We had a wonderful time at the Kickback Cabin. It was clean, dog-friendly, and in a beautiful remote location. We walked the trails around the property and our pup thoroughly enjoyed the sniffs. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for and relaxing. Lots of places to visit nearby, we really enjoyed a few trips to Athens, Logan, and Nelsonville for dining. A great place to visit and unwind.

Really nice cabin. Gave you the feeling of being all by yourself in the woods. Had everything you need for great stay. Super easy check in. The owners did a great job!

The cabin was so peaceful and secluded. It was everything that we needed. The cleanliness and the amenities were excellent also. Even though we were unable to use the grill or the fireplace, Shannon and Nick had everything ready for us to do so. We did take advantage of the kitchen amenities and everything that we needed was available. The cabin was very tidy and super spacious. We loved it!

Nice place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet getaway! Not too far from attractions. So nice that there is a fenced in area for dogs and doggie doors. Communication was great.

We loved our stay at the Kickback cabin! The trails on the property and fenced in deck were so great for our dog, and we loved the screened in porch during a thunderstorm! Would definitely stay here again.

Was excited,we travel with our 2 dogs: and door was NOT locked when we arrived, just pushed it open,finally got it to lock, needs a new one(saw this in a review and thought it would of been fixed) You can see light through deadbolt in door to fenced area, needs replaced. You could slide it left to right.”, we didn’t feel secure. No curtains on 2 of the 3 doors?? The 3rd door had a PAPER like cover with tears. Again, security issue. Out to the fenced area the second stair down bends and moves when you go down,was unstable. Our dog got hung up in briars, they were on inside of fence and we had to pick up tons of sticks(big ones) because afraid we would tripor dogs get hurt.It rained and back steps major slick. If our dog put paws on the fence it would have fell over. SO UNSTABLE and you could push the whole fence down if you wanted to on 2 of the 4 sides. We were going to grill and the top lid was broken so we didn’t use it. Just 1 tv and very small. Our dog lost a chew toy we looked under the couch/bed and it was disgusting,we lifted the couch cushions and there was hair and a PILE of some kind of food(we didn’t touch it) so that tells us they didn’t change the cover on the couch or clean under the cushions Upsetting when you pay a cleaning fee and see this. If these things were fixed it would be UNBELIEVABLE. Have photos of all. Has good things but wouldn’t stay till above repaired. Good:Trails,location,dog friendly,remote,nice inside

Nick and Shannon’s cabin was the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The cabin is spacious and comfortable. I still can’t believe that this is a dog friendly place. It smelled and looked clean. The bed was so comfortable too! We enjoyed the hiking trails on the property and lounging around inside.

Nick was always quick to respond to messages and requests. The place is awesome, very clean, very private and in a very serene area. The fenced in yard for the dogs is definitely a plus! I will highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit the Hocking Hills area to check in here first! Thanks Nick for everything! -Dottie & Paul

The hosts were welcoming and great communicators. The cabin was nice and cozy, we had a great time and would visit again.

Great stay as advertised

It was amazing. Eveything was better than they described. The bed was so comfortable. The hot tub before each night gave us the best sleep. But the thing that made it extra special was the hand written personal note that was left on the table that will make it in our scrapbook was the chefs kiss. Also internet was not amazing but adequate to snuggle up and watch movies with.

Beautiful, cozy, clean, comfortable cabin. Host was accommodating and quick with communications. Hot tub was clean and super hot with great sky views, perfect for a snowy stay!

Loved our stay! Cabin was as described. It was fun exploring the onsite trails, relaxing by the fire, and unwinding in the hot tub. Highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful place to take a break from the world!

Loved staying at this cabin in the woods. Very private, quiet and relaxing. Despite all the attractions in Hocking Hills we spent a lot of time just hanging out with our 2 dogs. Nice trails right out the door. Would love to go back! Kick Back cabin is a very appropriate name.

Kick Back Cabin was in a great location in the woods, private & had lots of great amenities including being pet friendly. It was very clean & the hot tub was crystal clear & clean. We enjoyed the fire pit both nights as well. The only downside was the couch wasn't very comfortable & the decor could use a few updates. The door handle to the front door should also be replaced.I would definitely recommend this cabin, especially if you have a dog! Fenced in area & fenced in deck area - both w/ doggy doors!

The tv was very small could use a bigger tv also a tv in the bedroom no washer and dryer didn’t see anywhere it said there wasn’t one so that was a. Disappointment Wi-Fi wasn’t the best.

The cabin was very inviting and warm and also private. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and there is firewood on the property to purchase. The hot tub was relaxing. We would like to stay again sometime! Bring your own coffee and matches :)

Cabin was clean. Check-in was easy. Fenced in area was great for my dog. We did not use them but there were leads for dogs, water bowl, and crate.

