Incredible property, much a pleasant surprise to find all the modern amenities in a rustic looking cabin. The solitude and sounds of nature were amazing. Only issues were that the master mattress is too soft for my liking. The road is difficult in a Mini Cooper, but has ample warning about this. The directions were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
An absolutely stunning log home set in a surrounding that is surreal. Creek beside is music to the ears and acreage surrounding you is beautiful. This is certainly a nature lover’s paradise. Our dogs absolutely loved it. Will definitely return as well as recommend to friends and family that cherish the great outdoors.
If you want to relax and reconnect with nature this us the place to be. We had such an amazing time with our fur baby hiking and listening to the beautiful music from the creek. Would highly recommend.
The negative comments would be bedroom carpet was soiled and needs replaced. Cabin is very dark. Fireplace chimney needs cleaned. Silverware in kitchen is very cheap. Soap provided for bathrooms was inadequate. Too remote for us. Signage to air plane crash, etc. needs improvement. Positive comments would be beautiful, peaceful property. Loved all the waterfalls and beautiful flowering bushes.
We had such a fabulous New Year's and 1st anniversary get away in this cabin!!! The cabin was simple and just perfect for us and the property couldn't have been more gorgeous -- listening to Huffman Creek tumble below, watching the wind in the trees, hiking the beautiful trails on the property. We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back!
The property was absolutely amazing and the views/hikes were breath taking. We met one of the keepers, Frank, and the owner, Robin, while out walking our dog. They were so kind and friendly. We could tell by the way they spoke of property how much they loved it. I could not have asked for a more peaceful and perfect vacation spot.
We loved this cabin. So inviting and the property was gorgeous. A few things people should be prepared for: it is hard to find your way around at first. Recommend getting there in daylight. The roads are bumpy and 129 is very difficult to stomach if it's on your route?. The wifi internet situation is not great. HOWEVER, this place is totally worth it if you're looking for beauty and seclusion. We wanted to stay forever. Frank the caretaker was very helpful and kind.
This is a nice little getaway cabin. I loved the sound of the creek on the property and the comfortable bed upstairs. It’s away from everything which I enjoyed. The only drawback was the fact that the fireplace, which is listed under amenities, doesn’t come with firewood. I contacted the owner and he was willing to have some sent over for a fee. I payed PLENTY of money for the rental so I felt like that wasn’t very awesome. Other than that it’s a great cabin.
This lovely cabin was a delightful retreat for us. We love to hike in the Joyce Kilmer/ Slickrock Wilderness, and it was easily accessible from this very remote cabin. The land is thoughtfully developed by a family, with several cabins of different sizes. We retraced some of our favorite hikes (Hangover Lead, Naked Ground trail) and discovered new hikes-including Shuckstack Mountain and the fire tower-up from Fontana Dam. We explored some of the hikes off of the Cherohala Skyway, too. The property itself also has trails.
If you want to be Off The Grid this is the place for you. Very Remote. No Cell service. No Internet service. Difficult road to the house. Cleanliness was sub par. However, if you want to be off the grid that might be ok with you. Pay attention to RETREAT in the name!! We stayed one night of our scheduled 6.
We enjoyed the location of this cabin. Great area to hike and a beautiful creek right out the front door. I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness of the cabin. The upstairs carpet was filthy and the furniture smelled of smoke from the wood fire place. The smell penetrated our clothing upon return home -even after washing while at cabin. Location was beautiful but would expect a bit cleaner environment for the money we paid
