Luray, Virginia
Nestled into a hill on the banks of the Shenandoah River, this cabin was purpose-built for river-side vacations. You can relax and chat with friends on the screened-in porch or roast marshmallows around the nearby fire pit while listening to the river in the background. Stacked, dried firewood is available for you to use for a small fee. Inside, you'll find a fully-equipped kitchen that flows into the dining area and living room complete with satellite and cable TV and a gas fireplace. From the cozy living area, you have a wonderful view of the yard and river through the beautiful window wall. Rest up from a day of enjoying the great outdoors in one of the three comfortable bedrooms or in a chair on the large deck overlooking the river. The cabin also features wood flooring and trim, a cathedral ceiling in the living area, and tile floors in the modern, fully-furnished bathrooms. Outside, there's a gas grill for grilling hamburgers, a huge open yard, and - did we mention - the riverbank so you can wade right out or take the canoes out with ease.

Because of the remote nature of the cabin, the internet is provided by a satellite provider. Because of this, video streaming is not possible without severely impacting the data cap for the month. If you stream video, the internet will most likely be cut off during your stay.
PLEASE NOTE: The optional firewood charge of $12/night is for firewood for the outdoor fire pit. (The indoor fireplace at this property is gas.) If you don't think you will use the firewood or would like to bring your own, please let us know! We are more than happy to refund that to you.
Also, please note: No parties, events, or gatherings of guests that are not included in the reservation are allowed at Green Castle.
The base rate includes 5 people. Additional guests are extra, please read the itemized charges carefully and make sure to make your reservation for the correct number of guests that will be staying. Thank you!
Pet Fee: $65 per dog ( max 2 dogs) - No Cats, sorry!
Please take your trash with you. There is dumpster access at the Shenandoah River Outfitters (less than a mile from the property). The house manager can take them for a tip of $5 per bag, if you would prefer.
House was perfect for a relaxing weekend!
We loved our stay at green castle cabin! It was great to be right on the water with kayaks and canoes to use and the hot tub was clean with amazing views.
I rated this lower because of the view and river access. Online the pics show a better view, but it has grown up (underbrush) A LOT and a fallen/dead tree is blocking a good portion of the river view. I was also disappointed in the access to the water. Although the description didn't mention easy water access I had hoped it would be easier. I fell trying to get down the steep slope and I feel I am a pretty active/flexible/rugged woman. If you are going mainly to relax with a view you get a better view on the deck but it is a small window compared to the pictures and definitely limited even more on the ground. Inside the home was nice.
We love this cabin. Excellent communication with management. The house and views are amazing. Highly recommend this stay!
The property was perfect. Amazing views and right on the river. Very clean and very well equipped. We enjoyed it so much we already booked the cabin again. The Shenandoah team is also very responsive to your questions which I appreciated. I really have no complaints other than I wish we had stayed longer. Thank you for allowing us to stay in this gorgeous cabin.
The poor house cleaning prior to our arrival was an unexpected vacation start. It was dirty enough to make a trip into town for cleaning supplies which were left behind for the cleaning crew, all tables, countertops, kitchen appliances furniture tops had to be cleaned. Spiders don't bother me however if you're not willing to invest in pest control sprays then be prepared to remove spider webs as part of cleaning the cabin. We removed most all of the spider webs inside the cabin on the window wall, ceiling fan and light fixtures. It was also obvious that previous guests had a dog, his nose prints were all over every lower window, we chose not to wash windows. The screen porch was the joke of the week, I pulled the vacuum cleaner out as there were literally hundreds of dead house flies at the bottom of the walls, the light fixture is half full of dead insects. There's so much spider web buildup on the ceiling fan we were taking bets on if it would rip itself off the ceiling. The topper was having a screen porch with NO Doors! It was a useless space after the sun went down. The hot tub has a problem and the jets don't work much at all, we did try it once but again no power from the jets and lots of sand on the inside were you sit. We only used one canoe, the second one has a lot of damage and looks like it will probably take on water. We enjoyed the location of the camp, it worked great for all our families activities. If you don't like spiders, this cabin isn't for you.