My partner and i stayed at the kick back cabin as a long weekend getaway and it was perfect. The cabin is gorgeous and nestled in the woods so it was so relaxing and private. Cell service is super spotty at the cabin which was a perfect way to force us to disconnect from our phone and just enjoy nature. The cabin was super dog friendly with doggy doors to the fenced in yard and patio. It was amazing to be able to bring our dog with us on the trip. The drive to the wayne national park was super easy and the hikes there are gorgeous. I definitely recommend checking them our during your stay. If youre looking for a beautiful nature retreat i definitely recommend booking this VRBO!

It was a beautiful cabin in the woods so peaceful so clean had everything we needed and couldn't have asked for more .. 5

The cabin was nice, clean, well maintained. Kitchen and grill worked. All furnishings were in good condition. There were family games, small collection of DVDs. Hot tub worked well. The only issue was the WIFI was very poor to barely functioning. Really need a more reliable WIFI/internet in this geography where Verizon & ATT cell phone coverage is spotty.

We enjoyed this cabin so much. It was secluded and quiet. The perfect place to relax. The owners were very helpful. The cabin was so nice and clean. The pictures don’t do it justice.

Great location and such a wonderful cabin that had everything we needed! However, we were very disappointed in the fenced in yard for our little pup. It was a huge selling point for our choice in cabins and sadly it was a big let down. Looked nothing like the picture. In fact I wouldn’t even let our little guy step foot (paws) in it. So over grown, weeds galore and most of the yard was dirt. If you’re looking for a nice cabin with an awesome location this will work but don’t base your choice solely on the dog yard unless it gets a major landscape makeover.

Perfect place to stay when you want some peace and quite, felt very cozy, wifi is kinda spotty but that's what one should expect when staying that far back in the woods.

Weve stayed at Kickback Cabin a few times. It was just as good this time as it was 5 years ago. We loved being back in the woods. Very peaceful, beautiful and the best wildlife. The cabin is super comfortable and met every need we had. We will definitely be back.

We had a great time hiking the trails and coming home to a clean, quiet, and relaxing atmosphere at the kick back cabin! The cabin is tucked away from every day life and very private. We brought food with us and stayed in during the evenings. It’s the perfect place to unwind, sit outside, and read a book. We brought our dog and the fenced in area was super convenient early in the morning. We just wish we would have stayed longer!! We’re very thankful to nick and Shannon for making our stay such a great experience. Luke, Brooks, and I hope you have a great summer! We hope to stay there again one day.

Overall, the property was exactly as described—a charming cabin nestled in the woods. We enjoyed the peaceful setting, abundant wildlife, and access to winding trails around the property.A few things to note for future guests:•While the location feels remote, it’s not entirely quiet—there was occasional road noise and distant sounds of shooting.•The Wi-Fi is sufficient for light browsing, but not ideal for extensive remote work.That said, the setting and charm of the cabin made for a memorable stay—and we’d definitely consider returning in the future.

Inside was clean, dog friendly was great. My only Criticism is that the place looked older than the photos online.

We enjoyed a relaxing stay at Kick Back.No surprises from description and not much to add that isn't already addressed in other reviews.Pros for us: king bed, bedroom on same floor as bathroom (although bathroom is on opposite end of cabin), economical (but could use a few repairs), secluded enough without needing 4wd to access. Gas fireplace definitely kept us warm on rainy, chilly nights. Hot tub is a little older, but clean and enjoyable (need to warm it up prior to using it).We didn't get on the trails due to the rain, but saw deer on property on first night and various birds around the cabin.All in all, a great stay that fit our needs and budget.

We had a wonderful stay at this house. Very relaxing when we returned from a day of hiking. The outdoor areas were nice. The porches were nice to sit and relax. Quiet area also. Everything inside was what we needed.

Great location. Very Dog friendly. My dog loved being able to go in and out of the doggy doors into a fenced in space. It’s way off the main road so very private. Hot tub was a nice highlight. WiFi was pretty good for being that far out.

Cute cabin. Clean hot tub. Nice trails right outside the door. Only 20 minutes from Hocking Hills attractions. I stayed alone and wished there were coverings for doors as they were mostly window.

We enjoyed our stay and were able to relax with our two dogs. The fenced in area and enclosed upper deck were such a bonus. The walking trails were really nice and the hot tub gave us a perfect view of the night sky. It was a perfect place for our short get away. We would definitely recommend and stay there again!

This was our fifth or sixth time staying here and once again was perfect! The quiet, the peacefulness the property and the cabin never fail! Plenty of room to stretch out and the cabin has everything you need

My husband and I had a wonderful trip for our anniversary! The perfect, quiet space for a getaway.

Great location...convenient to Athens and Hocking Hills destinations but out-of-the-way enough for relative quiet. Well-maintained and interesting trails on-property, and a nicely appointed, spacious cabin. Highly recommend, esp if you're bringing doggie friends, who will love their own fenced-in run.

It was a nice cabin nearby a quaint little town! Me and my partner loved the fireplace and really enjoyed the open floor concept. Unfortunately, a mouse got caught in a trap under the kitchen sink, but Nick and Shannon took care of it as soon as they could, so we really appreciated that!

The cabin is tucked away at the back of the property and is quiet/secluded. The scenery was beautiful and we were easily able to get to many of the local hiking spots and state parks. If you are bringing a dog, the side yard is a great amenity.

