The space
The Chalet is a small cabin, just 400 sq ft per floor. It is an independant home and is powered by solar energy. The inside is DIY finished with repurposed materials. Only the appliances are new.
This two-story cabin has 2 bedrooms upstairs with a double bed in each, no doors, and a desk in the hall. The entry level has a kitchenette, bathroom, dining area and common area with a hide-a-bed in the sitting room. It is heated with a woodstove; firewood, cable TV, and Wi-Fi are provided.

Guest access
There is plenty of parking, with a carport for smaller vehicles. You are welcome to walk down the road, and tour our property. We have a berry farm and U-Pick berries starting in late June as well as a grocery garden, and a path through our wooded area. A large communal fire pit is located behind our retail shack where Hoh Made Jam, Native Hoh River Smoked Salmon, and local arts and crafts are available.
Other things to note
Access to the upper floor is via a spiral staircase. If you have small children or do not do stairs easily, this may not be for you.
Pets are allowed, but they may not be left unattended.

Hoh Chalet is hands down the most unusual place we have stayed -- a cozy, environmentally friendly cabin made from repurposed materials to create a delightfully artistic space. Some would say funky. There is a fairly steep spiral staircase to the bedrooms which could be a challenge for some. It is super convenient to the Hoh Rain Forest and not far from the Kalaloch Lodge restaurant if you want to eat out. The kitchen is fully equipped for in-house meals. With just a one-night stay, we did not have enough time to enjoy the beautiful garden patio area.

It was cute and quirky and quiet. Had everything needed and host was very nice. The water pressure was pretty poor and made it hard to get a good shower. Also make sure to bring food as there is no stores or restaurants close.

Very cute place, and host was very nice but water heater didn't work properly which led to freezing showers. The bed was so creaky that it woke up everyone when someone moved. Was woken at 5 in the morning from large trucks using engine breaks since it's right next to the road.

The chalet is so unique and has lots of charme. Though the queen bed was a bit squeaky, all beds were comfortable and we had a good sleep. The property is beautiful and the host was very friendly. She checked in on us on the first day. The little shed shop is filled with goodies and we just had to take some jellies home. The chalet is only 7 minutes from Ruby Beach, 30 min to Forks, and about 40 from Hoh Rainforest. We had a nice stay and would recommend it. We would suggest to bring your groceries if you don’t want to make the drive to Forks. The Kalaloch Lodge restaurant is the closest one, but is on the expensive side and the food was only okay.

Quirky and memorable! Friendly and hospitable host. Comfortable beds with clean bedding and ample extra blankets. Spiral stairs were no joke—we descended backwards like a ladder. No microwave, but a full stove, so we had what we needed. Energy-efficient, so lighting was quite dark in the bathroom, but it wasn’t a problem. Very close to Ruby Beach and easy access to Hoh Rainforest. Great for our one-night stay!

We were so comfortable. What a charming and interesting place built creatively and artistically from repurposed materials! The wood stove was easy to run and very effective. We were excited to see that the solar power worked really well, runs the lights and refrigerator. The propane stovetop worked great. The spiral staircase was well designed and with lots of perfectly placed handles and banisters. Beds were comfortable with plenty of nice blankets. We hope to come back and stay longer on future trips.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Hoh Chalet cabin! From the moment we arrived, it felt like a peaceful retreat tucked right into nature. The cabin was spotless, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The setting is truly special—quiet, private, and surrounded by lush greenery. It’s the perfect home base for exploring the nearby Hoh Rain Forest, yet cozy enough that you’ll want to spend time just relaxing on the property. We loved unwinding in the evenings, listening to the sounds of nature and enjoying the fresh forest air.The interior was warm and inviting, with comfortable furnishings and charming rustic touches that made it feel both authentic and luxurious. The attention to detail really stood out, and it was clear that a lot of care has gone into making guests feel welcome. If you’re looking for a serene getaway near Olympic National Park, we can’t recommend the Hoh Chalet cabin highly enough.

