Stayed May 22, 2026We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Greasewood Grocery. The cabin is right off the main road headed to Terlingua. It’s is a rain water only non-potable water source, which was not a problem for us. We brought our own water for drinking. The shower has an instant-hot water heater., which worked great. The AC kept us cold. It does have WiFi, but we did not test it during our stay. The host is very friendly and check-in process was simple. Great place to use as a base camp while exploring the Big Bend area. 👍 PS. We did have several people stop by thinking it really was a small grocery store. 😂

Stayed May 16, 2026No potable water. Air conditioner couldn't keep up with the temperature of 102! Need a larger a/c. It reminded us of our primitive camp in Pennsylvania. The chair was hot and no 2 places for people to sit except the the bed and the uncomfortable outdoor furniture. Definitely not worth the price!

Stayed Nov 19, 2025The pictures are exactly what you get. This was my first stay in a place like this. I’m totally a beach resort type of vacationer. I was surprised how comfortable I was here. If you like taking photos the location is perfect for portraits. I got some good night sky photography here. It’s dark!

Stayed May 23, 2025We couldn’t have chosen a better place for our Big Bend getaway. The cabin is about 1/2 hour from the Starlight Theatre, Terlingua Ghost Town, and the nearest gas pump, and roughly 45 min from the park entrance, easy drives since you get to enjoy the scenary. If you run low on ice, beer, or snacks, the Little Burro Country Store is practically around the corner. We saw other spots that seemed tight and too close with other rentals, this one feels pleasantly isolated. It’s just off the highway, but traffic is so light, especially after dark..that the night sky turns into a private planetarium. We spent evenings on both the front and back porches, grilling up dinners and shooting cans with the BB rifle. The AC kept the inside chill, the shower got hot fast. We still stuck to quick rinses to save water. Perfect for 2 people. Remote enough for silence and stars, close enough for convenience. Exactly what we were hoping for.

Stayed Apr 1, 2025We rented this property to be close to Big Bend NP. It wasn’t that close and it wasn’t near other services as well. I should have known better. I think the property was accurately described; I was just too optimistic that it would be more convenient than it was.

Stayed Mar 2, 2022We weren't expecting much, but yet we were still disappointed. Water is non-potable, so bring what you need. There is no hot water at the sink in the WC; only hot water is at the shower, so if you want hot water with which to shave or clean, you have to go to shower and bring it back to the sink - shower and sink are in different rooms. Also, there is a sign to not put ANY paper in toilet. This reminded us of our trips to Russia and other 3rd world locations. Cooking is only by microwave, and there is no place to sit and eat unless you go outside or carry the tablethat is outsid night sky, however, is truly amazing, and fortunately the traffic zooming by is mostly done by 10pm. We survived and made the best of it, but never again.

Stayed Apr 19, 2026Pam was the best. Before we arrived she gave great hiking tips for BBNP and lots of info on the area around the cabin. The cabin was everything we needed to explore the area. It was clean and comfortable. If you need extra supplies, you can find the a mile to the south at the Little Burro Country Store. The night sky is unbelievable!!!!

Stayed Mar 25, 2026No cell signal but fast internet. I loved sitting on the porch either watching the sparse traffic or in the back watching the sunset. This has the amenities of a hotel room but with much more character. There’s a fridge and microwave, but not much space, and you have to bring your own drinking water. The national park and any restaurant was farther away than I expected so plan ahead! Communication was great with the owner. It certainly has its drawbacks but the character made up for it. 5 stars!

Stayed Nov 27, 2025Great communication, excellent instructions on how to find the cabin. She answered all my questions about logistics and needing to bring water. Pam even checked area restaurants for us to find out if they were opened on Thanksgiving. Cabin was challenging to find after dark when we returning to be out for the day. Comfortable bed, great hot shower!

Stayed Oct 22, 2025We would definitely stay here again. It’s a good location, not too far away from town or the national park but still secluded enough to enjoy the skies. Compared to other choices in this price range I would recommend this location given it has an attached private shower with hot water. The hosts are very accommodating and fast to reply. We stopped into the store to grab some lunch supplies and they were all friendly and helpful. If I had to leave some constructive feedback I’d say the bed is a pretty springy but again at this price I don’t think you could beat the comfort. Also recommend downloading maps so you have access offline and arriving while there is still daylight the first day. It says there is a light on the road to mark the driveway but the second night we came back after dark and had to turn around 3 times before we found it because there as not a light that could be seen from the road. All in all a great stay and I wish we had more time here.

Stayed May 3, 2025The bed was probably the most comfortable I'd slept in on my trip. Didn't like not having hot water in the wash basin. Hard to shave in a shower. A little bit futher from Big Bend than I thought.

Stayed Apr 25, 2025It was a bit of a disappointment to learn that the water was not drinkable when we sadly realized that 2 days into our stay! Also, I think it may be helpful to list that there no stove or that there are no pots to cook on the grill. We did enjoy our stay, and we did not leave a tip for Sandy who came by to clean when we were leaving. How can we do that for her???

Stayed Dec 16, 2024I thought this was a renovated building but it looks like all new construction to me. Must be good on the insulation cuz it never got cold. Even when it was 33 outside. Small inside heater does just fine. Not hard at all to find. Little burro store is a mile down the rrroad and it could be found on GPS Garmin

Stayed Nov 19, 2024We had a really great time staying at this property. Although there are some quirks, it is fully explained on the listing and in the communications. We used to be RVers so we understand having to adjust to different situations. The only thing I would note is that if you have the room heater on, plus the water heater and then try to use the microwave, you might trip the breaker. The cabin is decorated really nice and the outside porches and firepit are great. It always takes a while to get used to a different bed, especially a bouncy one, but we did! We loved our stay and would do it again.
