MOSQUITOES (Summer Months)
During the summer months, mosquitoes can be present, especially in the evenings.
To be prepared:
* Bring or purchase insect repellent
* Consider wearing long sleeves or pants in the evenings
* Citronella candles or similar deterrents can help outdoors
To help keep them out of the house:
* Keep doors closed as much as possible
* Be mindful when going in and out, especially at dusk
* Ensure window screens remain closed and intact
PARKING, TRAILERS, and WINTER CONDITIONS
The property offers parking, including space for larger vehicles and trailers. However, if you plan to bring a trailer during the winter months, please be aware that conditions can change quickly.
This area can receive significant snowfall in a short period of time (sometimes 12+ inches within 24 hours), often combined with strong winds that create drifting. While roads are regularly plowed, crews can become delayed during heavy storms.
All-wheel drive (AWD) or 4-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles are strongly recommended during winter months.
If you choose to bring a trailer in winter, please do so at your own discretion, as we cannot guarantee access or maneuverability during severe weather events.
Entryways and decks may be snowy or slippery. Use caution when walking—appropriate winter footwear is recommended
WEATHER & ELEVATION
Aspen & Pine sits at approximately 7,000 feet in elevation, where weather conditions can be unpredictable year-round.
We recommend arriving prepared with appropriate clothing and being ready for changing mountain conditions.
COOLING THE SPACE
Aspen & Pine does not have central air conditioning - which is common for cabins in this area. That said, the mountain climate makes it comfortable most of the summer. Evenings cool down significantly, typically dropping to 40F in June, upper 40s to low 50s F in July, and mid to upper 40s F in August.
To stay comfortable use the portable fans. Open bedroom windows at night to bring in the cool mountain air. Create a cross-breeze (open windows on opposite sides), and close windows and blinds during the day if it gets warm.
WILDLIFE & NATURE
Aspen & Pine is located in a forest setting that opens up onto a meadow, which means you may occasionally encounter local wildlife—both large and small. While we have regular pest control service, it’s not uncommon for the occasional insect (such as spiders, flies, ants, or wasps) or small critter to make an appearance.
This is part of the natural mountain environment, and we appreciate your understanding that refunds will not be issued for these types of encounters.
