We are always improving for guests ~ Mach 2026 adding a new gas grill for outdoor cooking, but guests who want to be old school can still use the swivel fire pit to cook over wood or charcoal. The covered porch is perfect for hanging out in all weather with sliding cushioned rocker for morning coffee/tea or late night star gazing and picnic table for meals or charcuterie spread.

Recently renovated to add a master bath, laundry room, and create a kid friendly indoor treehouse out of attic storage space in the bedrooms, Mountain Grove is relaxing and fun during the fall, winter, spring or summer. Located in the heart of Laurel Highlands in a little neighborhood of Conservation Civilian Corps cabins less than one mile from Kooser State Park and nestled between Hidden Valley, Seven Springs and Laurel Mountain ski resorts, this family and pet friendly cabin in the woods has everything you need to enjoy an outdoor getaway. Travelers have enjoyed this cozy home in the mountains as a solo rejuvenating escape for 1, getaway for 2, a family vacation, or a get together with friends/extended family.

Nearby attractions include hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, golfing, star gazing, bird watching, cave exploring, restaurants, spas, amusement parks, a zoo, go carts and more. Enjoy the many trails and ponds nearby at Kooser (2 minute drive), Laurel Hill (7 minute drive) or Forbes (12 minute drive) State Parks. Bike the GAP trail at Rockwood just 15 minutes away. Check out the local resorts for food, golf, spas, ziplines, mountain biking, special events, skiing and more at Hidden Valley (5 minute drive), Seven Springs (17 minute drive), or Laurel Mountain (30 minute drive). Peruse the local towns of Somerset (15 minute drive), Ligonier (30 minute drive) or Ohiopyle (34 minute drive) for restaurants, shopping, white water rafting and trails. Local attractions also include Idlewild, Caddyshack, Living Treasures Animal Park, Laurel Caverns, Jennerstown Speedway, Fort Ligonier and more! Glade Pike Winery tasting room is just up the road with live music on Saturday nights as well. Check out laurelhighlands.com for more ideas.

Even though you will feel like you are in the middle of the woods in a peaceful setting, if you forget anything a gas station/convenience store is only a 2 minute drive away and a grocery store is only a 20 minute drive away. Once you settle in, you will enjoy a cozy, traditional cabin in the woods with spacious front deck, outdoor combo bonfire/grill (Charcoal or wood for cooking or simply relaxing. One bundle of wood is provided to start your vacation, but there are places nearby to purchase charcoal or more wood.), gas fireplace, and indoor treehouse for kids ideally ages 6 - 12.

Kids love climbing the stairs next to the tree mural because it feels like they are climbing into an indoor treehouse with repurposed wood accents on the walls. As you walk in, you will see a mini window above the kitchen area, so adults in the kitchen or living room downstairs can hear the kiddos playing upstairs or opt to close the window so the kids can sleep while parents still hang out downstairs. The creates a fun, spacious cabin for families.

Excellent WiFi service will help you stay connected to friends, family, and work (Gasp! Only if necessary...you should be relaxing!) or allow you to finally binge watch that series you always wanted to see.

A variety of games, cornhole on the front deck or in the yard, and the bonfire pit that can be used as a grill with wood or charcoal will help you stay entertained and unplug from screens too!

3 bedrooms and 2 baths accommodates a maximum of 8 people and 2 well behaved, house trained dogs. There is an additional $30 per night pet fee when fur family joins you at the cabin. Please be sure to check the pet box when booking to pay during your reservation, or you will need to pay it before your arrival.

If you have additional people or pets in your party, please message to inquire about also renting Blue Mountain Retreat (with terraced backyard including hot tub, bonfire circle, picnic table and gas grill also accommodating up to 8 people. See vrbo.com/3579454 ) adjacent to Mountain Grove. Multiple families have enjoyed renting both cabins for relaxing family reunions or birthday celebrations.

The location off of 31 makes it easily accessible year round, but far enough off the road to be peacefully tucked in the woods. A limit of 3 cars per cabin has to be maintained because there is no overflow parking available nearby (AWD or 4WD vehicles during the winter months of snow are required for ease of access). Visitors should be accounted for in your reservation.

We cannot wait to host you! Feel free to reach out with any questions about additional attractions or inquiries.

The amenities were wonderful and the host was very receptive. We had the very minor misfortune of loosing power while we were there but the host was very responsive and coordinated with us very quickly. The power came on a couple of hours later and we had flashlights with us so we were fine overall. The host checked in on us and made sure we were ok during the outage. We had snow our last day and the kids Really enjoyed the snow molding toys available at the cabin.