Kick Back cabin was an amazing secluded winter getaway for our Anniversary. The private secluded cabin was cute & cozy and just what we needed to watch the snow fall close in around us. We will definitely return! We would like to stay on the property again in the Spring.

First time staying here! Love the quiet serenity of this location! Our senior pet loved the view out the windows. Wonderful quiet place to spend a few days in the woods during a very unseasonably warm winter period. Plenty of trails to explore on the property. Thoughtfully decorated. Love the size of the cabin. Perfect for 2 people and a dog. Would even be good for 4 people. Appreciate the extra touches like a fenced in portion for pups. Hot tub under the stars was a bonus. Thank you!

Communication was great with the owner!If you like to cook, plan to bring some kitchen towels and pans. What was there was a bit used. We read all the reviews, and they are pretty spot on. The cabin itself could use some updating, but for our Christmas getaway, we really didn't pay too much attention to the aesthetics. The outside steps that lead to the fenced-in area needed some good cleaning because they were very slick to walk on. They had some Christmas decorations up which made the time very festive. The cabin was very nice and I would do this trip again however next time bring a few more of our belongings. Thankful that we spent this time away from everyone to enjoy a very peaceful Christmas.We had NO cell service however the wi-fi worked great!

We were excited to go away for a couple nights in the woods, relax in the hot tub and come back in to a roaring fireplace...But the cabin was just so-so. The ceiling fans were lined with black dust/dirt. The hot tub was older, but still functional. The fireplace was one of those side table ones, not what we expected. I wouldn't have booked if i knew about it. I will read reviews thoroughly before booking again. Lesson learned.

Kick back cabin was perfect for a relaxing stay with our 2 dogs. Our dogs loved the fenced in yard and the trails. The cabin was clean, easy check in, and the setting was nice and private. Away from everything but close enough to town in case you need anything. The Christmas tree was a nice addition.

Such a peaceful place! My husband and I had such a relaxing time. Just what we needed. We brought along our 2 pugs. They loved the fenced in area and we did too! Also the side porch where they could sit out with us on swing and not get out. Great communication with hosts. I had a few questions before we arrived and they answered quickly. We hope to stay here again. We even got to see it snow before we left.

This was a repeat stay for us. We've been here a few times. It's a really nice place if you want to bring your dog since there is a fenced in area on one end and tie outs on the other end near the fire pit and hot tub. We very much enjoy the openness of the cabin and all the windows with a nice view of the outdoors. We have enjoyed walking the paths around the cabin, but this past time kind of found ourselves a little lost in our wanders. We were looking for the pond and couldn't find it. There used to be a hand-drawn map in the cabin, but we couldn't find that to give us better direction on the paths. Hopefully somebody can draw up another one. I would say to other potential renters, if you intend on cooking, bring your own sturdy utensils and pots/pans. This is not a gourmet kitchen. We made do. Note to owner: we would really love you if you updated that couch. It's not comfortable at all.

Overall I was very happy with our stay. The VRBO pictures need updated in my opinion. The cabin is clearly older than the pictures but we had a great time.

We loved where the cabin was at, no neighbors. Cabin was very nice and clean. Loved the windows, but the small ones on top really need to be washed. The bathroom, now that's a whole other issue! The shower was tiny and I mean very tiny. The toilet was child size and your knees hit the shower when sitting on it.

We really loved the cabin, it was just as expected! Communication with the host was always fast. Overall it was a nice getaway, and we especially liked how secluded it was for the dogs!

Loved the location, so peaceful, trails behind us, no one around. very spacious with plenty of room. Fenced in deck and back yard, so Odin did not need to be leashed. Had everything we needed. Would go back and stay there again. Have a great 2-night getaway.

Spotlessly clean! Kick Back was a great cabin for two adults and our Labrador. Nice touches for dog owners. We particularly loved the two completely fenced areas out each of the side doors. The cabin is at the back of the property, very nice and private. We would definitely stay again.

Nice little cabin in the woods. The cabin was clean inside and had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a very secluded spot for some peace and quiet this is the place.

Overall it was a good trip, the kick back cabin was nice. More remote than I expected. But we made it work. The town neilsonville did not have much and was kind of empty not much for dinning out. But the caves near by was absolutely beautiful and was a lot to do closer to the caves. Otherwise the cabin and property was beautiful and quiet nice and relaxing. We did loose power one time but came right back on, a storm blew thru quickly. Cell reception was very spotty and the Internet was spotty to. But overall was a great trip and the cabin was nice and clean.

We have not had this much peace and solitude in months. It was a perfect break. We could sit on the porch and listen to the rain. Walk the dog on the trails. Or just be. The property and cabin were both amazing. Plenty of everything we needed for our stay. The cabin is decorated tastefully. There is everything you would need to cook or places close by to eat out. If you are looking for a good place to curl up with a book or enjoy hiking this is the perfect place to go.

The Cabin needs to be maintained, screen porch needs to have news screens, curtain rods are all bent. Outside was overgrown it needed to be cleared back.