This is an excellent property and location for All accommodations. They family enjoyed the stay here, as they got to experience the outdoors while still having the comforts of home. I'm looking forward to another getaway...soon ??
Nice cabin with great views of the lake. Recommend.
We loved sitting out on the deck and watching the river flow, and we made a fire every night in the fire pit. The home was comfortable and inviting.
Family of four, two kids ages 8 and 9. My husband just returned from a deployment on a ship and the first thing he wanted to do was stay here and enjoy the great outdoors. We stayed for 7 days, the same week hurricane Ian hit Florida. We ended up getting 6 days of rain/mist/fog/overcast weather, but we didn't let ruin our trip. We still managed to walk a few trails in Shenandoah, mini golf and go carts in Massanutten, and visited Luray Caverns. We ended up cooking at the house most nights, the kitchen was fully equipped to make homemade meals and grill every night. We played board games every night, but make sure you bring them from home or stop at the local Walmart. The house was clean and well maintained outside too. We just wish the weather cooperated during our trip.
Great place to stay. Quiet, relaxing long weekend by the river. A few insects in the porch enclosure, but to be expected at this time of year. Cabin clean and tidy. Booking process worked really well. Would love to come back :)
We really enjoyed the house. It had plenty of room for our family and it was equipped as advertised. We loved the closeness to the river. Our dog had a blast running around the yard. Overall the stay was relaxing as we had hoped.
Very Clean We enjoyed the firepit, hottub, screened porch, and deck overlooking the river!! Inside the cabin was very clean and we appreciated the amenities in the Kitchen , bath, & bedroom. Definitely on our list to return to again!!
We had a blast staying for the weekend and took full advantage of the canoes fire pit and hot tub. We fished all day and caught quite a few bass which we cooked for supper.
This was our second trip to Green Castle. It’s the prefect place. The house and the scenery can’t be beat. Everything is there at the house that you would need. The host is super responsive. We plan to come back to Green Castle as soon as we can. Love this place.
My husband and I have visited Shenandoah many times as tent campers, but wanted something different for our first trip with the kids (4.5 and 9). I looked at a ton of properties across many sites, but when I found this one on shenrent.com, I knew it was the one. The proximity to the river and view from the huge living room windows could not be beat. When we arrived, everything was even better than pictured, and we all fell in love with Green Castle. When we saw that the hot tub had a ring, the property’s housekeeping manager sent someone out very quickly (without me even asking) to resolve the issue. My kids enjoyed their first hot tub experience and loved it. We also took them hiking in Shenandoah (about a 20-30 min drive) and to Luray Caverns (a 10-15 minute drive). We enjoyed the firepit every night and had coffee on the deck every morning. When it was time to leave, my kids were in tears. I immediately tried to rebook this property and learned it is going off the rental market at the end of August. I’m already researching our next Shenandoah Rentals vacation and have recommended the agency to several friends and coworkers who keep commenting that I look so refreshed and relaxed. Note: Google maps will get you to this property using the address - no need for complicated instructions. Thank you for an amazing stay!
Beautiful cabin in a great location.
We had lovely views of the river. Very peaceful. The house is cozy and we had everything necessary to make wonderful breakfasts and dinners. Daytime was spent at the national park which is beautiful. We enjoyed the puzzles that were provided. A few minor things about the house. We have 2 older dogs that had a slight problem getting up and down the stairs. Also the stairs are dark in the morning and evening. I was very happy to have the flashlight that was provided. We could have used night stands in the bedrooms. We need our glasses handy! Also we thought the lighting was a little dim in the living areas. Overall was a wonderful weekend in a beautiful setting.
My friends and I come to Shenandoah every year and this is one of our favorite places we've stayed! The house is great: It is clean, comfortable, sufficiently appointed, with an amazing view! And the screened porch is a nice touch. I would certainly stay there again.
The location was great. The house was set away from other houses. The house was in great shape with had great views of the Shenandoah River. Only slight issue was that the beds were hard, but some like that. So, overall it’s still a 5 out of 5.
