in our party, and so fun for daytime use for tubing and wake boarding. The wifi/internet was strong enough to support a variety of activities in the evenings, so previous comments regarding spotty service no longer seem to be an issue. I will point out that the upper level of the dock no longer has the comfy seating as pictured & described; it currently has 2 square tables with 4 fixed benches around the sides. There are umbrella holes in the middle of both, and I would strongly recommend bringing table umbrellas or a portable canopy for that upper level. The steel floor was too hot to walk on (barefoot) during our hottest days (high 80s/90 degrees) and we would have benefitted from some second level shade. Our whole crew wanted to be at the dock all day, but comfortable seating was a challenge on both dock levels for those taking a break from the water. I will bring beach & camp chairs/shade if we are fortunate enough to return.

Stayed Aug 29, 2025Wonderful place for a friend's weekend. The house is gorgeous and fully stocked for a large crowd. The views are great! The double-deck boathouse is great! You can float, swim or fish off the dock. Or just enjoy the sun! We rented the owner's boat and had a great time on the lake. The fire pit is fun for an evening gathering. The hot tub is nice for chilly evenings. The kitchen is new and fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, etc. The linens are already on the bed. Check-in was very easy. And check-out was also easy. There is a lot of space, lots of bathrooms, great mattresses, great tvs to watch sports and a Blackstone to cook outside. I would definitely rent an Off-Road Vehicle to go up and down the mountain to the water. That is very steep and a long way down. But the house and property look just like the photos. The owners had great communication with us. And we cannot wait to go back!

Stayed Aug 9, 2025Very private, older kids and young adults had a great time jumping off the 2 level dock and swimming. The pontoon boat was fun and easily towed 2 at a time. Love setting on the upper deck, the view is outstanding. Definitely get the recommended UTV, us old folks would never make it up the hill without one.

Stayed Aug 2, 2025This is by far one of the best properties we've found for a vacation spot. The house was absolutely gorgeous and everything was exactly as listed. There were plenty of bedrooms (and then some) and more than enough space for everyone to do their own thing. We rented a UTV to get to the lake (which you really need to do) and made the most of the two-story dock. The kids loved jumping in and using the kayaks. Everything within the house worked great and it was more than we could have asked for!

Stayed Jul 26, 2025We had a wonderful family reunion here. It was perfect for our family of 3 generations. The younger ones had their own play area downstairs with foosball, games, tv…The view of the mountains is beautiful and the sunsets can be too! We would definitely return here. But things to note:If you plan on going to the lake a lot you need to rent the UTV from Cooke Rentals. If you are staying a week you will need extra towels and washcloths (only one per person per week are provided) or bring laundry detergent. No hand towels are provided. No hand soap, shower soap, dish soap are provided. You will need extra toilet paper. The store is not close so come prepared. Lake James is a beautiful, peaceful lake! The hosts are very responsive.

Stayed Jul 12, 2025We loved our stay. Would definitely recomend renting a atv 4 wheeler. The owner was very helpful to everything we needed. Lots of great memories with three generations of our family. If planning a lake vacation again, this would be our first choice.

Stayed Jun 21, 2025The house is really well maintained and clean... However, you're in the woods so naturally there are bugs.Views are amazing. A UTV is a must - you won't utilize the lake as much of you don't have one.Lots of space for the family to gather - but also enough room to have alone time.Would absolutely stay again!
