Step back to a simpler time in this historic ranch-style log cabin. It was built by a carpenter in the late 1940s with trees from the property. The hickory wood floors are original. We have intentionally kept the décor vintage. Our rustic cabin has a lot of character, making your experience unique. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway, family bonding/memories, a trip to rejuvinate or escape the Phoenix heat or play in the snow!

Take in the views of the pond and wildlife from the living room, bedroom, or large, covered porch. Wake up in the morning, brew some coffee, breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature while swaying on the front porch swing. Venture out to the swing next to the pond for a more up close view of pond life. Explore the beautiful property, including the winding creek. Take a 5-minute walk to the nearby hiking trail. Make memories, sitting around the fire pit at night roasting marshmallows, telling stories, and singing songs. Look up and gaze at the majesty of the stars in the White Mountains night sky.

This is a rare piece of property in Pinetop and is super close to restaurants (The Pasta House is walking distance), Eddie's Country Store, Safeway, shopping, and conveniences. Hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and golf are a few miles away. Skiing at Sunrise Park Resort is a 35-minute drive. https://www.sunrise.ski/

There is a three-night minimum for Christmas and New Years weeks.

There is plenty to do at the cabin but there is so much more to do just a short walk or drive away. Enjoy the White Mountains and our Little Cabin in the Big Woods! We believe you will leave feeling refreshed and peaceful, having made priceless memories.

Four-wheel drive (4WD) is recommended during the winter.

We really enjoyed spending time on this property! Loved the front porch! We saw 4 deer, many birds and squirrels. Wonderful host, excellent communication, and they made a lovely binder of information on history of the property and what to do and see on your visit. Darbi's cafe and The Pasta House are a must! It's off the road enough, however you could still hear some traffic and a tavern close by that plays live music, but it didn't go too late. The cabin floors are somewhat unlevel, so someone with those types of challenges (balance, vertigo etc) may be affected. The furniture, even though fitting with the host's vintage decor theme (which we loved), is a little uncomfortable and needs to be refreshed for support. For anyone with bad knees, I believe the toilets are the 12 to 13 in height. Overkill with the cobwebs and found a can of soda between the bedroom window and the blinds. The deep soaking jetted tub is wonderful, the kitchen has everything you need. It is so dark and peaceful at night, the sky is amazing! Beautiful property. Perfect anniversary weekend!

The cabin and surroundings were just what we needed; serene, beautiful nature, comfortable...we never wanted to leave the property. Also, this was the most well supplied vacation home we've ever visited. That made the trip even more relaxing. A great place to get away to, relax and renew.

For those who cherish the quiet days when you could read, do crossword puzzles, and commune with nature this is a great retreat. It is close to some nice restaurants in Pinetop, Az. The cabin has a lot of family history and is a little bit like stepping back in time although it has all the modern conveniences and makes you feel immediately comfortable.

This space is amazing! It is definitely a little cabin the woods, but it has big personality. A group of friends wanted time and space to decompress from life's stressors as well as getting to actually get together in one location and hang out. The cabin had all the creature comforts that we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy our time, which is appreciated. Our trip was during the little storm of March 2025, but we were tucked snug in the cabin as it was incredibly well stocked with towels, plethora of bedding and pillows. We were a bit slow to grab wood and bring it to the porch area. Good thing the cabin, though feels secluded, is near the town and all the stores and we were able to buy some stacks. Though the cabin is covered well with central heating and cooling system, we wanted the ambiance of the fireplace. The reason why I gave this 4 stars (though if I could I would give it 4.5) is only because the beds were super hard. Which it could every well just been us. If you like a bit more give I would say bring a topper as the duvers just don't seem to be enough. Again, my back is messed up so it could just be me.

I cannot say enough kind words about this cabin and the owners. My husband and I spent 3 days at this wonderful cabin! The weather was beautiful and we spent most of our time on the covered patio. The level of communication from the owners was supreme! I’ve stayed in a few VRBO’s but this is one of my favorites. Location, location, location ... as they say ... and this property has definitely got that going for it. The cabin sits on 3.4 acres of prime real estate ... pine trees, pond, small stream, fire pit ... kind of feels like camping with a cabin. As for the cabin, I believe the VRBO description uses the word Historic. I would say rustic, while my wife would say dated. The cabin structure was built by hand in the 1940-50's. Impressive on one hand, but also rustic (or dated) on the other hand. I did mark cleanliness down, as when we arrived the exterior/porch coul have used a good cleaning (leaves, pine needles, cob webs, bugs, etc). This was easily resolved by us as cleaning tools/supplies were available on property. BTW, I did speak to the owner/property manager about first impressions, so hopefully the cleanliness will not be an issue going forward. Lastly, I would stay here again in the future. As for my wife, she would like to see many updates before returning.

Secluded but convenient. The cabin is charming and loaded with an amazing family history. Outdoors is magnificent. My kids and I spent most of our time outdoors at the pond catching crawdads and enjoying the scenery. We enjoyed every second and are sad to be leaving. Owners are wonderful and kind. Very helpful.

The property is exactly as described and absolutely fantastic! We stayed for a week to get away from the heat in the valley. Definitely a rustic cabin but with all the convenient modern amenities. Kitchen is fully stocked with all necessary cookware and the grill was great to use. Best part of the property is the large covered deck with picnic table and two swinging benches. We sat out most days and played games, read a book or just watched nature. The sunset on the small pond is beautiful and we took some beautiful family pictures. Just one FYI, I am 6’ 2” and when taking a shower my head was brushing the ceiling. Again, think rustic cabin… if you happen to be taller you may be just a bit hunched over to use the shower. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet stay in the mountains.