This is a unique property and one of the few available in this area with easy access to Olympics hiking trails. I salute the owner for her work to create this cabin using recycled, repurposed and natural items. The use of solar and wood-fired heating are so suitable for this natural oasis. The on-demand water heater was a surprisingly modern element. We appreciated the huge dispenser of bottled spring water. Owner Dianne greeted us upon arrival and even offered to share a salmon caught by la local tribal fisherman.

Charming property--very nice proprieter. . .(sp?). . .comfortable little house w full kitchen. Very near Ruby Beach so we could go watch the sunset on that lovely beach. . .A plus for me was there were two dogs and two cats on the property but not near our rental hut. But I could go visit them. . .Be aware the spiral stairs to second floor are not for everyone but the two bedrooms on second floor were cozy and with great lighting for reading. Altogether a charming stay.

Death trap! Driving up, this home appears to be in a junkyard. The first thing we noticed upon walking in was a strong smell of mold and cigarettes. The lights looked to be DIY, daisy-chained across the ceiling with electrical wires exposed. That's a major fire and electrocution risk. The spiral stairs were perilously narrow with a loose hand rail, so add in a fall risk. The master bed was right in front of a sliding glass door to a porch with no curtains or blinds. No privacy. This whole house felt like a DIY project, which was especially scary knowing it had exposed wires and a propane tank. The house was unlocked with open windows when we got there, with quite a few doors and hiding places for a human or critter. We were terrified to stay here, and we left after about a few minutes for the nearest hotel. The host did come out to greet us politely, but stood between us and our child so there was no way we were going to confront her there. No response from the host when we requested a refund.

This rustic property is completely off the grid. Solar panels provide power for D/C lights that are a bit dim. The only source of heat is a wood burning stove and wood is provided. The steep circular staircase could be bit of a challenge to those with mobility issues, especially at night to access the bathroom. Diane is a lovely host and an excellent communicator. The home is very clean and the location is convenient to the Rain Forest entrance. This is NOT a negative review. We very much enjoyed our stay. It is simply a heads up to future renters.

Diane's cabin is amazing, so much artistic love went into its construction. She did beautiful tiling in the bathroom and around the woodstove, built a fantastic spiral stair (narrow, but very well banistered, so quite manageable even for these grandparents), and has a lovely little garden. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfortable and everything a pleasure to look at. We would definitely come again. The woodstove was well supplied, effiecient, and easy to use.

Stay at the Hoh Chalet was lovely. The space was very clean and when we needed something for dishes, Diane provided it quickly. The stairs going upstairs are very narrow and the hand rails were rickety and wobbly. The wood stove warmed pretty well but we literally had to stay on it nearly non stop to keep the house warm. We woke up freezing both days as it was in the 30s outside and smowing. I would stay here again in the summer for sure The wood stive worked

Had a wonderful stay. Low water pressure is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars, and the owner mentioned she is working on getting that resolved. Bedrooms are actually a loft with an attached room (no doors). We didn't realize that from the listing, so just figured I'd mention it.

This is the perfect cozy cabin getaway. Diane has built a beautiful handcrafted chalet right in the heart of the Hoh, less than 10min from scenic Ruby Beach. We loved the wood stove and the mossy trails on the property. It was perfect for a year-end retreat. Our doggo was having the time of his life too, playing with the thoughtful pet toys available. Definitely check out the shop - we picked up some tasty local jam. Thanks Diane!!

She met us upon check-in to answer questions and make sure that we knew how to work the stove, etc., and was available if we had any questions. The home has everything that you need, and it is just a short drive away from Ruby Beach, where there is a camp store where you can get supplies. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!

Adorable little chalet just perfect for a couple day getaway. Fair warning, the stairs up to the bedrooms are steep & narrow and the only source of heat is the wood burning stove, but neither of these things took away anything from our stay!
