First off, we really wanted to like this place, but we had a few issues when we arrived. We actually stayed here because we were looking at similar properties in the area over the weekend. The house was not very clean throughout, i.e. stains in the toilets, bathtubs and sinks, dead bugs, rat droppings and noticeable stains on every cloth piece of furniture. It looked like it hadn’t been lived in for a while. There was no instruction book that you normally have at rental properties. The biggest issues we had were that the dishwasher didn’t work and the roof leaked overnight which left water on and around the dining area table and on our son’s laptop. There’s a nice water cooler by the back door, but the only problem is that it is empty and unplugged. The shower in the first-floor bathroom didn’t disengage, so you couldn’t give the kids a bath. The toilet constantly ran, no matter what you did to stop it. There were noticeable stains on rugs and the stairs and carpets going upstairs hadn’t been vacuumed. There were dense cobwebs throughout the living area ceiling. Granted, it is a cabin and has a wood burning fireplace, but the smell of soot was overpowering at times. There were other issues I won’t list. Because of everything, we decided to cut our stay by a night and head back home. To be fair, the host responded quickly to the dishwasher and toilet issue and even refunded us one night of our planned stay. With a little more tender love and care this place could be amazing.