This home was perfect for us 4 ladies. We all had our own sleeping space and enough room for all our stuff. Our one friend like the closeness of the park which she was able to walk to. This home was perfect for our annual hiking trip. Its also close to so much that we wanted to experience. i.e. Falling Water and Ligonier.

We loved our time at Mountain Grove! Lisa is a great host and provided lots of tips before we arrived on things to do and places to eat. Her recommendations were great and we found a couple of new places that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. The house is wonderful and fit our family of 5 very well. My kids (ages 4, 7, and 9) loved the treehouse! It was the perfect place for them to hang out when we were at the house. The house was cozy and had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay.Mountain Grove is also in a great location. We did a different activity each day of our trip and were able to get to all of the activities we wanted to do in southwest PA in hour or less. We HIGHLY recommend this house and will definitely stay here agin!

Our family loved staying in this house, it’s far enough out of town yet close enough to everything. My kids LOVED the indoor tree house and didn’t want to be anywhere else. The property owner was absolutely amazing, so attentive and helpful. She gave several different suggestions of things to do and see in the area.

We booked this to be near where our family grew up and also near great hiking trails. It worked out very well. The cabin was spacious and well appointed, providing everything we needed. Coffee on the front porch in the mornings was heaven. Unfortunately the weather didn’t let us use the fire pit, but it is a nice spot and would have been great if it stopped raining. We were really close to a lovely winery, ski resorts, a local dairy with fantastic ice cream, and a town close by with good eating options. I particularly liked the Mexican restaurant. Great hiking at several state parks was really close. While the cabin is one floor, there is a large step down into the living room and one bathroom. Doesn’t detract from the charm of the place, but if you have small children or older family members, it’s something to be aware of. We thought this place was great and would stay again!

My family enjoyed our stay at Mountain Grove immensely. I brought a lot of extra supplies along that I didn't really need because it was well provided for with the everyday necessities. I appreciated that. Also, my 4 year old grandson loved all the games and books on site, and he loved playing in the loft. With a fair amount of rain over the weekend keeping us indoors he was able to keep himself entertained. The cabin is very kid-friendly. Thank you for the memories!

Very nice mountain cabin. Clean and well maintained.. Spacious great room with wonderful big windows for lots of natural light. Ample front porch to enjoy and be sheltered from the elements. We had some rain and were still able to have morning coffee and evening meals out of doors. Easy access to the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail at the Rockwood trailhead. Also quite close to Kooser and Laurel Mountain state parks. Moo Echo Dairy market is close by; general store with yummy homemade ice cream.

My husband and I really enjoyed the cabin and nearby outdoor activities (hiking and kayaking). A wonderful host and amenities. It was a great location to meet our adult children who live in Pittsburgh and Columbus, OH. I'm sure the location/neighborhood is better for winter activities. We'd definitely consider coming back if we rented both houses owned by the host.

I decided to get out of the NC heat and decided to spend 3 weeks in PA’s Laurel Highlands. The decision was a good one given the access to a wide variety of outdoor activities. As a base of operation I wanted a place that was quaint, rustic, and slightly off the beaten path with modern conveniences and connectivity. Mountain Grove checked all the boxes. The kitchen was well equipped and the internet was excellent. It would be a great place to work remotely Then there is Lisa, the owner/host. I have stayed at VRBOs all over the country and have never had a host as conscientious, responsive or as pleasant. She’s a gem. Obviously I highly recommend the Highlands and I couldn’t be more superlative about Mountain Grove

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Mountain Grove. The location was great in that we did not have to drive very far with three small kids in the car to get to activities or restaurants nearby. The kids also LOVED the tree house and spent a lot of time playing up there. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, which we appreciated. Some things we would have liked to know prior to booking were: the proximity to other cabins - this is more of a small development type setting and there are a few cabins very close by. Also, the grill is a grate over a fire pit. Enough firewood is provided for one use and after that you will need to purchase other wood nearby. Lastly, the road turning into and out of the development is very bumpy and if you have a car (and not a truck or SUV) you may scrape the bottom of your vehicle on the roadway due to the big dip in the road.

This location was great. We easily traveled to Ohiopyle, Laurel Caverns and the 9/11 memorial, but were off the beaten path. The house was wonderful. My 11 y/o son only left the treehouse for meals and if we were leaving the house. Such a cute little space for the kids. The house had room to spread out, and a nice living room to pile up in for a movie. Host is wonderful. Very quick to respond to questions. We followed some of her recommendations and fell in love with the store (Moo Echo) and restaurant (Brady’s) she recommended. Great stay. We were comfortable and had lots of fun. Thanks, Lisa!
