Jasper, Arkansas
The Homestead Farmhouse was built by Alonzo and Ersie Spencer. They raised a family with six children in this home that was built during the depression using lumber taken from trees on the property. Through the years it has been modernized. I am the their granddaughter and I used it for an art studio and gallery until the summer of 2015. I totally remodeled and updated the interior. There is a large new kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower featuring handprinted tiles. There is energy efficient heating and cooling. There is a wonderful large porch on the front. A remnant of early times, the root cellar is in back of the house. The smoke house is no longer standing. There are two ponds on the property and a wooded 40 acres to explore. The Homestead has the added convenience of not being on a dirt road. For this reason it is perfect for motorcycles. The location is about half way between Jasper and Ponca. It is close to Buffalo river access and hiking trails.
We had a lovely time. Great location of the property.
Great location and stay.
Really scenic drive up to the property.
We had a great time here. There was great access to multiple parks and hikes on the Buffalo. Our dogs really enjoyed the fields next door as well as the fact that they got to stay with us 24/7. We had a great time!
Location was good for our hikes we went on. Place is rustic but was good for a couple of days. The owner was fantastic to work with
It was more outdated than we expected but overall nice. We enjoyed our stay.
Great property, that is right off the road and close to many hiking trails. Very easy to find and we had a great visit. The property was clean but did have some pet hair so if you have allergies be aware.
We enjoyed our stay. Communication with property owner was excellent. Great location with many activities nearby.
Love it!
I would rent again if windows in sink window and bathroom window had covering on them.Am just a little un easy about someone in woods can see straight into house
Wonderfully decorated, quaint house. We had a great time relaxing.
Cozy cabin very close to climbing- was great!
We enjoyed our stay. The renovated farmhouse was perfect for the two of us. Even though we were near a highway we didn't hear highway noise except for the occasional motorcycle. Location was great for a quick trip in to Jasper to the grocery store / Ozark Cafe and a short distance from seeing elk at Boxley valley.
Love the property. This is our 2nd time staying here...so peaceful...love Jasper...Already looking to book next trip.
This was the worst vrbo I have ever stayed at! Problems right from the start before we even left! For 1 we didn't stay in the house tagged by the website! She made a mistake and double booked it, so she had to put us into another 1 she owns. Which sucked for various reasons! We booked the home and thought all would be good, but no a few hours later we got a message saying there were issues which caused us alot of unneeded stress! Upon calling it took hours (and this was hours of stress as we were only 3 days away from leaving for the trip) for her to call back. This was a motorcycle trip, the initial home we booked had a nice flat drive way, but we couldnt have that home because of mistakes on the owner's behalf! The home she put us in had a very steep decapitating driveway with a turn and a huge pot hole in said turn too boot! Highly not recommended for motorcycles! Especially if your a newer rider! No flat surfaces on the property! No good places to park your bike or a trailer! We made do, but it was ruff! The house reeked of mold! To the point of noses burning and coughing fits! Therefore we spent most of our time outside! As we couldnt stand being in the house! It's quite obvious why its smelled of mold so bad with all the water damage in the ceilings! In the kitchen the dryway was litterlly hanging down from all the moisture! Water stains, the floor showed stains as well from the lack of attention and cleaning. The maintenance guy came on monday fully aware of the problem. Why was this rented out knowing about these issues? Obviously the owner was fully aware! I then had to deal with the maintenance man! Who didnt fix it during our stay! I informed him we would be gone all day and to please go ahead and fix it however he did not! The air conditioning went out on the second day of our stay we woke up hot and sweaty! For someone prone to migraines, with sleep being a hug factor in those migraines this was terrible! Ruined the entire days plans! The owner couldnt get anyone to fix it until 7pm it was 95 degrees out! The grass during the majority of our stay was knee high! The bugs were crazy probably because of the over grown grass! We were afraid to walk the property over fear of snakes being in the tall grass. We booked the place for a week the grass was finally cut the day before we left, they came early! Woke us up! Again another disturbed sleepless morning. Again for some one with migraines this was terrible! Another lost day on our t
Property has everything you need. Cafe, groceries, and gasoline located 5 miles east in Jasper. Camp store, fuel and hiking info 14 miles west in Ponco. Beautiful area and quietness all around. Great WiFi and washer/dryer. Mid-June canoeing comes to a halt in this area so had to go to St Joe which was 1.25 hours away. Otherwise a great stay and very relaxing.
Great place to stay. Clean, big kitchen and best nights sleep. The bed that great! Wi-Fi is a big plus!
The perfect little cabin for relaxing and enjoying the Jasper BNR area. Host was super easy to communicate with and everything met our expectations.
My Husband and I stayed for our anniversary and loved the farm house. We will be back for sure. :)
Right off of the road. Nearby floating options and good hiking day trips. ample space for 4 adults. cooling units were appreciated during the hot days.
The property was exactly as described on the VRBO site. Very comfortable and worked perfectly for us.
We stayed 4 nights. The farmhouse has so many original features— doors, door and window frames, wood floors. It reminded me of my grandpa’s farmhouse. The updated kitchen and bathroom were nice. Location was good— 10 minutes from Jasper, and many hiking trails within 30-40 minutes. King size bed was comfy, as was the loveseat when we spent one rainy day bingeing Netflix. The location was so peaceful! It was the most relaxing getaway we had had in a couple of years.
My wife and I decided to get away for a long weekend and this place was great for that!
